A friend of mine recently bought a puppy from a breeder who assured her that the dogs were health checked by a vet before being allowed to go to their new owners. In addition, all the parent dogs were allegedly checked for genetic conditions. All was well until the pup reached 15 weeks of age. My friend noticed that the puppy seemed to be experiencing discomfort in one of his eyes. The little guy was constantly rubbing at the eye with his paw, and it was inflamed and watery. After carrying out an examination and lots of tests, the vet concluded that the puppy had a form of genetic eye cancer and would most likely finish up losing an eye in the future.
