We started our business years ago and like any new breeder learned along the way what levels of health clearances and pedigrees we need to breed to find high performance dogs in order to have a high percentage of graduates for the type of training that we offer. Our training has become world renowned. All of her babies are born in our in-house nursery where they get to watch Nick Jr. Disney JR. We run our nursery like a real pre-school. At Vail Ranch goldens We are proud of the fact that we are kennel free facility, and raise our puppies and dogs with the most delicate and loving care. Top of the line food to daily vitamins and supplements. We begin handling the puppies from day one by all of our Staff, volunteers, clients, family, friends, and our grandkids so they are very well socialized and loved from day one. Our dogs won national dog shows and we had litters of puppies that we bred as show, service, and therapy dogs. Yoncalla's Mike was the only German Shepherd to be Grand Victor twice in history at the time we were breeding. Yoncalla's Mike was the father and grandfather of our puppies. I have now personally raised and trained many Goldens over the past 9 years and with that success, one of my personal dogs landed national television commercials and was used in other promotional projects and public appearances. My other Goldens have made incredible family companions with rave reviews on how smart, well-trained, and loving my puppies are. From that point on, I realized my dream was to start a Golden Retriever Rescue and to start breeding and training Goldens to bring joy and security to families in need. I purchased our first male American Standard Golden Retriever, Sonic, at just 8 weeks old for my sons who were both struggling with ADHD and anxiety related to my divorce and custody battle. It was like magic watching my boys bond with our dog and be able to start recovering. I believe that Goldens have an instinct, and because Sonic goes everywhere with us, no matter what store or public place, he can sense a human in need. He walks up to handicapped, wheelchair-bound, or anyone he senses needs love and just gives these people the gift of laughter showing off his Hollywood tricks or giving them a hug. He has now become a celebrity in our town and everywhere we go. The Best Buy team asked if he could wear their company shirt and be their store mascot. A manager at McDonald's runs to the drive-thru window just to say hi and give Sonic a mini ice-cream cone. I can't tell you how many people over the years have stopped and thanked us for sharing those few moments of our day with Sonic and how he truly is a blessing in their day. We automatically knew he had the gift of healing. For over 3 years now when I take him to public places or dog parks, crowds of people approach me in amazement and ask if I have a business card and how I trained Sonic to do these things. Now recognizing the personal gift I have with dogs and training, I offer this service for families who either own a puppy or have purchased one from us. With my breeding partner, who also has over 20 years breeding champion Goldens, we are striving to continue to keep this beautiful bloodline of Goldens breeding, so we can offer families successful therapy and well-trained family companions guaranteed to be dependable working dogs. This breeder does not advertise puppies that much and in most cases, the litters are sold through referrals or repeat purchases. You would really have to reach out to him for his available puppies. Since his dogs are often repeated purchases, several families already own second and third-generation Golden Retrievers from this breeder. If this also sounds appealing to you, check the dogs out through their webpage. The main breeder of Eirlys named Marina Hall Phillips has an extensive background in animal genetics, behavior, and husbandry. She has been in the service dog industry for 20 years before she decided to start breeding Golden Retrievers. As a result of her years of experience, the Goldens that her kennel produces are very much delightful as they have a balanced temperament, excellent working ability, perfect structure, and penchant for family companionship. Nevertheless, if you want to take your chances, please do so. Their litter is well-planned so they really offer quality puppies. However, if you want to verify their legitimacy, read our ultimate puppy buying guide for some proven tips on how to safely find a breeder online or how to find a puppy for sale while avoiding scams. The majority of the puppies being advertised here came from AKC champion bloodlines. Similar to the AKC, they have member breeders who also sell their puppies through the organization. My Golden Retriever Puppies — Originally, this began as a partnership between two families of breeders but grew to become a network of multiple breeders based in Ohio. Essentially, this is an advertising website where one can post their litter for sale. Anyone can buy a puppy from this bunch of Ohio breeders even though they are not from the same state. They screen breeders intensively before allowing them to post their puppies on their website and they also ensure that their dogs underwent health checks. They ship worldwide and most dogs come with health guarantees. Of course, if you want a dog from a champion bloodline, that would be more costly. Aside from this initial cost, you also have to provide some necessary items for your pup. Quality Not Quantity Our aim is to breed dogs as near the breed standard as possible. This is one of the finest family dogs in the world: cheerful, demonstrative, trustworthy with everyone, and forgiving of any mistakes made by inexperienced owners. Give this breed two brisk walks each day, play fetch games, and take him out for a good run once a week, and he is adaptable to almost any lifestyle. Friendly with everyone strangers, children, dogs, cats, smaller pets , his bark is welcoming rather than protective. You must control his tendency to chew on objects and to mouth your hands -- provide a box filled with toys so he can carry things around in his mouth. A Golden Retriever remains enthusiastically puppy-like for many years, so early obedience training is required to instill calmness and good manners. Eager to please and wonderfully responsive, he is nonetheless distracted by exciting sights and sounds, so you must be both patient and persistent. The mind and heart of a Golden is sweet and gentle, but his body is robust — until he's taught not to pull on the leash, you'll need good biceps to walk him. Our beautiful girl was born last April and we collected her in June. We named her Sienna and she is just the most adorable and loving girl. She loves going for long walks and running round the fields surrounding our home, although she does manage to seek out every muddy puddle to roll around in. She loves nothing more than playing hide and seek with her many toys and is so clever, she always finds them. My favourite time is in the evening, when she becomes sleepy and snuggles on the sofa with us, being totally pampered. We absolutely adore her and feel so blessed she is part of our family. Thanks again Jude. These original Goldens were bred to hunt and withstand the harsh winters of Scotland. Over the last years, Golden Retrievers have been bred and refined to create different styles and variations of the great family dog we all adore. American vs. Canadian vs. The American Golden is considered the general standard of the breed. While there are similar Canadian and British counterparts, the American is the most popular. The American Golden Retriever has a rich gold coat. The shades of gold can vary slightly but can be neither too light nor too dark. Adult males stand at the height of inches, while females stand at .Male American Goldens can weigh as much as pounds, while adult females are slightly smaller at pounds. American Golden Retrievers are well-loved by all, showing loyalty and friendly nature to everyone. They are also highly intelligent and eager to please. With that said, American Goldens are known for being a little more energetic than other breed variations. They make an excellent pet for younger couples who enjoy many outdoor activities or families who can spend a lot of time playing with them. These Goldens have a long golden coat that can vary slightly in the shade. They stand at the same height as adult American Golden Retrievers, with males being inches tall and females being .Canadian Goldens are also the same in weight, with males being pounds and females pounds. Overall, Canadian Goldens and American Goldens are the same dogs in different locations. While very similar to American Goldens, they do have some subtle differences. The British Golden is typically a lighter shade of gold than the American type. The standard weight for British Golden Retrievers is not specified, but most weigh anywhere between 55 to 70 pounds. British Golden Retrievers are highly devoted, friendly, and intelligent. Many breeders report that British Golden has fewer potential health conditions like hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia than the American or Canadian versions. Still, there are no studies to confirm this. The English Cream Golden has a very pale cream to white coat shorter and thicker than standard American Goldens. They have a stockier build, with males standing around inches tall and females standing approximately inches. Adult male English Creams can weigh anywhere between pounds, and females weigh about pounds. English Cream Goldens have lovable personalities with a calm, friendly nature. They are incredibly smart and easy to train, as well. With that said, English Cream Golden Retrievers are often more expensive than other types of Goldens because of their desirable appearance. There is some debate about whether mini Golden Retrievers should really be considered a type of Golden, as they are technically crossbreeds. Since mini Golden Retrievers are hybrid breeds, they have no actual breed specifications. Their coat color can vary from light cream to dark gold or red, with extreme variations in length. Their heights vary, but most are under 20 inches tall, males and females. Their weights can vary as well, typically staying anywhere between 30 and 50 pounds. Miniature Golden Retrievers are excellent for anyone who desires certain personality traits of a Golden Retriever without the medium-to-large size. With that said, mini Goldens do not always take on the friendly, happy-go-lucky nature of purebred Goldens. Since they are crossbred, they can have attributes of other breeds. Purebred Black Golden Retrievers do not exist but can essentially be created by mixing any variation of a Golden with a black Labrador, Newfoundland, or other breeds. The coat, height, and weight of a black Golden will vary because it is actually a mixed breed. Since many Goldens are bred with Labradors, they would likely be of medium-to-large build, with males or females anywhere between 50 to 75 pounds. Some Goldens may even be mixed with Newfoundlands, which would result in a much larger dog, weighing 80 to pounds or more. Determining which type of Golden Retriever is best for you depends on your unique lifestyle. All kinds make a great family pet, but some have distinct characteristics that make them better suited for specific homes. Each Golden Retriever puppy has a different cost too, so make sure you know the golden retriever price before deciding. If not well-trained and socialized, these dogs could cause serious trouble; thus, we only recommend them to experienced owners. Some Golden Chows are reserved and aloof, like Chow Chows. Others love to be around people, like Goldens. They love to run and play, and many love the water. Not only do you have to train them consistently, but you also have to keep up with their significant exercise demands. Chows and Goldens are both smart dogs, but that intelligence manifests itself in different ways. A Golden Retriever will use its considerable brainpower to try to find ways to make you happy. Chows love their owners too, but their brains are often used to scan for threats and offer protection. Golden Chows can closely resemble either parent breed in this regard, but they often fall somewhere in the middle. They love to spend their time playing and goofing off with their families, but they become all business as soon as a threat appears. Are These Dogs Good for Families? A Golden Chow tends to bond tightly to their family, so the dog would likely give their life to protect your children. If you decide to bring a Golden Chow into your family, then training is in order—for both the kids and the dog. The dog needs to learn how to tolerate unpredictable little people, and the children need to be taught how to behave around animals. Some love other animals and can make fast friends at the dog park, but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule. If you want to increase the likelihood that your dog will tolerate other pets, then socialize them early and often. These are complex animals, and to raise one properly, you have to do your homework. Excess weight is a problem for this breed, especially since many of them can suffer from hip dysplasia and other joint issues later in life. Find a suitable diet we recommend one high in fat and protein , and feed your dog a set amount every day. We also think you should give your pooch a regular glucosamine supplement to help with those achy joints. Image Credit: William Wise, Dreamstime. About 60 to 90 minutes of vigorous exercise usually does the trick. These dogs are smart, so mental stimulation is equally important. They tend to do better interacting with people than trying to figure out puzzles, so make sure any mental challenges involve both of you. We like agility training for this purpose, as it taxes the body and mind equally. Golden Chows are playful with family members, so you may even be able to just run around in the backyard with them for exercise. This means that small children can often get bowled over by overly enthusiastic dogs, so try to keep their energy levels in check. It needs to be done regularly—every day, if possible—and it needs to be done thoroughly. Along with training, socialization needs to happen from day one. Make sure your dog is confident and comfortable in a variety of situations, including around other people and pets. Socializing them properly will go a long way toward nipping future problematic behaviors in the bud. As for training styles, positive reinforcement is always best. We reviewed the best clickers for training your dog — check out our favorites here! Many Golden Chows suffer from dental issues , so brushing their teeth regularly is essential. You also need to keep their ears clean and their nails trimmed. Still, you should monitor your dog regularly to rule out the following conditions. Minor Conditions. However, have you ever considered a Golden Chow? This might just be one of the best choices from all the puppies and dogs available for you. These protective but gentle dogs are fantastic companions, but they are not the dog for everyone. In this article, we will take a look at this remarkable mixed-breed dog. What Is a Golden Chow? It is an attempt to take the best of two wonderful dogs. The history of the Chow Chow Golden Retriever mix is not well known. They have only emerged in the last 20 years as part of a growing trend to cross breed different purebred dogs. Some of these cross-breeds have been successful. The Labradoodle is a classic example. The hybrid is now standardized, meaning that owners know what they are getting when they buy one. The Golden Chow has not got that far. The appearance and temperament of the dog can vary depending on the parents. The first parent breed of this mix is the Chow Chow. The Chinese developed this dog more than 2, years ago as an all-around working animal. They served as farm animals, temple guards, and even army dogs! Many people are wary of the Chow Chow. It is known for being aggressive and standoffish. Some insurance companies will even increase your rates if they know that you have one of these as a pet. Without proper socializing, this dog can be mean and scary. Martha Stewart is also a fan and owns three. The other half of the equation is a lovable Golden Retriever. This breed is young compared to the Chow Chow. These dogs were developed in Scotland as hunting companions. Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular family dogs out there. This is because they are obedient, affectionate, and easy to train. They are known for being fluffy, aloof, and devoted pets. Golden Chows can be very similar to Golden Retrievers—or they could be very different. The answer depends largely on your individual dog and its genetics. As a hybrid, this dog tends to lean one way or the other. This is true for both appearance and temperament. Chow Chows usually weigh in at about 50 to 75 pounds and will stand 20 to 25 inches tall. They are considered medium-sized dogs, but they are at the larger end of the scale. Both the Golden and the Chow Chow are somewhat big dogs, so this cross is no small pup. Chow Chows can have a variety of appearances. Some will look like fluffier Golden Retrievers. Others might look like thinner Chow Chows. No matter what, you can expect a thick double coat that will need daily brushing. It will generally be more of a red or gold color, but this is not always the case. An interesting characteristic that you might find in your dog is its tongue. Chow Chows are known for their blue-black tongues, and it looks like this is a dominant trait. Your dog might have a splotchy multi-colored tongue. The mouth will also probably be darker as well. But lest that discourage you, check out this video of super adorable Golden Chow puppies. Temperament is where these dogs differ most from a Golden Retriever. This is because the two parent breeds are very different. Goldens love affection of all kinds, including from strangers. Chows are wary of people in general and are protective of their homes. If your dog leans more towards a Golden, it will be an attention-seeker. It will also be friendlier towards strangers. It will have many of the lovable traits that you look for in a Golden but might be more reserved and relaxed. A Golden Chow that leans more toward Chow traits, however, will not be as friendly. These dogs will be more protective of their homes and are suspicious of anyone who enters. If you are considering a Golden Chow, you should be prepared to change your lifestyle. These dogs will take up a lot of your time and energy when it comes to training and exercise. If they are more of a Golden Retriever, they will be easy to train. Goldens live to please people, and they are naturally obedient. They are focused to the point of obsession and will work hard to achieve any task that you give them. Goldens are also extremely active dogs. As hunting companions, they were bred to be outside and running around for long periods of time. Their favorite game in the world is fetch, especially if you throw a stick or ball into a lake or ocean. If your dog is more of a Chow Chow, training will be more difficult. You will need to establish yourself as the alpha dog right away. Chow Chows typically require more discipline than other dogs. This should never be physical though. You will likely find a unique training program that works for your dog. It is important to socialize Chow Chows and Golden Chows from an early age. The Chow side needs to learn that other animals and people do not pose a threat. The Golden Chow is only recommended to experienced dog owners. It also is not a dog for families with young children. Conclusion The Golden Chow is a difficult dog to raise. However, the reward is a sweet, loyal, and protective dog that will keep your family safe. Already Have a Golden Chow? Check out our feeding guide here. There are several reasons why people choose to buy a hybrid. Some people do so because they want to keep a pet that is neither purebred nor a designer dog. In fact, you can often find puppies in your local area for much less than they cost when you shop online. Of course, it is a good idea to find out as much as you can about the breed before you decide to buy a puppy. This way, you will know what kind of temperament you are going to be getting and whether the dog is a good fit for your family. This is not always an easy task, but this great breed can be a wonderful addition to any family. You should take your time in looking at the breed and then making your decision. There are many different breeds, so it is best to make sure you have a list of criteria that you are going to look for. If you are not sure where to start, you may want to consider taking a class on dogs or contacting a breeder who has had a lot of experience with Golden Retrievers. The Internet is a great place to get tips on finding the right breed. You may find that some breeds sell much cheaper on the Internet than they do at your local pet store. There are many breeders and even some individual dogs that sell puppies for sale. If you are interested in one specific breed, be sure to contact the breeder and ask them about the price that you can expect to pay for a puppy. You also need to think about the type of new home that you will be moving into. Some golden retriever breeds are more suited to being in the home of a very active, outdoor dog. Others are better suited to indoor life. Take your time when buying a puppy, and see which breed would be a better fit in your household. It is also a good idea to think about how much time you will be able to spend with the puppy while you are taking care of your new pet. If you will be traveling a lot, it may be a good idea to look for puppies for sale that have been trained to be boarded. In this case, a waiting period before you bring the dog home could be a good idea. Dogs can have varying degrees of tolerance for noise. Besides, some dogs are better at playing with small children and other pets. If you are not the type of person who enjoys this type of thing, be sure to look for puppies for sale that do not have a lot of young children in their household. You may also want to consider a dog that is best suited to a small apartment, as well as where you will be renting the place. Some dogs need a large amount of room, especially if they are smaller breeds. Before you buy a puppy, make sure that you have taken all of these things into consideration. When you are looking for puppies for sale, you should do your research and look for the right breed for you. Some breeds are better suited to certain lifestyles, so take your time and decide what you want. Whether you are just starting to be a pet owner or are planning to raise a family of dogs, you should never settle for anything less than the perfect pet. Usually, there are 1 to three discount coupons for one item. But in every single order, clients can only use one discount coupon. So, always try to choose the most appropriate coupon with the biggest discount. However, the best way to find out which Golden Retriever Chow mix is best is to find the best breeder offering the puppies. But finding reputable breeders of chows may sometimes prove to be tedious and time-consuming. It is because these breeders are very careful about the health of their puppies and do not resort to selling them to irresponsible people who may not take good care of them. Also, breeders like to sell their chows at cheap prices to reduce the expenses they have to incur to maintain them. However, there are still several trusted breeders in the market who can provide good quality Golden Retriever puppies at reasonable prices. When looking for Golden Retriever puppies for sale in Michigan, it is better to ask around first before making any purchase. People living nearby can give you an idea about the prices of the different kinds of breeds. You can visit the local dog shows as well. Here, you can see the dogs in action and know what kind of price range they generally belong to. Knowing about the prices of different breeds will also help you decide if any of the mentioned breeds are suitable for you. If you are a first-time buyer, you may want to inquire about the requirements that the breeder wants for his puppies. Breeders normally require only those dogs that show good working qualities and possess good health. Besides, you have to check out whether the breeder has a license to operate a business dealing with breeding dogs. It is illegal to own a business that offers dogs for sale if it does not have a license to operate. Golden Retriever breeders that sell Golden Retriever puppies for sale can be found in almost every city in the U. These breeders usually have many dogs for sale and a lot of knowledge about how to take care of them. Usually, these breeders have a good relationship with other reputable breeders and can easily get their help in terms of finding the right dogs and puppies. There are several popular national brands available in the market, including the Boston Terriers, the Collie, the Irish Wolfhound, the Standard Schnauzer, and the Shih Tzu. It should be noted that these registered dogs have undergone all the necessary testing and evaluations to ensure their health and temperament. Purebred Golden Retrievers and any other dog or puppy that belongs to the same breed group have very close physical resemblance but are still distinct from each other genetically. Another reason is that they believe that the American Kennel Club has not done enough testing to verify the health and temperament of hybrid dogs. And even though there is little proof to suggest that hybrid chows do suffer from serious health problems, they cannot be assumed to be safe. Many pet stores also offer Chow mix puppies for sale. Though this type of hybrid is also referred to as American Bandog or Cocker Spaniel mix, it is actually unrelated to either breed in terms of the bloodline. Instead, it is an American breed of dog that was crossed with a Standard Poodle to create the designer dog. In most cases, these dogs have pedigrees that trace their origins back to the same American breed standard. This makes them eligible for all types of licenses as purebred American Kennel Club registered dogs. Share this:. Sponsor Meet Kibbles Adorable Kibbles is in search of his forever home! There are numerous debates on whether to feed raw or cooked chicken. Some doctors believe that feeding raw chicken to German Shepherds increases the danger of salmonella infection. Others argue that feeding raw chicken to your dog is completely safe and poses no or minimal chances of salmonella infection. They defend this theory by claiming that dogs and wolves are accustomed to eating raw meat and live happily and healthily in the wild. This breed, however, tolerates all types of chicken and most meat products. You may combine the chicken with some nutritious starches and veggies that are safe for your German Shepherd to eat. Is it safe to give dogs raw bones? Bones pose no health risk to your dog. They are, in fact, incredibly healthy and supply your pet with a lot of nutrients. Bones are rich in calcium and easy to chew and the flesh left on the bones is high in protein and other nutrients. Plus your pet will also get to enjoy the delicious bone marrow inside them. On the other hand, Cooked bones will not harm your pet, but they can easily splinter, which will cause digestive problems. When you initially offer raw chicken to your puppy, you may notice that it causes diarrhea. Benefits of raw meat for dogs While raw food is usually 98 percent digestive, processed foods are just 80 percent digestible. It means that fresh food is more effective in terms of delivering nutrients. Also, many people believe that a fresh meal consisting primarily of raw meat is more representative of what German Shepherds would consume in the wild. Furthermore, dogs that eat raw meat are healthy since their bodies are well adapted to such a diet and less prone to stomach disorders, which are widespread in German Shepherds. However, there are two commonly used methods: 1. It is mainly made up of raw beef, but it also contains additional ingredients such as vegetables and nuts. Simple Guide To Feeding A Raw Diet Jun 01, Raw diets are controversial diets that are new to many people, but as old as the domesticated dog itself. Raw diets are gaining in popularity at a phenomenal rate. It's now at the point that raw diets can even be found pre-made at not only pet stores, but in the cold food and freezer aisles at grocery stores. Here's what you need to know about making your own. Dogs can get all the nutrition they need from the meat, organ and bones found in prey animals. Check the end of the article for foods to avoid. The PMR gets it's name from the fact that it mimics the contents of a prey animal by their meat, organ and bone content. To make raw feeding simple, keep it simple and relax. Again, keep it simple and relax. Simply feed more when you notice the weight loss. No need to panic. If you're switching from kibble to raw it's normal to be nervous, but exercise common sense and you'll be fine! What about sourcing food to keep things simple? You can buy in bulk at the grocery store, and talk to the butchers that are working in the meat section. You can also visit your local butcher, talk to local farmers; and even contact restaurant supply companies if you have the freezer space or a lot of dogs. Speaking of freezer space, buy a deep freezer. The bigger the better. You'll be glad you have extra space if you come across a good deal on lbs of meat and it'll make raw feeding easier! What should you buy to keep a raw diet simple? Simple answer: Buy what's cheap! Chicken necks and backs are very inexpensive, so are chicken quarters and livers. You can also buy whole chickens and cut them up. Avoid chicken that has "added salt solution. Chicken quarters, thighs, legs and necks with the skin can be fattening. You should trim the fat off if your dog isn't active or is overweight. Raw poultry bones are probably going to be your 1 source of bone. Pork is also cheap, but certain parts like pork bellies are very fatty. Pork necks contain a lot of edible bone. As far as beef goes, there are lots of inexpensive cuts of beef that are mostly for stewing and contain little fat. Cuts like sirloin tri-tip roast, top chuck roast, first cut chuck roast, top blade roast, bottom round roast, chuck shoulder roast and bottom round rump roast are inexpensive and good for the base of your dog's diet. Fish, especially oily fish are very healthy. Feed at least twice a week. Organ can be tricky to source. Many Asian and Latino food markets have organ for sale. You can also try local farms. Many simply throw out organ. If you can't find what you're looking for, many raw diet vendors exist online. You can have frozen organ delivered to your door on ice! Sourcing bone is easy. You'll do it by accident when feeding bony cuts of poultry mostly. Your dog's droppings will be much harder when feeding raw. This often results in healthier anal glands. If your dog's stool is too soft, add more chicken necks, feet, backs, pork necks, ribs etc to solve the issue. If your dog seems to have too much difficulty going, you should cut back on the bone. Now you know what to feed, how much to feed and even where to source your dog food, but here's where we make it really easy. A lot of people meticulously weigh their food and prepackaged and freeze a week or even a month's worth at a time. They balance each meal with an exact amount of meat, organ and bone and it takes hours! The secret is that not every meal has to be balanced. You don't weigh and balance each meal of your own, do you? Your diet balances itself out over time. You can do the same with your dogs raw diet. Instead of a lot of pre-packaging, simply thaw out 3 days worth of meat and bone and 3 days worth of organ. Just mix and match meals and let them balance over time. For example, on Sunday you could put 3 days of frozen chicken quarters, beef chuck, mackerel and calf liver in the fridge to thaw. Then you have meat ready to put in your dog bowls from Monday - Wednesday night. On Wednesday evening, you could put 3 days worth of goat meat, turkey necks and sheep kidney in the fridge to thaw. When it's time to feed on Thursday morning, add a sardine or 2 if canned, make sure they're canned in water , as well as a raw egg with shell to your dog's breakfast. Do the same Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. That's 3 eggs and sardines from Thursday-Saturday 3 eggs a week are plenty. That also covers every meal from Thursday-Saturday. On Saturday evening, take out another 3 days of food and repeat. Now you're on an easy schedule where you don't have to bag entirely balanced meals for every meal of every day of the week. You've cut down your bagging from 2 or 3 meals a day per month meals prepped to 10 pre-packaged 3 day meals a month! Remember, just relax! I do suggest you start by weighing your food, but after a couple of months you'll be able to eyeball how much food is enough for each of your dogs. If you notice a dog seems to be losing or gaining a little weight, that's no problem. Dogs lose and gain weight very fast. Just feed a little extra, or a little less depending on the circumstances and you'll notice the difference in your dogs weight inside of a few days. Once you master eyeballing the amounts of food to feed and learn to eyeball your dog's weight, scales become unnecessary, which will save you more time and make things that much simpler. To conclude, I said that I would go over items to never feed. Wild pork and bear alike can contain parasites. Farmed pork in the US and Canada are safe. If you procure wild deer, elk, goose, rabbit etc, be sure to freeze it for 3 weeks. Also remember 1. No wild pork and no bear ever. Not even after freezing. It can contain a bacterium that's dangerous to dogs. Canned salmon and mackerel are cooked and perfectly safe. Farmed, raw salmon is also fine and usually comes from Norway. Fish, especially oily fish, are very healthy. Avoid fish with sharp spines and barbs, like catfish, unless they're removed. They are hard and will cause premature wear, or even breakage of the teeth. If the prey animal is bigger than about 10lbs, only feed the spine and ribs to be safe. No leg bones, pelvis etc. Please do your research so that you know what vegetables and fruits are safe to feed! Avoid cow's milk completely and limit cheeses and yogurts. Make sure yogurts are plain. Grinding up meat mixes the germs on the outside of the meat all throughout the ground meat. Also remember that ground meats don't contain bone unless otherwise specified and do not have the added bonus of cleaning teeth. Feed the leanest ground products possible. Thank you for reading. It's impossible to have a full, comprehensive conversation about raw feeding in an article. This is a guideline for those who are interested. I suggest you read books and source information from several authors and friends who feed raw to best educate yourself. After all, GSDs are work dogs. Unfortunately, GSDs are susceptible to sensitivities. German Shepherds sometimes become allergic to gluten or common animal proteins found in commercial dog foods. They can get itchy, dry, and red skin from allergies either in their environment or diet. Raw food helps eliminate many of the causes of those skin irritations, leading to healthier skin. Also, you are adding many healthy fats and oils through proteins such as fish and with supplements such as nuts that encourage shinier coats. Many cheaper commercial dog foods use grains as a cheap alternative for protein. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, an antioxidant and protector of white T cells. GSDs are prone to stomach sensitivities, especially to proteins such as beef, lamb, and chicken commonly found in commercial dog foods. By feeding raw, you can offer your dog alternative proteins to keep their stomach happy. This promotes more solid stools and fewer episodes of nausea and diarrhea. You can provide high-quality proteins with nutrient-packed organ meat and whole, raw vegetables packed with vitamins. Many cheap commercial dog foods fill their formulas with low-quality grains with little nutritional value, such as wheat sweepings. Many dogs, especially German Shepherds, can become sensitive to these ingredients, causing stomach issues. What are the drawbacks of a raw food diet for German Shepherd puppies? For a German Shepherd that weighs 65 pounds, here is how much raw food you would need to feed him daily. While some strongly believe that raw feeding is an unsafe way to feed dogs, others consider it extremely beneficial. Can German Shepherds eat raw meat? Yes, absolutely! German Shepherds can definitely eat raw meat. You just need to be aware of how to do it properly to ensure adequate nutrition and to avoid potential hazards. Benefits of Feeding Raw Meat to your German Shepherd According to the Animal Humane Society , a home-cooked and raw food diet is better only because it offers better digestibility. It only means that fresh food is more efficient at providing nutrients. Additionally, many believe that a fresh diet composed mainly of raw meat better mimics what German Shepherds would eat in the wild. Theoretically, because their bodies are adapted for such a diet, dogs that eat raw meat tend to be healthier and less prone to digestive issues, which are common among GSDs. It is mostly composed of raw meat but also includes other ingredients like vegetables and seeds. The key is to provide the same nutritional profile as high-quality commercial dog food, but through meals that have no preservatives and have better absorption rates. Its most distinct difference from the BARF method is that it does not contain any plants. Generally, a raw food diet poses the following risks: Malnutrition Commercial dog food is specifically formulated to give your pup a balanced diet. To avoid this, make sure you adhere to the recommended ratios for the raw diet method you intend to follow. Contamination Undercooked and raw meat can be contaminated with harmful bacteria like E. Always follow the same food safety protocols as you would with food for human consumption. Also, always source your meat from reputable establishments. Generally, you should avoid weight-bearing bones because those are hard enough to break teeth, cause choking, or even lead to throat or gut perforation. As long as you follow food safety protocols, feeding your GSD raw meat should be harmless. In fact, it could be a good way for your pup to get all the nutrition they need. Final Thoughts Whether you use it to replace their dog food or give as an occasional treat, your German Shepherd is very likely to enjoy raw meat. Salmonella Salmonella does not affect dogs in the same way that it affects people. A large percentage of healthy dogs will test positive for salmonella in their systems regardless of the food that they eat. It is a normal part of their GI flora and so they naturally excrete it in their feces and saliva. The majority of human salmonella cases come from ingestion and handling of dry foods and treats, and not from handling uncooked meats as popularly thought. So the real salmonella threat is to you, and not to your dog. And regardless of the food that you feed your dog, there is a good chance that it is already carrying salmonella. The people most affected by this are those who have compromised immune systems. So just remember to handle any raw meat that you prepare for your dog in the same manner that you would handle raw meat that you feed to your family. In addition to properly rinsing raw meat, be sure to disinfect counters, bowls, and any other surfaces that the raw meat may come into contact with. Also, according to the FDA , you should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water after handling any raw meat and also the same before eating. Trichinosis This is a parasitic disease that is most often caused by eating undercooked pig or wild game infected with larval trichinella a parasitic worm. These larvae may, however, be killed off by heating, freezing, or irradiating the meat. While you can of course heat or freeze meat at home, irradiation is carried out in government facilities with x-rays, gamma rays, and electron beams. To effectively kill off trichinella by freezing, you must freeze raw pork meat for 3 weeks before you feed it to your dog. Toxoplasmosis This is caused by the protozoa called toxoplasma gondii. Though the vast majority of people infected with Toxoplasmosis will never show any symptoms if they have healthy immune systems. People most at risk are pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems. Infection from these protozoa can happen when raw meat is consumed, most often venison, pork, lamb, oysters, clams, and mussels. Infection can also occur from infected feces. Infection can also accidentally occur when not washing hands after gardening or eating unwashed fruits and vegetables from a garden. The risk of Toxoplasmosis can be avoided by freezing raw meat for 24 hours and again remembering to thoroughly disinfect all surfaces that raw meat may have come into contact with. Salmon Poisoning This can occur when feeding a dog salmon or any other anadromous fish fish that swim upstream to spawn , and it works like this: The fish harbors a parasite Nanophyetus salmincola , and in turn, this parasite harbors an organism Neorickettsia helminthoeca. The parasite is relatively harmless, but it is the organism that it carries which causes salmon poisoning and produces its harmful effects. And again here, freezing the raw fish meat will inactivate both the parasite and the organism. However, this requires some attention to detail to do properly. To effectively kill these off, salmon must be deep-frozen for at least 7 days. GI Parasites These parasites, which include tapeworms, roundworms, coccidia, and hookworms are often a concern for some people who want to feed their dog raw meat. So just make sure that you are not feeding your dog the GI tract of any animal, and this will ensure that he will not acquire any GI parasites. As long as you are feeding your dog USDA inspected meat, there is no risk of contraction. Food Poisoning Dogs can get food poisoning from eating rancid meat. Spoiled, rancid meat contains endotoxins that will kill just about anything that eats it except scavengers that are built to do this. If it smells off, it likely is off. On the other hand, wolves have been eating raw meat for millions of years. Even though dogs have evolved through the years to become tolerant of starches — corn, wheat, rice, potato, and other products in traditional dog food, their systems have not evolved to do so. There is a big difference between adaptation and evolution. Unlike evolution, adaptation is not a natural process, but instead a forced one. A reasonable alternative to raw meat is commercially manufactured raw dog food. You can feel safe that if you feed your dog raw dog food from a reputable manufacturer that it will not be exposed to the bacteria and parasites discussed above. Manufacturers of raw dog food use several different methods to ensure this: High-Pressure Pasteurization HPP : In this process, meat products are exposed to extremely high pressures. This pressurization inactivates or kills off microbial bacteria which makes the food sterile. Batch testing: Companies that do not want to use pasteurization use this method to test for the presence of harmful bacteria. This is the same method that the USDA uses to inspect the meat that is sold for human consumption. So this means that the meat is tested twice, which is a step above the standards that the USDA uses for humans! Inspecting the health of the herd that the animal came from: Research has shown that well cared for, stress and drug-free livestock shed significantly less harmful bacteria including E. Coli and Salmonella than feedlot cattle, which are often raised in stressful, inhuman conditions. The companies that rely on this method only purchase cattle from farmers who raise their cattle in an ethical, very health-conscious manner. Precautions when introducing your German Shepherd to commercially produced raw food Not all raw commercially available raw dog foods are properly nutritionally balanced. Because of this many dogs develop nutritional imbalances that can be avoided by purchasing a properly balanced food. A food must have a proper balance of: Antioxidants Vitamins Fatty Acids The key takeaway here is to not wait until your German Shepherd develops a nutritional imbalance before you realize the importance of giving him the proper food in the first place. Making this shift too quickly can cause GI problems like diarrhea. Also be aware that you should never mix dry kibble and raw dog food together. This is because the two food sources are metabolized differrently by a dog since raw foods are mostly protein and dry kibble is mostly starch. If all is fine, then increase the frequency of the raw food treats for a few days, and then go for an entire meal replacement. Repeat this process for a few days, and if all remains well then you are safe to switch over entirely from dry kibble to raw dog food. Final Thoughts Feeding your dog raw meat is great for your dog both from a nutritional standpoint as from a mental health point of view. Happy dogs are healthy dogs, and few things make a dog happier than eating raw meat! Just be sure that you take the proper precautions when preparing raw meat for your dog, and just use common sense. It seems many of us can relate to health problems we have encountered while feeding our dogs dried processed dog food. He is 8 years old, so an older dog, and I was told he may have cancer. Knowing this, I knew I had to focus on his bone health and at the same time stay away from all sugars and grains as cancer can feed on both of these. I also make sure to feed Boaz raw organ meats times a week. Organ meats contain nearly every nutrient including B vitamins, folic acid, minerals like phosphorus, iron, copper, magnesium and iodine. They also provide the important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Also important is making sure that Boaz is getting vegetables into his diet. Every week in his own batch of broth, I include vegetables with dark leafy greens which he devours. The calcium in his diet is coming from the raw beef and chicken bones and fermented dairy of yogurt and cottage cheese. When feeding dogs bones, make sure they are always raw. Never feed your dog cooked bones of any kind as they can splinter and cause intestinal problems. For his essential fatty acids, I give Boaz a teaspoon every day of fermented cod liver oil and cold pressed flaxseed oil.

These places are run purely for profit and will cut corners to boost their income. They keep their dogs in basic accommodation usually kennels , which are often filthy. The puppies are often weak and sickly, and many die pretty early on. There have also been hundreds of cases where people have bought purebred pups, but these turn out to be mutts. The answer is clear: Avoid Craigslist when buying animals! If you find a reputable local breeder, they will welcome you to the site to visit with them and meet the parent dogs. Some may allow you to see the pups, but access is sometimes restricted to stop them from getting sick. Check out the breeder thoroughly, and be sure to ask questions. A good breeder will tell you to do this anyway, as they have nothing to hide and will be only too pleased to connect you with happy customers who will provide testimonials. Even so, these beautiful animals can be found in shelters across America, along with thousands of other dogs. On rare occasions our dogs have flown out to their destination, again accommpanied by one of the Regis Regal team to ensure for a very smooth and calm trip. We also go through a very thorough process to make sure our dogs are going to the right kind of owner - at the end of the day it's really important that we can rest easy at night knowing they'll be going to someone that's going to love them as much as we do. Because of COVID we've held plenty of online meetings where you can ask us any questions about our dogs, and you can even get to meet-and-greet them virtually! Reviews from Customers based in OH We like to think we've made a lot of people in Ohio happy over the years that we've been in business. As a hybrid dog, the Golden Irish will inherit the physical and behavioral traits of both its parent dog breeds, however, not all Golden Irish dogs will inherit the same characteristics even if from the same litter. It is recommended to familiarize yourself with both the Golden Retriever and the Irish Setter if you are planning on adopting a Golden Irish as the breed can have more characteristics of one parent breed than the other. Golden Irish are known for being very loyal and affectionate dogs with exceptional agility. They are very friendly and should make a wonderful companion or family dogs. Golden Irish are active dogs that require regular exercise to maintain their physical and mental well-being. Exercise is essential as it helps them burn off excess energy, maintain a healthy weight, strengthen their muscles and bones, improve their cardiovascular health, and prevent behavioral issues such as boredom and destructive behaviors. The intensity necessary may vary depending on their age, health, and lifestyle. Responsible dog owners should ensure that their furry friends get plenty of exercise to keep them healthy and happy. Our parent lines have all been tested to ensure that they are healthy. Since this cross is not a purebred it is referred to as a Golden Irish puppy, Irish Golden puppy or an Irish Retriever puppy. We have been a part of raising this breed for more than 15 years. We have concentrated our efforts on this cross to bring you a puppy from our home in northwestern Indiana to your home! Starting in , we began raising purebred Irish Setters. While not a cross we plan to make often, it is one that we plan to raise. The Irish Setters that we raise come from many generations of champion bloodlines who were show and bench. We are conveniently located in Indiana, about half-way between Chicago and Indianapolis. Generally, we use American Airlines out of Chicago. Our Golden Irish puppies live from coast to coast! We have Golden Irish puppies living in their forever homes from Washington D. We also have many living closer to home in Chicago, Illinois and the surrounding midwest! In other words, shipping our Golden Irish puppies has been a popular option especially for those who do not wish to make a long road trip to pick up their puppy. We at Golden Ridge Hi-Breds are comfortable with shipping our Golden Irish puppies via these professional pet carrying airlines. We are willing to arrange to ship your puppy to you, if this your best option. We are not a kennel, all our Australian Labradoodles have wonderful fulfilling lives either with us or our guardian families. Our dogs are for life and not just for breeding. The health and temperament of Australian Labradoodles is our number one priority, of course we breed exceptionally lovely puppies but our puppies health and temperament will always be our first priority. The Australian Labradoodle breed originated in Australia in the 's. The focus has always been on temperament, coat and quality through good health testing and planned matings. Our Australian Labradoodles are multigenerational, meaning both parents are Australian Labradoodles. Australian Labradoodles are very people focussed, they have a strong desire to please. Australian Labradoodles come in 3 sizes, miniature, medium and standard. Within my breeding programme I concentrate on miniature and mediums. Our Australian Labradoodles are extremely clever, sociable , comical and joyful. They are energetic when free and quiet in the home. We test their hips, elbows, eyes and genetics. When you purchase a Ripley's Australian Labradoodle you can be assured we have tested everything possible. We provide a 2 year health guarantee but we ask that our puppy families not give ingestible flea and worming treatments. We have both been animal lovers since we were children. There is no animal we don't love. All life, whatever you are, is precious! We both were brought up spending school holidays volunteering with our mums at a pony rescue and cats protection league. Animal Welfare is extremely important to both of us and we raise every puppy with the love and care they deserve. We are very lucky to have 3, soon to be 4, healthy children that also play a huge part in raising our dogs and puppies. You will see our children regularly on the puppy cam, playing and even cleaning out the puppies. Alex is chief puppy cleaner and gets very upset if anyone tries to help him as he likes the puppy area to be just perfect. Teaching children compassion and love is very important and we do feel very lucky that we can do that for our children with the love and care we put into our puppies. Being around animals and being able to work with them everyday is not only a passion but a childhood dream. We have worked with dogs for the last 16 years and have a very successful doodle dog grooming salon. This is where our love for Australian labradoodles was born. Out of all the dogs we groom, pedigree and cross breeds in our busy salon, we have never come across a breed of dog that is as wonderful as an Australian labradoodle. Australian labradoodles are born to be a companion, and a dog the whole family can enjoy. Having been brought up in a family that had rescue dogs, rescue cats and rescue chickens, its very important to us that our puppies and dogs are raised to the highest welfare standards, and we will campaign and help other breeders willing to work to the same high standards we have here at Willows Australian Labradoodles. Not every Australian Labradoodle is created equally, so we can't stress enough the importance of buying from a breeder that is doing all the health testing not just one test and then claiming that they are health tested and raised the puppies in a family home. As each person and family plays such an important part of having the highest welfare and the best quality dogs possible. Mouthing Overprotectiveness Early socialization and consistent training can help with overcoming any negative traits your dog might have. Since both of these breeds are intelligent breeds , your dog is likely to be very smart and bring you years of fun. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They are very protective and great with kids. Since Rottweilers are prone to having issues with bloat, you want to give them meals staggered through the day, rather than allowing your dog to eat anything he wants. Otherwise, he might be overeating so he feels full. They need serious exercise. These big dogs need hour-long walks, jogs, or runs per day. You can do it at once or you can do shorter walks. Not only that, but they love agility training with a frisbee or ball. This will help keep him mentally stimulated. This can be things like: Barking Chewing Urinating or defecating inside Another great way that you can give him exercise is to take him to a dog park. This will allow him to socialize with some other dogs and get the exercise he needs. We reviewed the best anti chew sprays — see our top picks here! A lot of people believe that dogs such as Rottweilers need dominance training. This kind of training is best achieved by establishing boundaries and rules. You want to reinforce them using a consistent, firm approach. You can give them a role like carrying a stick, backpack , or ball on your hike or walk. Grooming will help cut down on shedding. Doing this is going to help with removing loose dirt, hair and tangles that might be on his body. Golden Rotties have ears that are folded over, where excess moisture can be trapped easily. This can cause irritations and infections easily. When you dry his ears thoroughly, you can avoid these issues. This will help keep his paws snag-free and healthy. However, with any type of crossbreed, your Golden Rottie Retriever may have issues that are common with Golden Retrievers and Rottweilers. Minor Conditions. Rottweiler mixed with Golden Retriever Rottweiler mixed with the golden retriever Golden Retriever The Golden Retriever is a large-scale gun dog that recovers shot waterfowl during hunting and shooting parties, such as ducks and upland game birds. Golden retrievers enjoy water naturally and are easy to train to simple and advanced levels of obedience. They are a long-coated breed with a thick inner coat that gives them ample outdoor heat and an outer layer that lies flat against their bodies and repels rain. Golden retrievers are ideal for living in suburban or country settings. The breed of purebred dogs is a famous participant in conformation shows. The Golden Retriever is popular as a dog with disability assistance, such as being a blind guide dog and a deaf hearing dog. They are trained as a hunting dog, a tracking dog, and a partner in search and rescue. It is a medium sized, solidly built breed with a dense, water repelling wavy coat. Some regional variations have emerged in the kind as a dog with pedigree breeding origins due to its widespread historical popularity. Hence, the three Golden Retriever subtypes reflect the typical variations in dimensions and coat. The Rottweiler The RottweilerIt is a amazing dog breed, considered to be a large breed here in America. German Rottweilers are top bred dogs just like the Serbian Rottweilers. Rottweilers are used as search and rescue dogs, guard dogs, and police dogs. Rottweilers make great family pets and great guard dogs. Grooming needs are ver simple. Rottweilers all have similar looks but you must know the breed standard to really see the differences. They are medium to large standard size. Golden Rottie The loyal and friendly Golden Rottie is a dedicated and protective family pet that combines the best of two large breed dogs. The downside of having Rottweiler mixed with golden retriever may be that this becomes an issue when, when young, he is not socialized and becomes ultra-sensitive to sudden sounds or new faces—responding aggressively and continuously barking or becoming violent. Your big boy can be welcoming to children, other family pets and dogs when socialized adequately and is a joy to have as a family pet. Features of golden Rotttie Size, height and weight An adult male Rottie can weigh between 95 and pounds and stand between 24 and 27 inches in height. A Rottweiler female can weigh between 80 and pounds and stand between 22 and 25 inches. Golden Rottie crosses such a variety of heights and weights, the best way to predict the weight and height of your adult Golden Rottweiler puppy is to know as much as you can about the length, height, and weight of each parent dog. A diet rich in protein is best with your Golden Rottie being a muscular, highly active pooch. And within an hour of feeding, no workout or intense activity should be expected. This dog is highly vulnerable to common problems later in life, so you must create and maintain an ideal weight by not allowing him to over-eat. To avoid the problems that may arise when an always hungry dog is around people or food, it is essential that while his food is high in protein that satisfies his hunger, it is also low in carbohydrates. Training The parent breeds of the Golden Rottie are both very intelligent. When you combine the ease to please temperament of the Golden with the skill of the Rottie to follow instructions without the need for constant repetition, this pooch learning is a relatively simple process. Today, some believe that dominance training is required for a dog like a Rottie, where the pack-leader is known as the owner versus the dog. This type of training should never be aggressive and can be done by setting rules and boundaries and then using a firm, consistent approach to reinforce them. It can be as easy as having him hold his ball, a stick or a bag on your ride or run. Given its large size, when properly socialized, this dog is kind and loving, getting along well with kids and other animals. He should bark if what he sees as a threat—like new faces or sounds. While this makes him a good protector, it also means that unless his interaction has helped him accept new faces and become relaxed in different situations. He can become a nuisance barker. Golden Retrievers are known to be suffering from anxiety about separation. You may well experience that with this dog, and it may be something you need to look for and work. Stress from being alone, like a lack of exercise or mental stimulation, can result in destructive behaviors. This is because they were crossed in an attempt to limit or eliminate known medical problems. That said, you must understand what your new family member will inherit from the line and the Golden Rottie. Which can include joint issues from both parents, other Golden Retriever tumors and allergies, as well as Rottweiler bloat and aortic stenosis? Life Expectancy The Golden Rottie will need regular exercise. Top-quality food tailored for its age and size, and preventive maintenance checks with your veterinarian to ensure a long, healthy life. As a result, you can expect him to live for 10 to 12 years, which is quite typical of a bigger dog. ACK is solely devoted to the development of pure breed dog breeds. At this time, none of the other, lesser-known registries recognizes this dog as well. Puppies It can be expected that Golden Rotties will have a litter size between 6 and 10 puppies. Litters may be to large to be handled gently from birth. Because these babies come from two smart dog breeds, they are going to be easy to train. Start teaching basic commands from a few months of age. Socialization will be an essential part of raising a well-adjusted dog. The earlier the better, that will get along well with children and other animals, and this process can begin from an early age as well. Exposure to new faces, other animals, sights and sounds that are done slowly and over time. Typically between the ages of 2 and 4 months. It will help the new pup build trust in a controlled environment. Golden Rottie breeders are hard to find. Depending on the quality of the breeder i. The strength and endurance of the parents. When you decide to buy a dog instead of a puppy, it might be a little better for him or her. These dogs are a perfect choice for a family pet. The Golden Rottweilers can be a good watchdog due to its protection. Whenever he perceives danger, he will not hesitate to bark to warn his family. It would be better if at least three times a week you brushed them. They are protective of making Golden Rottweilers a good watchdog.
