With their signature bat ears and expressive eyes, French Bulldogs, or "Frenchies" as they are lovingly known, have captured the hearts of many dog lovers around the globe, consistently ranking among the most popular breeds. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water. Read more about the pups that are currently up for adoption. Currently, we spend about an hour walking in the park and community with my current dog Max. Pending weather, Sammy and Max will run and play in the dog park. We return home and Sammy and Max finishes any unfinished food and gets a drink of water. Max and Sammy are also fed their second meal of the day. Upon returning home from their second walk, they play with my son and other relatives. Sammy enjoys the dog park and playing with other dogs. He loves running outside in my front yard with Max and our tenants dog - Luna. He enjoys playing with toys and just running around with Max and my son Jules. Last, Sammy loves playing catch. He loves fetching a ball or other item. Sam doesn't like the crate. He is very protective of food bones and toys. We continue to work on this issue. Sammy has completed our family. We've deeply enjoyed adding him to our household. He brings joy and immense happiness to our home. He is sweet, adorable, and more important loveable. We have fallen in love with him. He plants himself where ever I am at. Sooo sweet! Today is day 4 with us and we are enjoying time together! Sammy is settling in nicely with his foster sister Lola. He loves to play with her and go for walks! He is up for adoption. About lbs. A Very good boy. Walks nicely on a leash but has alot of energy just like a Boxer. The foster home is looking for a home with a female dog to exercise him and a fenced in yard. He loves everyone and all other dogs. Thank you Joanna for taking him! He will keep Lola very busy playing. I will miss this little sweetheart. Both my husband and I fell in love with him and his cute little antics. He is very smart, loving and a very good boy. He has such a personality! I immediately thought " I see Pug" since my friend had a black pug years ago. He needs another dog and a fenced in yard to burn his energy.Has been great with all dogs, kids and just personable with everyone. Below you will see him chewing a bully stick, prancing around with it in his mouth like a cigar and then trying to find a good place to bury the end of it. He finally decided the long dog toy basket would do the trick, moving the toys around to cover it. He enjoys climbing in and looking around for that perfect toy that he might want to play with. He is about 35 lbs and all love. He will definitely keep you laughing. If you know anyone who may be a match for Sammy, have them fill out an application at www. Sammy says " I love my toys and bones and I even talk to them! I love all people and kids and talk to them too! My foster mom says I am such a silly boy and I keep her laughing, I don't know why. I am just being my cute little self and happy go lucky all the time. Like the other day I took my favorite toy, Miss Lambchop outside to tinkle with me.Yesterday I ran around the yard with Merlin with the ball in my mouth and again, foster mom was hysterical, although she did say it was so cute. I haven't met a dog I didn't like and foster mom says I just go with the flow! We'll update again soon! He is looking for a home that has another dog and a fenced in yard so they can play! Boxers are not a good choice for first time dog owners because they are very independent thinkers which can make training them more of a challenge. They are extremely high energy and intelligent dogs as such owners must have the time needed to socialise and train their canine companion correctly from a young age. Owners also need to understand the specific needs of a powerful dominant and high prey drive dog so they never get the best of them. What about the boxer's prey drive? What about the boxer's playfulness? They remain very playful throughout their lives which is another reason they are such fun to have around in a home environment. What about the boxer's adaptability? Boxers need to have enough space to express themselves and therefore they are not suited to apartment living. They do a whole lot better when they have a large back garden to romp around in as often as they can making sure the fencing is secure enough to keep an athletic Boxer safely in. What about the boxer's excessive barking? Do Boxers like water? Because of their build and their shorter noses Boxers find it harder to stay afloat which is part of the reason why care should always be taken when these dogs are around swimming pools or ponds. Care should be taken when walking a Boxer that does like swimming anywhere near more dangerous water courses just in case they decide to leap in. Are Boxers good watchdogs? What about the boxer's vaccinations? At only a year old we cannot figure out how this healthy hunk ended up there. Wallace is already neutered, vaccinated and almost 50lbs! Welcome Wallace! A good samaritan saved them before they were hit by speeding cars and took them to the local shelter. Their microchips were not registered and no one came to claim them. We thought someone must be missing these beauties but it appears they are another case of abandonment. They do not need to be adopted together. Could you be the person to offer this boy the loving environment he deserves? Meet Constantine! This supremely handsome fella is searching for a home where he can feel safe and loved. Constantine has shown some curiosity towards cats, and he might indulge in a playful chase, so a slow introduction would be best. His care team also believes he may have been beaten up or picked on by other dogs. Constantine has received all necessary veterinary care, but the wounds on his leg are still visible and healing. Do you have the patience, time and commitment a young, energetic boxer needs? Link below to apply to adopt Constantine! Same sex bully breed aggression is a real thing, and all too often an owner having to surrender a dog they love dearly is the unfortunate outcome, but the only solution. Brown is an absolute joy of a dog! He knows his basic commands, will give paw and lives to be close to his people. He is 4. He is kind to humans and kids, but has never been exposed to cats or dogs other than his k-9 sibling with whom he is fighting. At this time we feel a home with no other pets would be best for Brown, but will consider an experienced home with a docile female dog. Puppy pads Create a Schedule Golden Retriever pups would do well with a schedule. Dogs live with a routine, and they are easy to train by having one. For this reason, make a schedule of the things you need to do regularly. Eventually, your pup will learn the routine events and will make itself adept at them. It will help you prepare for your pet, especially in the first few days of living together. As you allow your pet to adjust, do your best to create a stress-free environment for it. Always supervise it as it familiarizes itself with its new home. It can even grow louder as they age. Moderate Training Golden Retrievers responds well, especially to positive reinforcement. Squeaky Toys Out of all toys, your pet will love the squeaky ones. For this reason, prepare for a lot of loud squeaks every time your pet is active. Thus, in picking your pet, you may want to consider getting it from the best. Tells you any health problems A good breeder will tell you any significant health problems in any of the dogs he or she bred. Asks more questions than you A good breeder would ask for more items from you than you would for him or her. Not in a hurry to send off A good breeder is not in a hurry to send the puppies off and get your money. He or she will even show you other breeders and veterinarians caring for their dogs. Requires expectations on both sides A good breeder will create a contract that offers not only what he or she expects from you. More than that, he or she will also show what you can expect from him or her. Sends puppies properly A good breeder will never send a puppy in a compartment and without any responsible person to go with it. Works only with one or two breeds A good breeder works only with a single or a couple of species. Shows breeding experience A good breeder shows her dogs in recognized confirmation shows. He or she will also join his or her breed in other breed-related performance events. Other states. We acquired our first Golden Retriever in and our first Labrador retriever in .We started doing obedience work with our dogs, but once we began showing our dogs in conformation in the early 's, we were hooked. Some of our most cherished friends are our breeder and dog friends. We breed English style Labradors and American style Golden Retrievers with loving dispositions, which are the hallmarks of these breeds. Most of our breedings are done by artificial insemination from top producing stud dogs, primarily on the mainland USA and Canada. We use both fresh chilled and frozen semen. Breeding and showing dogs in Hawaii is quite a challenge as we are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, miles from any major land mass. Because Hawaii is a rabies free state, we have up to a four month quarantine for dogs coming into the state from any location other than England, Australia and New Zealand. We have imported our foundation stock from the mainland USA and most of them have spent one to four months in the state operated Quarantine Station on Oahu. Young puppies must complete a four month stay in quarantine before we can bring them home. Older dogs usually spend 30 days in quarantine after satisfying the State's "pre-quarantine" requirements. Just recently, the state has introduced a new program which allows for "airport release" of an older dog. Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands. The government, economic and population center of the state is located on the Island of Oahu and most of the dogs shows are held on that island. Showing our dogs means loading them into crates for the 20 minute flight to Oahu, which sounds simple, but since September 11, , nothing is simple when air travel is involved. Thank you for visiting. Please come back to view new updates and pictures. Family Photo's of Sand Dollar Retrievers reads.
Although a playful pup sounds endearing, consider how many games of fetch or tag you want to play each day, and whether you have kids or other dogs who can stand in as playmates for the dog. The Golden is slow to mature and retains the silly, playful personality of a puppy until three to four years of age, which can be both delightful and annoying. Many keep their puppyish traits into old age. Originally bred for the physically demanding job of retrieving ducks and other fowl for hunters, the Golden needs daily exercise : a walk or jog, free time in the yard, a run at the beach or lake Goldens love water , or a game of fetch. And like other intelligent breeds who were bred to work, they need to have a job to do, such as retrieving the paper, waking up family members, or competing in dog sports. A tired Golden is a well-behaved Golden. As well as giving your Golden Retriever physical and mental exercise , you should also be prepared to include him in your family activities. Golden Retriever Highlights Golden Retrievers shed a lot, especially during spring and fall. Brushing their coat daily helps remove loose hair, preventing it from spreading on your clothes and around your home. Living with a Golden means embracing their shedding. Golden Retrievers are active and require minutes of vigorous exercise every day. They enjoy obedience training, agility classes, and other dog activities that provide both physical and mental stimulation. While they are gentle and reliable around children, Golden Retrievers are large and exuberant, which might accidentally knock over small kids. Goldens have hearty appetites and can become overweight if overfed. Manage treats, measure their daily food portions, and feed them regular meals instead of leaving food out all day. Due to their popularity, some breeders prioritize profit over the well-being of the dogs. To ensure a healthy pup, avoid irresponsible breeders, puppy mills, or pet stores. Look for reputable breeders who test their breeding dogs for genetic diseases and focus on good temperaments. Golden Retriever History For many years, there was a legend that Golden Retrievers were descended from Russian sheepdogs bought from a circus. In fact, the breed was developed in Scotland, at the highland estate of Sir Dudley Majoribanks, later known as Lord Tweedmouth. Tweedmouth, like many gentry of his day, bred animals of all kinds, trying to perfect different breeds. He also wanted the dog to be loyal and even-tempered in the home. Tweedmouth kept mostly the yellow puppies to continue his breeding program, and gave others away to friends and relatives. The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in .Today, the Golden Retriever is the second most popular breed in the U. Golden Retriever Size Males are 23 to 24 inches tall and weigh 65 to 75 pounds. Females are generally .Golden Retrievers usually reach their full height by one year of age, and their mature weight by two. Golden Retriever Personality A sweet, calm nature is the hallmark of the breed. The Golden was bred to work with people, and is eager to please his owner. Though hard-wired with a good disposition, like all dogs the Golden must be well-raised and well-trained to make the most of his heritage. Socialization helps ensure that your Golden puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog. Health clearances prove that a dog has been tested for and cleared of a particular condition. You can confirm health clearances by checking the OFA web site offa. Some dogs show pain and lameness on one or both rear legs, but you may not notice any signs of discomfort in a dog with hip dysplasia. As the dog ages, arthritis can develop. Dogs with hip dysplasia should not be bred. Elbow Dysplasia: This is a heritable condition common to large-breed dogs. This can lead to painful lameness. Your vet may recommend surgery to correct the problem or medication to control the pain. Cataracts: As in humans, canine cataracts are characterized by cloudy spots on the eye lens that can grow over time. Cataracts can usually be surgically removed with good results. Early in the disease, dogs become night-blind. As the disease progresses, they lose their daytime vision as well. Many dogs adapt to limited or complete vision loss very well, as long as their surroundings remain the same. Subvalvular Aortic Stenosis: This heart problem is caused by a narrow connection between the left ventricle out-flow and the aorta. It can cause fainting and even sudden death. Your vet can detect it and prescribe the proper treatment. Osteochondrosis Dissecans OCD : This orthopedic condition, caused by improper growth of cartilage in the joints, usually occurs in the elbows, but it has been seen in the shoulders as well. It causes a painful stiffening of the joint, to the point that the dog is unable to bend his elbow. It can be detected in dogs as early as four to nine months of age. Allergies: Golden Retrievers can be allergic to a variety of substances, ranging from food to pollen. If your Golden is licking his paws or rubbing his face a great deal, have him checked by your vet. The main symptom is excessive bleeding after an injury or surgery. Other symptoms include nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or bleeding in the stomach or intestines. There is no cure, and a blood transfusion from the blood of normal dogs is currently the only treatment. Research is underway for new treatments, including medication. A vet can test your dog for the condition. Dogs with this condition should not be bred. Bloat occurs when the stomach is distended with gas or air and then twists. The dog is unable to belch or vomit to rid himself of the excess air in his stomach, and blood flow to the heart is impeded. Blood pressure drops and the dog goes into shock. Without immediate medical attention, the dog can die. Suspect bloat if your dog has a distended abdomen, is drooling excessively, and retching without throwing up. He also may be restless, depressed, lethargic, and weak with a rapid heart rate. If you notice these symptoms, get your dog to the vet as soon as possible. Epilepsy : Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes periodic seizures and convulsions. Your vet will need to know how severe the seizures are and how often they occur to determine what medication to prescribe, if any. Hemangiosarcoma : This is a very dangerous form of cancer that originates in the lining of blood vessels and spleen. It most commonly occurs in middle-age and elderly dogs. Golden Retriever Care Golden Retrievers are built for action and love outdoor romps. If you like to hike or jog, your Golden will be happy to join you. Slacking on the activity, however, could lead to behavior problems. These dogs grow very rapidly between the age of four and seven months, making them susceptible to bone disorders. Normal play on grass is fine, and so are puppy agility classes. Golden Retriever Feeding Recommended daily amount: 2 to 3 cups of high-quality dry food a day, divided into two meals. NOTE: How much your adult dog eats depends on his size, age, build, metabolism, and activity level. It almost goes without saying that a highly active dog will need more than a couch potato dog. Keep your Golden in good shape by measuring his food and feeding him twice a day rather than leaving food out all the time. First, look down at him. You should be able to see a waist. Then place your hands on his back, thumbs along the spine, with the fingers spread downward. You should be able to feel but not see his ribs without having to press hard. They do well on a high-quality, low-calorie diet that keeps them from growing too fast. For more on feeding your Golden, see our guidelines for buying the right food , feeding your puppy , and feeding your adult dog. Some coats are wavy, some are straight. The fur feathers on the back of the front legs and underbody, with heavier feathering on the chest, back of the thighs, and tail. Golden Retrievers come in all shades of gold, from light to dark gold. Golden Retrievers shed moderately in the winter and summer, and heavily in the spring and fall. Daily brushing is recommended to prevent tangling, and once a week is the bare minimum. Your Golden will also need a bath at least once a month, often more frequently, to keep him looking and smelling clean. Daily brushing is even better if you want to prevent gum disease and bad breath. Short, neatly trimmed nails keep the feet in good condition. Dog toenails have blood vessels in them, and if you cut too far you can cause bleeding — and your dog may not cooperate the next time he sees the nail clippers come out. Fold-over ears create a warm, dark environment for bacteria or fungus to grow in, and breeds that have them — such as the Golden — are prone to ear infections. His ears should be checked weekly for redness or a bad odor, which can indicate an infection. Check them every time he gets wet, too. Handle his paws frequently — dogs are touchy about their feet — and look inside his mouth. As you groom, check for sores, rashes, or signs of infection such as redness, tenderness, or inflammation on the skin, in the nose, mouth, and eyes, and on the feet. Eyes should be clear, with no redness or discharge. Your careful weekly exam will help you spot potential health problems early. As with every breed, you should always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog, no matter how friendly, should ever be left unsupervised with a child. He enjoys the companionship of other dogs , and with proper introductions and training, can be trusted with cats, rabbits, and other animals. Golden Retriever Rescue Groups Goldens are often purchased without any clear understanding of what goes into owning one. There are many Goldens in need of adoption and or fostering. There are a number of rescues that we have not listed. Golden Retriever Club of America, Inc. Reputable breeders are committed to breeding healthy, well-socialized puppies that will make great companions. They will screen their breeding stock for health problems, socialize their puppies from a young age, and provide you with lifetime support. On the other hand, backyard breeders are more interested in making a profit than in producing healthy, well-adjusted dogs. They may not screen their breeding stock for health problems, and they may not socialize their puppies properly. As a result, puppies from backyard breeders are more likely to have both health and behavioral issues. More Info For You. If you would like to have the puppy held for you, make a deposit online. They thrive in homes with yards where they can run. They can also adapt to apartment living as long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. These dogs do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they are not at all happy about being left alone for long periods of time. View Profile I photograph all kinds of things, but over the time I've noticed that the decaying, abandoned and forgotten things are particularly close to my heart. Times change, needs change, without photography, who will remember yesterday? Taking pictures is my therapeutic way to express myself, to deal with my past, my future, explore the world around me and to remind and to remember, to stop, take a breath, to view, to explore the change and growth, to admire the wonders around us. I would like to remind you that beauty is everywhere, you don't have to go far to experience the beauty. Autumn's mortality and beautiful colors interests me. I prefer taking pictures in ambient light and in old abandoned places or where ever I take photos, I never touch or move anything I photograph. The authenticity of the moment and the object is important to me and I want to show it to the people just the way they were. The most beautiful experiences lie in the fleeting moments, so seize the moment and save it to your camera! Satisfaction Guaranteed Our day satisfaction guarantee allows you to buy with confidence. Well, studies have shown that canines respond most to the 1st syllable in words. For example, if you say to your puppy, "Sit down right now", that pup is going to pay the most attention to the "Si" sound. He or she, when well trained, will recognize the "si" in "sit down right now" as the cue to do as you are asking. Therefore, an owner does not want to choose a name that has the same first syllable as words that they would commonly use on a daily basis. german shepherd puppies nl - Puppy Breeds A huge part of the American culture, the American bulldog is one of the most loved and sought-after dog breeds in the United States and the world at large. Due to their obvious strength and agility, they are often viewed as a kind of cultural icon in America. Discover more about our American Bulldog puppies for sale below! Breed History In the past, the English bulldog was used by foreign immigrants who moved to South America and brought their dogs with them. The breed, however, became close to extinction after the second world war. Some breeders, John D. Johnson, and Alan Scott kept infusing several bulldogs together in the bid to breed the American Bulldog while monitoring its health and capabilities. Today, the American bulldog is completely rid of the fear of being extinct and has become one of the most popular dog breeds in the country. Temperament The American bulldog is many sizes larger than the English Bulldog; however, they are quite similar when it comes to their temperament. It is basically a huge, cuddly, lap dog that loves children and is very affectionate. It is brave, confident and extremely loyal to its owners. They can be quite reserved when around strangers as they like to mark their territories. When trained from a young age, the American Bulldog will display an impressive level of intelligence. They are not so friendly with other strange dogs and mostly like to keep to themselves. Environment As earlier stated, the American bulldog is a fun-loving, happy dog that thrives in a family setting. The perfect environment for this breed would be a home with a large backyard that is well fenced-in. Since they are very energetic and must be kept active, it is imperative to their growth that they have ample space to run around during the day. This is crucial for their mental and physical well-being. For dog lovers who live in apartments, the American bulldog might not be the best option for them. This is because there is inadequate space for them and being left alone would adversely affect their mental health. They can also become very irritable and destructive if left alone for long periods as they need constant mental and physical stimulation. Exercise The American Bulldog needs about two hours of outdoor exercise on a daily basis. It goes without saying that this breed is not suitable for people who work many hours every day. This dog breed requires basic physical and mental stimulation like jogging, walking, chasing balls, playing fetch, farm work, agility, and basic obedience exercises. Due to the temperament of the American Bulldog, it has to get as much exercise preferably in the outdoors. If its exercise requirements are not consistently met, this dog breed will take out its frustration in your home by chewing apart and basically destroying everything it comes in contact with while running around. Grooming The American Bulldog has quite a short coat with a minimized length and this feature makes it easy to groom. Brushing their coats weekly is usually enough when it comes to grooming the American Bulldog as they do not shed a lot. They also need thorough baths weekly or as needed as this will keep the shedding in check. Our American Bulldog puppies for sale come from either USDA licensed commercial breeders or hobby breeders with no more than 5 breeding mothers. We only purchase puppies from the very best sources, and we stand behind every puppy we sell. Contact us today to learn more about the availability of our American Bulldog puppies for sale. American Bulldogs love routine and will adapt to an exercise and grooming routine if the owner enforces it perfectly. As loyal dogs, they love to please their owners but will only obey upon frequent reinforcements. Do American Bulldogs shed a lot? Since they do not have a lot of fur, they do not shed a lot and owners will not have a lot of hair to clean up, unlike many other dog breeds. Why do American Bulldogs have webbed feet? This is mainly due to genetics and is not a cause for concern. Should American Bulldogs be spayed? Many vets advise that American Bulldog owners should ensure their pets are neutered or spayed when it is between four and nine months. How often should American Bulldogs be fed? The American bulldog has a very large appetite in its formative years. They must, therefore, be fed very often about four times daily and in double portions when they are puppies right until they turn four. Are American Bulldogs a food fit in families? The American bulldog will fit right into your family. They love kids and tend to gravitate towards them. Do American Bulldogs have common health problems? A lot of the health problems experienced by American bulldogs are mostly genetic and do not affect the entire breed. These ailments could range from the kidney to thyroid disorders and a lot more. What is the American Bulldogs life expectancy? The American bulldog has an average lifespan ranging from ten to fifteen years. What is the American Bulldogs average size? The average American Bulldog can grow to 58kg for males and 41kg for females. However, it is important that their diets are closely monitored to keep them from getting overweight. How tall do American Bulldogs get? The male American bulldog can grow as tall as 71cm while its female counterpart can grow up to 61cm. A Day In The Life.Vocality level 3 in 5 Disclaimer: While the characteristics mentioned here may frequently represent this breed, dogs are individuals whose personalities and appearances will vary. Please consult the adoption organization for details on a specific pet. Temperament The American Bulldog is an agile, confident and loyal protector for his human family, as well as of personal property. He is a gentle, affectionate and loving companion, albeit fearless and ready to strike should any intruder cross his path. An energetic, active working dog, the American Bulldog exudes a dominant, powerful and athletic appearance, with strong muscles and substantial boning. He gets along well with young children, as well as dogs and other pets so long as he was raised with them from the start. The American Bulldog does not do well when left alone for prolonged periods of time. With proper socialization, training and regular exercise, the American Bulldog is a true companion and excellent watchdog. Upkeep Because of his working past, the American Bulldog is quite familiar with being outdoors, but like most dogs, he thrives on living indoors with his owner. As such, he should be frequently exercised with plenty of engaging activity to burn off energy and combat boredom, avoiding consequential destructive behavior. Otherwise, the American Bulldog is a relatively low-maintenance breed, requiring not much else than mopping up his regular drool and slobber and minimal grooming for his short, fine coat. Known for his strength, courage and ease around livestock, the breed began being used for bull baiting before it was outlawed in England. Consequently following the ban, the breed was replaced with the less athletic, shorter and stockier English Bulldog. Meanwhile, the original bulldog type was preserved by working class immigrants, who brought them on their journey to America to use as all-around working dogs on farms and ranches in the South. Johnson worked to revive the breed alongside Alan Scott and other breeders. Today, the modern American Bulldog as we know it remains a well-rounded working dog, courageous guard dog and faithful family companion. Related Content. A good dog breeder is registered in a breeders association and breeds according to the rules and guidelines of the respective breed association. In addition to participating in beauty and performance shows at dog shows, this also includes health checks on their breeding dogs. These papers show which ancestors were involved in the development of the puppy and whether inbreeding was carried out. What makes a serious dog breed? A reputable breeder is dedicated to their breed and usually only breeds this one breed. The prices that dog breeders charge for their puppies mostly flow back into dog breeding. A profit is hardly achieved with good and species-appropriate husbandry. How do I recognize a reputable breeder? First, make sure that the dog breed leaves a clean and well-groomed impression. The following points can also help you buy puppies from a reputable dog breeder: Do all animals look lively and healthy? Do the puppies grow up in the family instead of having to live in a kennel outside? Are the parent animals on-site? Are you allowed to visit the puppies several times? Is the breeder interested in your living conditions? Would they like to know as precisely as possible where their puppies will live? Does the dog breeder take special measures to give their puppies a good start in life? For example, do the puppies get to know car journeys and train journeys? Are they used to other pets and children? Does the breeder grant themself a right of repurchase in the event that the buyer wants to give their dog back? These points are indicators of a reputable breeder. In addition, you should make sure that the puppies are not over-vaccinated and dewormed before buying. Worming treatments in particular can cause permanent damage in puppies that cannot be justified by a potential benefit. If the dog breeder is critical of your questions, that is also a good sign. American Bulldog Breed Overview The American Bulldog is a fairly large breed with a height of inches for boys, inches for girls. Weight ranges from pounds in males, pounds in females. These dogs are strong, but proportionally built, and the breed has a rather formidable appearance. The exterior is a bit rough — American Bulldogs embody strength and power. Boys are larger and more massive, girls are slightly smaller, but without a hint of weakness or thin bones. The muzzle is elongated, wedge-shaped, the feet are not so clearly expressed. Cope with the role of hunters or detection dogs. Classic Johnson — massive and squat dogs similar to English bulldogs. The muzzle is square with a sharp stop. Often they have deep folds in the neck and head. These bulldogs are ideal for guards. Sometimes dog breeders include descriptions of two more types of the breed in the classification: Williamson — includes 2 subtypes: long-legged, extremely aggressive dogs and massive, balanced animals. Pantera are mini-bulldogs weighing up to 75 pounds, obtained by crossing classic and standard individuals. Modern breed members combine the traits of the Scott and Johnson types, as the main goal of breeders is to obtain hardy dogs with first-class performance. The main purpose of the American Bulldog is as a companion and bodyguard. Color and type of coat The body of the American Bulldog is covered with short fur, the length of which does not exceed 0. Permitted colors of the American breed: White — monochromatic or with small brindle or rufous markings. White-brindle, white-red from pale fawn to deep red — the background color can be either white or colored. Accordingly, in the first case, large spots of permitted colors will be scattered over the body, in the second — large white marks. Tiger, red-brindle — any shades are permissible from dark with red or fawn brindle to light with rare dark markings. The brighter and richer the colors, the better. Black, black and tan, blue, piebald with black markings without brindle, tricolor, marble colors, as well as the presence of a dark mask on the face are disqualifying defects of the breed. Before buying a puppy, it is recommended to get a full description of the breed — visit exhibitions, talk with breeders and other owners. Only an experienced dog breeder can handle a willful dog with a difficult character. It is important to correctly assess the strength and make sure that the future owner will definitely be able to subdue the dominant animal. It is better to buy a puppy from a reliable kennel or breeder. Sick pets or dogs with serious defects of temperament are often sold through ads on the Internet. Such an American bulldog is dangerous not only for others but also for the owner. A responsible breeder will be happy to tell you about the characteristics of the breed, the advantages and disadvantages of each puppy, not only give a verbal description but also demonstrate the litter and the parents. If mental instability is observed, it is worth contacting another nursery. Healthy American Bulldog puppies are active and curious, they do not show aggression and do not hide when they see a new person. A good puppy is evidenced by: strong, moderately well-nourished body; shiny coat without an unpleasant odor; clean eyes and ears;.
