We wanted to brag a little and let you know how well Ruari is doing. He just finished obedience school tonight and thought we'd share all the ribbons he has won over the past eight weeks. We couldn't be happier with the new addition to our family. He is such a nice dog and training very well. He loves to get up and play in the morning, and take naps on our floor during the afternoon. We bring lots of water for him to drink, and help keep him cool. He loves all our neighbors, and met our niece for the first time this week too, and was great around the baby the whole time. Anyways, we both wanted to let you know that we love Chewie very much, and to thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog! Today our little Rudder had his first birthday! We can't possibly tell you how he's changed our lives and made us more happy than we ever dreamed! Thank you again for such a well bred little wonder dog! Not a day goes by without someone asking who his breeder was! We are very very thankful to you both. She truly has exceeded my expectations for any puppy. She has gone into her crate on her own each night without a peep, 10pm-6am, and no accidents. We only have to give her a stern stare and she flops away from the door! She gets extremely excited when she meets a few excited children at once and will dribble. That has been it. I am floored at how bright she is, as was the vet at her check-up today. In fact, she grabbed her leash and signaled for the door to go potty. She has been doing this regularly and it has only been 3 days of torrential rain since we have gotten her! I should mention that we had him fixed in October. So, we are very pleased with Murphy. We often have family and friends with us on weekends and holidays and everyone loves him. A pedigree does not guarantee very much at all. The Kennel Club pedigree is simply a statement of ancestry and contrary to popular belief, does not imply that the puppy it belongs to or his parents have met any standards. The three credentials you need to personally check and verify are Temperament Abililty Temperament The most crucial of all credentials has to be temperament. An adult Labrador may weight in excess of 70lbs. These are large powerful dogs that everyone expects to be friendly. You cannot take any chances with poor temperament. He will inherit tendencies to friendliness or unfriendliness, nervousness or confidence etc, from both of his parents. Never buy a puppy without meeting his mother. And if you can meet the stud dog, so much the better. If you cannot meet the stud dog, make sure that someone who has met him, can vouch for his good nature. This may not be quite as crucial with a show champion as any successful show dog will have proven itself happy to be handled in the most personal manner by total strangers. Working dogs are a different matter, and occasionally dogs with poor temperaments do succeed in competition and are used at stud. Health Health credentials are essential. You must physically check certificates or copies of certificates way in advance of collecting your puppy. It is very hard to turn down a puppy once he is in your arms. Ability Ability is important if you have an activity in mind for your dog. Choosing a litter Narrowing down your choice to a single litter can be tough. Unless you have your heart set on a puppy from a particular dog, you may find it difficult to decide. In many cases though, there are not that many litters that meet the right criteria. You can narrow down your choice further by looking again at the breeder. How friendly and helpful is she? Do you think she will be supportive if you get into difficulties with your puppy? Has she offered to take the puppy back at any point in his life if you cannot cope? If you can answer yes to all three, then that is a real bonus point for that litter. This person is important and you need to feel that you can trust her. A breeder with a lot of dogs may have her pups in an outdoor kennel, but they should still spend lots of time with the family. ACVO American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists : This references a test done by a certified veterinary ophthalmologist to determine if dogs have any genetic eye diseases that could be passed on to puppies. At only 3 months old, Dawn made it to Best of Show during this show! It is the best feeling in the world to see the smiles on their faces and their eyes lighting up! They all had a blast! Captain obtained his Honors Bronze Champion Title. Both girls did well. They both won first in each of their classes and Dawn won Reserve Best of Breed in all four shows. We were unable to attend due to puppies being at home, but didnt want the girls to miss out on a great weekend of showing! Dawn got first in class for all three shows. Benelli got first in class all three shows. Benelli also got Reserve Best Female in two show and Best female in one show. For being at a show without mama and dad, the girls did so good! Special Needs Puppies These little ones need the most nutritious and high-quality food you can find. If you want to find an economic way to feed your dog, please do it later in his life.
