Ears in Head Piece Some costumes come with a headpiece, so you may want to start by putting that on your pup. Fasten Head Piece The next step is simple as long as you have a compliant pooch! If you fasten it too loosely, it may easily fall off. If you do it too tightly, it may be uncomfortable for your pet. Head Piece Attached When the headpiece is completely attached, your dog should look like a wacky character of your choosing! Make your final adjustments to ensure that the piece is secure on his head and not too tight. In this cartoon, he had a derby hat, small squinty eyes, big reddish nose, a high collar around his neck, a green long sleeve shirt, green pants, and a bald circle-like human head. At the end of the cartoon, the character tells the villain, the big bad wolf, that he is "the hero in this picture" after he hits the wolf in the head with a mallet. He then continued to make more appearances in the Warner cartoons in , such as in The Isle of Pingo Pongo made and copyrighted in , released in also Prototype-Elmer's second appearance , Cinderella Meets Fella , A Feud There Was the first time he is fully called "Elmer Fudd" , Johnny Smith and Poker-Huntas , Hamateur Night made and copyrighted in , released in , A Day at the Zoo made and copyrighted in , released in and Believe It or Else , mostly as a "running gag" character. In A Feud There Was , Elmer made his entrance riding a motor scooter with the words "Elmer Fudd, Peacemaker" displayed on the side, the first onscreen use of that name. Elmer then appeared on early merchandise and of early Looney Tunes books in and , [12] [13] and even on the lobby cards for "The Isle of Pingo Pongo" and for "Cinderella Meets Fella" with his name attached on them. Bryan , was hired to provide the voice of the hero dog character. Sometime later on in this year, some new drawings and redesigns of Elmer Fudd were being created by a character designer, Charlie Thorson. In , the Egghead-like Elmer's appearance was refined, giving him a chin and a less bulbous nose although still wearing his old clothing that he was wearing in Tex Avery's earlier cartoons and Arthur Q. Bryan's " Dan McFoo " voice in what most people consider Elmer Fudd's first true appearance: a Chuck Jones short entitled Elmer's Candid Camera , actually Elmer's Ninth appearance, in which a rabbit drives Elmer insane; the rabbit was an early appearance of what would become Bugs Bunny , beginning their long-standing rivalry. Jones would use this Elmer one more time, in 's Elmer's Pet Rabbit ; its other title character is labeled as Bugs Bunny but is also identical to his prototype in Camera. In the interim, the two starred in A Wild Hare. Elmer has a better voice, a trimmer figure designed by Robert Givens , which would be reused soon later in Jones' Good Night Elmer , this time without a red nose and his familiar hunting clothes. He is much more recognizable as the Elmer Fudd of later cartoons than Bugs is here. In his earliest appearances, Elmer actually "wikes wabbits", either attempting to take photos of Bugs, or adopting Bugs as his pet. The rascally rabbit has the poor Fudd so perplexed that there is little wonder as to why Elmer would become a hunter and in some cases actually proclaim, "I hate wittle gway wabbits! Elmer in Rabbit Fire Elmer's role in these two films, that of would-be hunter, dupe and foil for Bugs, would remain his main role forever after, and although Bugs Bunny was called upon to outwit many more worthy opponents, Elmer somehow remained Bugs' classic nemesis, despite or because of his legendary gullibility, small size, short temper, and shorter attention span. In Rabbit Fire , he declares himself vegetarian, hunting for sport only. In a few cartoons, though, he assumed a completely different persona—a wealthy industrialist type, occupying a luxurious penthouse , or, in one episode involving a role reversal , a sanitarium —which Bugs would of course somehow find his way into. In another cartoon Mutt in a Rut he appeared to work in an office and had a dog he called "Wover Boy", whom he took hunting, though Bugs did not appear. Several episodes featured Elmer differently. One What's Up, Doc? Elmer Fudd is a well-known entertainer who, looking for a new partner for his act, sees Bugs Bunny after passing caricatures of many other famous s actors Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby who, like Bugs, are also out of work. Elmer and Bugs do a one-joke act cross-country, with Bugs dressed like a pinhead, and when he does not know the answer to a joke, Elmer gives it and hits him with a pie in the face. Bugs begins to tire of this gag and pulls a surprise on Fudd, answering the joke correctly and bopping Elmer with a mallet , which prompts the man to point his rifle at Bugs. The bunny asks nervously: "Eh, what's up doc? Bugs tells Elmer they may be on to something, and Elmer, with the vaudevillian's instinct of sticking with a gag that catches on, nods that they should re-use it. According to this account, the common Elmer-as-hunter episodes are entirely staged. One episode where Bugs "lost" in the hunting was Hare Brush .Here, Elmer has been committed to an insane asylum because he believes he is a rabbit though it is also revealed that he is a millionaire and owns a mansion and a yacht. Bugs Bunny enters Fudd's room and Elmer bribes him with carrots , then leaves the way the real rabbit entered. Elmer's psychiatrist arrives, and thinking Fudd's delusion has affected his appearance, drugs Bugs and conditions him into believing that he is Elmer Fudd, after which Bugs starts wearing hunting clothes and acting like Elmer, hunting the rabbit-costumed Fudd, who is in turn acting like Bugs. Their hunt is cut short when Bugs is arrested by a government agent as Elmer Fudd is wanted for tax evasion. After Bugs is hauled away trying to explain that the rabbit is Elmer Fudd, Fudd breaks the fourth wall and tells the audience "I may be a scwewy wabbit, but I'm not going to Alcatwaz " as he hops away as if he had planned the whole thing. The Bugs—Elmer partnership was so familiar to audiences that in a late s cartoon, Bugs' Bonnets , a character study is made of what happens to the relationship between the two when they each accidentally don a different selection of hats Native American wig, pilgrim hat, military helmets, bridal veil and top hat, to name a few. The result is comic mayhem; a steady game of one-upmanship that ultimately leads to matrimony. He became a heavy-set, beer-bellied character, patterned after Arthur Q. Bryan's real-life appearance, and still chasing Bugs or vice versa. However, audiences did not accept a fat Fudd, so the slimmer version returned for good. This period also saw a temporary change in Elmer's relationship with Bugs Bunny. Instead of being the hunter, Elmer was the victim of unprovoked pestering by Bugs. In Wabbit Twouble , Bugs plays several gags on Elmer, advising the audience, "I do dis kind o' stuff to him all t'wough da picture! Elmer sings a variation of the old prospector's tune " Oh! Susanna " made just for this cartoon complete with the phrase "V for Victory" , with Bugs joining in just before starting to hassle Elmer. Elmer-speak He nearly always vocalised consonants [r] and [l], pronouncing them as [w] instead a trait that also characterized Tweety Bird when he would talk in his slightly raspy voice. This trait was prevalent in the Elmer's Candid Camera and Elmer's Pet Rabbit cartoons, where the writers would give him exaggerated lines such as, "My, that weawwy was a dewicious weg of wamb. The writers often gave him lines filled with those letters, such as doing Shakespeare 's Romeo as "What wight thwough yonduh window bweaks! You tweachewous miscweant! Part of the joke is that Elmer is presumably incapable of pronouncing his own first name correctly. Occasionally, Elmer would properly pronounce an "r" or "l" sound, depending on whether or not it was vital for the audience to understand what the word was. For example, in 's The Old Grey Hare , he clearly pronounces the "r" in the word "picture". Usually, Elmer mispronounces the "r" and "l" by substituting the sound of "w". Later appearances Arthur Q. Bryan died in , but the character was not completely retired at that time. Elmer made appearances in several television specials in the s and s, and some cameo roles in two of the Looney Tunes feature-film compilations. Elmer made a brief headshot cameo appearance in the final scene of Who Framed Roger Rabbit with other famous characters. Elmer would also appear frequently on the animated series Tiny Toon Adventures as a teacher at Acme Looniversity, where he was the idol and favorite teacher of Elmyra Duff , the slightly deranged animal lover who resembles Elmer in basic head design, name and lack of intellect. On the other hand, a younger version of him makes a single appearance in the episode Plucky's Dastardly Deed, and is named "Egghead Jr", the "smartest kid in class". Elmer also had a guest starring appearance on Histeria! Elmer made another appearance on Histeria! Elmer appears as part of the TuneSquad team in Space Jam. In one part of the game he and Yosemite Sam shoot out the teeth of one of the Monstars dressed in black suits while Misirlou is heard in the background, a reference TNG be early films of Quentin Tarantino. Elmer took on a more villainous role in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. He first appears as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck's co-star in a new movie, where he shoots Daffy repeatedly, and is later seen shooting Bugs per the film's script after Daffy's firing. He later appears in the Louvre museum, where he reveals himself to be a secret agent for the Acme Corporation. Elmer chases Bugs and Daffy through the paintings in the Louvre museum, taking on the different art styles as they do so. At the end, Elmer forgets to change back to his normal style after jumping out of the pointillist painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat , allowing Bugs to easily disintegrate Elmer by blowing a fan at him. A four-year-old version of Elmer was featured in the Baby Looney Tunes episode "A Bully for Bugs", where he kept taking all of Bugs' candy, and also bullied the rest of his friends. He was also shown with short blond hair. He appeared in most of the songs. An even more villainous Elmer appeared in two episodes of Duck Dodgers as The Mother Fudd, an alien who would spread a disease that caused all affected by it to stand around laughing like Elmer and resemble a grey-skinned version of him a parody of the Flood in Halo and the Borg in Star Trek. In Loonatics Unleashed , his descendant, Electro J. Fudd, tried to prove himself the universe's greatest hunter by capturing Ace Bunny , but settled for Danger Duck instead. Elmer himself also makes an appearance in the form of a photo which shows he presumably died at the hands of a giant squirrel. He was again voiced by Billy West. Portrayed as a wealthy businessman coming home after a hard day's work in the "Merrie Melodies" part of the episode "Best Friends," he sings about his love of " gwiwwed cheese " sandwiches. He later had a brief cameo appearance in "Fish and Visitors" as a weather forecaster briefly exclaiming about the rainy weather and doing his famous chuckle at the end. Later on, Elmer Fudd reports that EnormoCorp went out of business due to the worst business decision in the history of business decisions caused by its CEO Daffy Duck who succeeded the previous CEO Foghorn Leghorn who retired where he went with the "Proceed as Planned" choice instead of the "Delay the Merger" choice when he mistook Pete Puma as the new muffin man. As a result of this, Elmer mentioned that 10, of its workers are now out of a job and states that experts fear that the world economy could collapse. Elmer Fudd later joins the other characters in the Christmas song called "Christmas Rules" at the end of the episode. Elmer Fudd later reports on Daffy Duck's apparent death where he supposedly lost control of his parade float and drove into the St. Bastian River. He appears as a spy working for the Mexican general Foghorn Leghorn. In the story, Elmer is a bounty hunter that originated from the country side before he moved to Gotham to make ends meet. He considered putting the shotgun away for good when he fell in love with Silver St. Cloud , but she was killed by hitman Bugs "The Bunny". He goes to a bar called Porky's which has attendants that are humanoid versions of other famous Looney Tunes stars to kill Bugs. Bugs confesses to killing Silver, but avoids death by telling Elmer that Bruce Wayne hired him to do it. Elmer believes Bugs as Bruce was Silver's former lover, and shoots Bruce at a party for vengeance. Batman confronts Elmer in his apartment and defeats the gunman in a fight, where Elmer tells Batman about Silver's death and Bugs. Elmer and Batman return to Porky's and take out most of the crowd before confronting Bugs. The three are shocked to find Silver in the bar herself, where she revealed that she left Bruce and Elmer because of their dangerous lifestyles and had Bugs fake her death. The story ends with all three of the men requesting a glass of carrot juice from Porky. After getting shot by Elmer too many times, Batman takes Bugs' advice and makes it Robin season, causing Elmer to pursue the Dark Knight's sidekicks instead. The series executive producer and showrunner , Peter Browngardt, said the character could continue to use cartoon violence , such as dynamite and Acme related paraphernalia. Later, during the musician's union strike of , Dave Barry did the voice for Elmer's co-starring appearance in Pre-Hysterical Hare , as Bryan was ill during production of the cartoon. Although in more recent years other voice actors have alternated as Elmer's voice, Bryan's characterization remains the definitive one. He was never credited onscreen, because Blanc had a clause in his contract that required him to receive a screen credit and, perhaps inadvertently, denied the same to other voice performers. Blanc would take on the role regularly in the s, s and s, supplying Elmer's voice for new footage in The Bugs Bunny Show while Smith voiced the character in the commercials until when Blanc took up the role full time , The Porky Pig Show , compilation feature films and similar TV specials, as well as some all-new specials. He is the alter ego of geeky year-old computer ace Dexter Douglas voiced by David Kaufman , who became Freakazoid from an overloaded Pinnacle chip inside his computer. He attends Harry Connick Jr. High School. To transform into Freakazoid, Dexter says "Freak out! Dexter and Freakazoid sometimes identify as separate identities, and other times are considered the same person. She is unaware that her son is Freakazoid and is generally blithe and clueless. Douglas Douglas voiced by John P. McCann — Dexter's father who is incredibly incompetent, but attempts to keep his family in line regardless. Duncan Douglas voiced by Googy Gress — Dexter's older brother. He is a bully towards Dexter and a stereotypical jock who is also frequently tormented by Freakazoid. Chubbikins vocal effects provided by Frank Welker — The Douglas' morbidly obese cat. He jumped on Dexter's keyboard while chasing a butterfly, accidentally typing in the key sequence which activated the Pinnacle chip's flaw, turning Dexter into Freakazoid. Allies[ edit ] Sgt. Mike Cosgrove voiced by Ed Asner — A heavyset, gruff police sergeant with a heart of gold who is friends with Freakazoid and several other characters. By pointing at something and saying "Cut it out", he has the almost supernatural ability to get people to stop whatever they are doing on command, no matter what they may be doing at the time. Cosgrove also possesses the odd power of finding Freakazoid no matter where he is, and often interrupts his heroic endeavors to ask him to visit various entertainments, which Freakazoid always enthusiastically agrees to no matter what he is doing at the time. During this visit, Cosgrove inevitably reveals important information about the plot of the episode, resulting in Freakazoid leaving to foil the villain's scheme and Cosgrove being left to enjoy the attraction for himself. Additionally, at some point, Freakazoid entrusted Cosgrove with his secret identity, and was deeply upset when he accidentally revealed it to Steff and Professor Jones. Roddy MacStew voiced by Craig Ferguson — Freakazoid's mentor, and expositionist; an ill-tempered Scotsman who once worked for Guitierrez and was the first to discover the Pinnacle Chip's flaw. In "The Chip" detailing Freakazoid's origin story , he was trapped in the Internet after going into it to escape from Guitierrez's minions, but Guitierrez later forced him out and he resumed his mentor role. Steff voiced by Tracy Rowe — Freakazoid's perky and sweet yet cynical and sarcastic blonde girlfriend; her real name is Stephanie. She discovers Freakazoid's secret identity when Cosgrove accidentally points it out aloud in "Mission: Freakazoid". Professor Heiney voiced by Ed Gilbert — A scientist with a lab in the mountains who Freakazoid sometimes goes to for help. He researches and kills monsters, and is often attacked by them. Ingmar — Freakazoid's mute butler , who built and maintains the Freakalair. He quit in "Mission: Freakazoid" to become a rodeo clown and was replaced by Professor Jones. Zachary Smith from Lost in Space who was also portrayed by Harris. He is the replacement to Ingmar and is old friends with him. Jones does not get along with Cosgrove well and gets little respect from Freakazoid or anyone else. A running gag is that someone would ask if he was on that show with a kid and a robot which is a nod to Jonathan Harris' work on Lost in Space. Joe Leahy voiced by himself — The show's vocal narrator and announcer who sometimes gets more involved than the job usually requires. Freakazette — Only mentioned in the first episode for a brief verse during the "Freakazoid and Friends" theme song set to the tune of the Animaniacs theme. Foamy the Freakadog vocal effects provided by Frank Welker — A vicious, rabid dog which Freakazoid freed from the dogcatcher's van. Handman voiced by Paul Rugg — Freakazoid's brief "right hand man", who is just a painted face on his right hand and has great difficulty pronouncing Freakazoid's name correctly. He fell in love with and married Handgirl, a painted face on Freakazoid's left hand. He was hospitalized due to Milk Man bruising his clavicle and was subsequently released from Freakazoid's service. Leonard Maltin voiced by himself — He was kidnapped by Dr. Mystico during the episode "Island of Dr. Mystico", while Maltin was giving his opinion of the same episode. Freakazoid points out that Mystico's prisoners all have superpowers, and Maltin's is his knowledge of film. Mystico's "orangu-men". In the show, he speaks in a low, groggy, incomprehensible mumble. Norm Abram voiced by himself — A master carpenter who was kidnapped by the Lobe to make a wooden instrument to destroy Freakazoid, but got free and helped turn the tables against the Lobe and his allies. As a rule of thumb, don't exceed 5 minutes for each month of the puppy's age of acceptable exercise no more than twice a day. For instance, 15 minutes of exercise twice a day is ideal for a 3-month-old puppy, while 20 minutes twice a day is ideal for a 4-month-old puppy. As a general rule, you can start building up puppies to adult levels of exercise once they turn 9 months of age if they're not expected to grow over 25lbs. By a year they can be exercised as an adult as long as you properly build up their stamina. For medium and large breeds, you can begin to build them up to adult levels of exercise by 15 months and it's safe to exercise them as adults once they turn 18 months old. That means that it is imperative that you train your puppy early on how to walk on a leash by your side without pulling. Eliminate the possibility of a physical tug of war by relying on solid training instead. Remember, exercise is also great for keeping hip and elbow joints stabilized in German Shepherd Dogs. Many large breeds are known to suffer from hip and elbow problems later in life, but dysplasia seems to unfairly target the German Shepherd. Common health problems in German Shepherds German Shepherds are great dogs for the right owners, but they are at risk of certain conditions and illnesses common with the breed. Making sure the parents of your puppy have had the relevant health screening can reduce the chances of your puppy being affected by some of these upsetting conditions. This means that these types of dog have been bred over many years to look a certain way, but that these changes to the way they look have started to cause them health problems. Ideally, you should give your German Shepherd a brush or comb down a few times a week to keep their coat looking healthy, prevent matting and reduce the build-up of dead hair especially if they have a longer coat. If you give your dog the occasional treat or use treats for training, remember to take this into account and reduce their daily allowance. You should try to feed your dog at the same time every day to get them into a routine. Remember to leave at a gap after eating and before exercising. Beware unusually cheap puppies as they could come from a puppy farm. These breeders must do extra health tests and meet high standards. Set up costs Puppy vaccines — if you rescue a dog, reputable centres will often vaccinate them for you. Remember that ongoing booster vaccinations will be needed to continue their immunity. Neutering — you should usually arrange for your dog to be neutered at around six months old, though your vet will be able to advise you exactly when is best. Your puppy, at this tender age, does not need exercise; he needs activity. Indoor play consists of informal activities in which you educate your German Shepherd to avoid dangerous behavior while satisfying his need to be active. At this stage, it is more about mental activity games and basic training as opposed to physical activity. This nifty little toy is excellent for young pups. Here are some low-impact games that are appropriate for a German Shepherd puppy at 8 weeks of age: Puppy the Explorer Let your GSD explore the indoors while keeping a close eye on him. This also presents an excellent opportunity to teach him to follow you. You must do this organically. Wait for him to get in his explorer mode and start walking beside him. Remember not to exceed a period of 10 minutes of exercise in the second month and stop whenever your pup shows signs of being tired. The minute mark is the maximum duration, not the minimum. Initially, your puppy will get tired after a few minutes of walking around and exploring. In each subsequent week, he will be engaged for a few more minutes. You might need to use jazz hands to get his curiosity. Once your pup starts following your palm with his head, simply tap his nose and hug him. At this point, you might be tempted to start moving your arm out of his reach to prolong the game. Follow the Wiggling Toy This is the ideal transition exercise that I would start around the tenth week of indoor play. For this, I recommend the Pacific Pups Rope Toys Set from Amazon, not just because it is budget-friendly but because you can use toys of different sizes as your German Shepherd puppy continues to grow. Once you have him sitting close to you, introduce the rope toy and place it on the floor with your hand holding onto one end. Your job then is to make sure he takes at least four steps before he catches the rope toy. Again, this is a high-engagement, low-impact exercise that builds up the foundation for medium-impact activities later on. Jaw and Bodyweight Exercises Recommended age: 3 — 4 months Maximum duration: minutes per day, twice a day Risk factor: low Things to avoid: sprints Your German Shepherd puppy is now three months old; he is building on his training according to the standard puppy training methods, and you can start to interact with him more physically. Still, his growth plates remain open, and you still need to avoid exercises that strain the joints, especially ones located around long bones like limbs. At the same time, your German Shepherd has more energy and may want to exercise more than is good for him. As a result, your role has shifted. Here, instead of letting your puppy have the toy once he follows it and grabs hold of it, you play a small tug of war with him. If your GSD is used to getting the toy after following it, he may get too defensive when you tug it. I recommended the toy set for this reason precisely. The final thing worth remembering about this game is that you always lose! You place the rope toy on the ground and let your German Shepherd puppy follow it as you move it around. Once he grabs hold of it, you use your arm strength to keep it in place. Do not try to pull it too hard. It is also essential that you gradually move up the tug of war in time and position. Gradually you can move the tug toy slightly above the ground. Throughout this, make sure your dog is on a leash because you do not want to encourage grabbing and dashing. Ultimately, you have to let your puppy win! As soon as you release the toy, he gets to have it for a while. This is also the best stage to train him to release objects on command. Make sure your GSD is on a long leash before you start this activity. Associating running with playtime is risky. A long loose leash allows you to bring him back to you gently. Be prepared to spend a lot of time negotiating with your GSD. I suggest playing tug before this because it builds trust. When you roll the ball on the floor, your puppy will get it. You cannot expect him to bring the toy to you. You simply tug the leash gently and bring him close to you. Then, you hold the ball in place. You should not pull it away. That will only cause your German Shepherd to bite down on it harder. When you have it firmly in place, your dog will try to wrestle it free but will eventually let the ball go. You can encourage this by just talking to him in a reassuring tone and using training treats. As soon as he lets go of the ball, put it on the ground and roll it. As GSDs take pleasure in high-engagement activities, the activity itself becomes a reward. In my experience, this will always be a mixed bag. Some dogs never stop giving pushback at the retrieval stage, while others let go of the ball the moment you extend your arm toward it.

Goldador Size The Goldador is one of the few designer breeds with a fairly predictable size, as both parent breeds are large and similar in size and shape. The Goldador is usually 22 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 60 to 80 pounds. Goldador Personality The Goldador is affectionate and loyal, alert enough to make an excellent watchdog, but too friendly to be an effective guard dog. His intelligence and desire to please render him highly trainable, and he responds best to positive reinforcement techniques. Socialization helps ensure that your Goldador puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog. Goldador Health Goldadors are prone to certain health conditions. Some dogs show pain and lameness on one or both rear legs, but you may not notice any signs of discomfort in a dog with hip dysplasia. As the dog ages, arthritis can develop. Hip dysplasia is hereditary, but it can be worsened by environmental factors, such as rapid growth from a high-calorie diet or injuries incurred from jumping or falling on slick floors. Elbow Dysplasia is a heritable condition common to large-breed dogs. This can lead to painful lameness. Your vet may recommend surgery to correct the problem, or medication and weight loss to control the pain. Cataracts are an opacity on the lens of the eye that causes difficulty in seeing. The eye s of the dog will have a cloudy appearance. Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the body cannot regulate blood sugar levels. Blood sugar levels are regulated in part by insulin, which is produced in the pancreas. Glucose sugar is needed by the cells of the body to burn for energy; insulin is the key that lets the glucose into the cell. Without insulin, the glucose cannot enter the cell, so the cells are hungry even though there are high levels of glucose circulating in the blood. A diabetic dog will eat more food to try to compensate, but he will lose weight because food is not being used efficiently. Signs of diabetes are excessive urination and thirst, increased appetite, and weight loss. Diabetes can be controlled by diet and daily insulin injections. Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA : This is a degenerative eye disorder that eventually causes blindness from the loss of photoreceptors at the back of the eye. PRA is detectable years before the dog shows any signs of blindness. Fortunately, dogs can use their other senses to compensate for blindness, and a blind dog can live a full and happy life. Both parents should have health clearances from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals for hips, elbows, heart, and thyroid and from the Canine Eye Registry Foundation CERF certifying that the eyes are normal. Canine sports, like agility, obedience trials, and tracking, are also a great way to keep your dog physically active, mentally stimulated, and out of trouble. Weight management is one way of combating these joint problems. Health and Care All pedigree dog breeds are inbred to some extent. The measure of this is called the coefficient of inbreeding COI. The higher the COI, the greater the risks of health issues arising specifically from inbreeding. In a crossbreed such as the Goldador, the COI is usually much lower than it is in a purebred dog, and this is a good thing. To begin to look at the health and care of a Goldador we first need to consider the inherited health risks from both parent breeds Labrador and Golden Retriever. Labrador Health Labrador Retrievers are prone to a few hereditary health conditions and joint problems, as well as some health issues common to most dogs. To help minimize the likelihood of hereditary health issues in your new Goldador pup, check that your breeder has followed the recommended testing for the Labrador Retriever breed: Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis HNKP.

Origins of the Malshipoo The Maltese Shih Tzu Poodle hybrid, otherwise known as a Malshipoo, is a combination of three of the most loved dog breeds. This hybrid breed, which originated in the United States of America, is relatively new to the scene but has quickly become a very popular designer dog. This is a multi-generational breed meaning there are a few ways that this particular hybrid can be bred. It is also possible to have a puppy from a Malshipoo and any other parent breeds. These dogs are a small breed that can be quite different from each other in appearance depending on the combination of breeds that their parents are. Some pups may inherit the Poodle coat, some the Maltese and others the Shih Tzu coat. Most puppies, though, tend to fall somewhere in the middle of the Maltese Shih Tzu spectrum. With three different breeds in the mix, there is almost no limit to the colors of the coat of your Shih Poo Maltese mix. There is a wide range of shades thanks to the Poodle and Shih Tzu genes. In general, you can expect your pup to grow up to be around 10 inches on average and weigh around 10 pounds. The only certainty with their appearance is that a full-grown Maltese Shih Tzu Poodle will fall into the toy breed category of dogs. Curious about Shih Tzu mixes? They will become best friends with anyone that they may meet, which makes them amazing family pets. They will get along great with everyone in the house, even kids, but just make sure that your children are careful around them. There is little to no prey drive in your pup. The Maltese Shih Tzu Toy Poodle is actually very friendly in general, so they will be just fine with any other pets you may have. Although Malshipoos are friendly, they may not work well with large dogs, purely because they are small and fragile and may be sat on. The Maltese Shih Tzu x Toy Poodle Is Hypoallergenic These little doggos are commonly considered to be hypoallergenic because all three of their parents are hypoallergenic dogs. They also tend to have a non-shedding coat which adds to less pesky fur covering your furniture. Overall, most Malshipoos will have little to no impact on any allergies. It is a good idea, though, to visit the puppy beforehand to see how your allergies react to the puppy. However, you stand the risk of falling in love and taking one home anyway. But, because they are so small, they are prone to obesity, so make sure to not overfeed your little friend. In general, high-quality dog food that is specific to small breeds is a good idea. If possible, a food that has supplements of glucosamine and chondroitin is ideal to aid joint support, as these doggos are susceptible to hip dysplasia. A first-generation Malshipoo will be a highly focused and intelligent dog. However, unlike the Shih Tzu, this pup is a star when it comes to training. This little dog is quite perceptive, and they are eager to learn and comply with your commands. As with most breeds, socializing your pup early is recommended with children and other pets. Personality is Everything with Malshipoos Malshipoos are an immensely intelligent breed that is loyal and playful with their family. Even though they are pretty independent, they love to please and be around their owner with their friendly and playful nature. They are complex in that although they are independent, they love to both give and receive affection and are incredibly loving. So, if you are looking for a dog that will be by your side or curled up on your lap and keeps you company, then the Maltese Shih Tzu cross Poodle is the dog for you. The Malshipoo has Some Health Concerns As with all dog breeds, there are a few health concerns to keep an eye out for regarding your Malshipoo. Some minor conditions include; patellar luxation, hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia. More severe conditions that can make themselves known include; bloat, hip dysplasia and epilepsy. Generally, minor conditions are easily treatable and manageable, with the more serious ones requiring more intensive treatments. They are adaptable to most situations as long as their owner is with them. They are, however, not suited to large homes or farms because of their small size. If introduced to it from a young age, they will happily travel with you almost anywhere. Although adaptable, they are still house pets and will need your protection when you take them away from the safety of your apartment. The Shih Poo Maltese Mix Is Easy to Groom As we mentioned previously, your pup could have a range of different types of coats depending on which parent breed they take after. Their coats should be shaved at least three times a year, and you will need to use a quality brush a few times a week to keep their coat tangle and debris free. Make sure to clean their tear stains on a regular basis, as they are prone to these because of their Shih Tzu and Maltese parents.
