If she eats in any different way, she will likely regurgitate and may aspirate. Due to her condition, she underwent a gastroplexy with her spay. At the time, she had heartworm. Treatment was completed. Shes probably due for a check on it now. The Dallas shelter had her as 13, but everyone here thinks shes younger. Maybe .When she was surrendered, she was in heat. They spayed her at the shelter. Since Ive had her, shes been sweet to others other than the growls at repairmen. She likes to lick people. Now the special issues she has. Princess has separation anxiety. Shes gone from Prozac when I picked her up to trazadone. The trazadone helps a lot. Acepromazine was too strong, but the boarding place I use sometimes gives her half doses if needed. I can now leave her for several hours without anything happening to the house. She became smart to my tricks to get her into the crate at night, so I leave her out now. She really doesnt get along with other animals. I was told that when I got her, so Ive left my four cats in bedrooms since she arrived. Thats a huge reason why Id like to find her a forever home. Standard Poodles become seniors earlier, often by the 7 year old mark. Even if the vet does not make an official announcement, any dog that is at least 9 years old will be considered to be in his or her senior years. This does not mean that your Poodle will suddenly be old. Rather, it is a slow process and being declared a senior will mean that the dog should begin to have geriatric screenings twice per year to check for common health issues that occur with older dogs and that there should be some changes in regard to care. Ahead we will look at some of the common signs of aging and what to expect with your senior Poodle. Slowing Down One of the most noticeable changes will be a dog that slows down, in just about all aspects. The tricky thing is that nothing happens overnight. He loves playing in shallow water and is quickly learning to love the pool. He can't stand for me to be in it without him! He has a very calm temperament and trains easily. From the first day I had him he sat for treats without command and was totally housebroken within 2 weeks. He already retrieves the newspaper from the mailbox and drops it in my hand on command every morning. Pretty good, I think! He goes to Puppy Kindergarten every week to learn good manners and be socialized. He will become a certified therapy dog and enrich the lives of others, just as he has mine. I think the most important thing I've learned is the need to be "pack leader. Another thing I have put into practice is generating the kind of energy I want Cody to have. He will react to situations based on the vibes he receives from me , so I must be diligent in projecting the correct energy. I have never put this much work into training a dog before, but I already see the rewards of my efforts. Sometimes it seems sad that he is no longer that small little fur ball, but it is so much fun to see him grow and watch him develop. It is especially nice to see those razor puppy teeth falling out! I look forward to enjoying many more years of companionship with him! He is growing rapidly, and his paws are big, therefore the vet says he will be a huge dog! Logan is a pup who wants to play all day and sleep at night. Whenever he greets people, he gets excited and loves to get belly rubs. He is very good with the children, and doesn't like to sleep alone. He needs to be at your feet or by your side. Logan likes to jump around like a rabbit, especially when socializing with other dogs. He is very good at it. We have not mastered the art of retrieving yet, well.He likes to keep it.
