In the short 8 months that Luke got to spend with his beloved Jasper he brought him so many smiles and memories I will forever be thankful. Jasper helped Luke get through the hardest days of his life, he made him smile, laugh and the best cuddle partner there ever was. Sadly Luke was called home to heaven on July 21, .Luke was never alone with the help of Jasper, his parents Chad, Nikki and older brother Caleb. Jasper is of course still residing with Lukes parents and brother and I am still trying to figure out a way to dognapp him!! We visit them often and sweet Jasper is always the first to greet us at the door. The first photo is the day Luke was surprised with him. I just wanted to write a few lines and give you an update on our Stella Dalisha. She will be 17 weeks in two days and 20 lbs. We are just in love with her. She is exactly what our little family needed. She fit right in with her big brother and sister Titus and Margo. Her and Titus have become the best of friends and are inseparable. We all laugh at her silliness and her little facial expressions. She walks around on her hind legs begging to be picked up and carried. She loves to go for rides in the car and any squeaky toy she can find. She has one more round of puppy shots before I get her spayed. Everyone at the veterinary office thinks she is just a delight. Thank you for raising such wonderful bernedoodles. Thank you so much for our little Stella Mae. We love her so much! From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A Goldendoodle is a mixed-breed dog, a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Poodle hybrids have become increasingly popular and it is likely that the combination of Golden Retriever and Poodle has been duplicated by breeders in various countries at different times. History The first Goldendoodles were likely due to accidental breeding between Golden Retrievers and Poodles. The Goldendoodle is usually bred to be a family companion dog. Some are bred and selected for careers in service to humans as Guide Dogs, Therapy Dogs and other types of assistance dogs. Many people select a Goldendoodle because they love Golden Retrievers, but would prefer a dog that sheds less hair. Some have lost their Golden Retriever or Poodle to cancer or inherited disease, and hope that the hybrid cross will give their new pet a better chance of reducing those risks. Others may desire a dog that may not affect their allergies, although not all Goldendoodles will exhibit the low shedding coat type of the Standard Poodle. Cross-breed dogs do not exhibit standard characteristics, and while Goldendoodles may shed less than a Golden Retriever, the degree of shedding will vary from dog to dog. Grooming requirements are as varied as coat types, with the least shedding coat types requiring more regular grooming than the coat types that shed. There have been no studies to date verifying that any canine is completely hypoallergenic. Goldendoodles often are good swimmers, a characteristic of both parent breeds. Like any other cross-breed, the Goldendoodle varies from individual to individual, displaying differences in size, coat type, and color. A Goldendoodle s size is generally somewhere between that of the Poodle and the Golden Retriever parents, and the range includes standard, medium and miniature. Some standard-sized Goldendoodles have weighed over pounds. Upon reaching adulthood, a standard Goldendoodle will often weigh 45 pounds or more; a medium Goldendoodle will weigh between pounds, and a miniature Goldendoodle will weigh approximately 15 to 30 pounds. Goldendoodles have different coat types: wool, fleece, hair or a combination. The wool coat is more like a traditional poodle coat. A fleece coat can be either curly, wavy or straight, with hair more similar to that of a golden retriever. As a general rule, the more curly the Goldendoodle s coat, the less shedding there will be as the dog has more features of the poodle coat. Common colors are white, cream, apricot, gold, and red. Less common colors are black and silver. Rarer colors include brown, parti, and phantom. Goldendoodles are classified as various types depending on the breed of the Goldendoodle s parents. Temperament Similar to the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. Intelligent, affable, trainable, very human oriented, yet friendly toward other dogs. Moderately high energy dogs, much like their parent breeds. The Goldendoodle is not a purebred; rather, it is a specific type of mixed-breed dog or crossbreed. Some breeders prefer to restrict breeding to first generation F1 dogs i. Other breeders maintain that a Backcross F1B Goldendoodle i. Still other breeders are attempting to take this one step further and develop the Goldendoodle as a breed via selective breeding. Learn more This well-established breeder has been operating in Central Illinois since and is now one of the biggest Goldendoodle breeders in the state. They also breed Bernedoodles. All the puppies are well-socialized and undergo extensive health tests, so you know that your puppy will come with all the health clearances you expect. Unfortunately, this breeder has a slightly higher pricing structure than many other breeders, but they do boast plenty of positive testimonials and reviews. The best puppies undergo proper health testing, and both parent dogs have rigorous health checks before they are approved as breeding animals. What Influences Goldendoodle Prices? There are a number of factors that influence the price of Goldendoodle puppies in Illinois, including: The size of the dog, when fully grown Color Generation of the puppy Coat type and likely hypoallergenic qualities The most expensive puppies tend to be those with curly coats that look like Teddy Bears since those types are usually the lightest shedders. That makes these pups extremely popular with allergy sufferers, reflecting their price. Unusual coat colors are also more expensive, especially parti, red, and merle. Regarding health testing, both parent dogs should be screened for common genetic diseases common to both breeds to reduce the chances of the puppies inheriting those problems. Size Is Important Most dog owners want a small dog, so the smaller varieties are therefore the most popular and most expensive. Unfortunately, that trend has pushed up the price of these pups. The possibility of making a quick buck has tempted backyard breeders and puppy mills to churn out multiple Mini Goldendoodles as quickly as they can. Most of the breeding dogs used by these operations are not health-checked, which has adversely affected the breed. Nothing is Guaranteed! So, you could spend a fortune on a curly-coated blue puppy only to end up with a wavy-coated white adult! Of course, every puppy is loveable and will give you just as much pleasure no matter what their color or coat type. The puppies were supposed to be bred from a purebred Poodle father and a purebred Show Cocker spaniel. The lady chose a puppy and took her home. In fact, the puppy was much larger, a totally different color, and far more demanding when it came to exercise and training than the breed she wanted. So, that could be something you want to ask about if your puppy is not an F1 generation dog. But is the advertiser genuine, or is it a backyard breeder or puppy mill? Here are a few telltale red flags to watch out for. Multiple Breeds Most genuine breeders only offer puppies of one breed. Any duplications can be a sign of a puppy mill. Remote Locations Advertisements for puppies should contain a landline telephone number, not just a mobile. Puppy mills are often hidden away in remote locations, so always make sure that the telephone number matches the area where the puppies are being kept. Copy Cats Backyard breeding operations often use the same adverts, cutting and pasting details of their puppies and even using the same text for advertising other breeds. Goldendoodle pups should be eight weeks of age before they can receive their first shots. If the advertisement tells you that the puppies are less than eight weeks of age and have been vaccinated, the seller is most likely a backyard breeder. Other Red Flags Other red flags to be aware of include: Puppies that are very cheaply priced are usually from backyard breeders or puppy mills. These businesses make their money by producing as many puppies as possible, as quickly as possible, with the idea of making the most of whatever the current trend is. Often, puppy mills expect you to meet them somewhere shady, such as at a shopping mall car park or in a gas station. Puppy farms often use photos or even videos of puppies that are not even theirs to sell as a marketing tool on their website. Furthermore, before you can be put on the waiting list, you need to be interviewed and approved by the breeder. That should indicate that your puppy will be free from any hereditary genetic health conditions that typically affect the parent breeds. Ideally, your puppy should come with vaccination paperwork, as well as proof of flea and tick prevention treatment and deworming. Always ask the breeder if you can see the mom and puppies together. You also want to check out the father so that you can assess his temperament. That report includes many puppy mills and backyard breeders that have been closed down or taken through the courts for malpractice. If you decide to try out other ethical breeders from other states and want to avoid falling into the hands of these puppy mills, you may want to pick from our list of Goldendoodle breeders from nearby places. Check these out:. Goldendoodle via dreamcoatdoodles How To Find A Reputable Goldendoodle Breeder Selecting a breeder is a major decision that everyone who wants to bring a Goldendoodle into their home has to face. You want to choose one carefully as their breeding practices will have an impact on the temperament and health of your Goldendoodle puppy. Start by looking at online sources such as Google reviews, online forums, discussion groups and social media platforms to see what other people are saying about the breeder. Did they have a good experience buying from them? To take your research a bit further, you can ask Goldendoodle organizations and clubs based in your area about their opinion of the breeder you are considering to purchase from. Many Goldendoodle clubs also have their own lists of responsible breeders so they can give you additional recommendations for good Goldendoodle breeders. You may also consider visiting some dog shows and events as they are a good opportunity to meet breeders in person and see their Goldendoodles. You can also ask other dog owners that are showing their Goldendoodles for breeder recommendations. Finally, ask potential breeders for references and consider contacting these people to ask about their experience with the breeder. Reputable breeders always prioritize the well-being of their dogs and strive for positive reviews. You should inquire about temperament and health of the Goldendoodle these people purchased. Use this information to make an informed decision. All reputable Goldendoodle breeders conduct them on their breeding dogs — whether they are breeding from purebred Golden Retrievers for F1 Goldendoodles and Poodles or from Goldendoodles for later generations like F2 Goldendoodles. A stipulates the health testing requirements for Goldendoodles and if the breeder is registered with G. A, you know that the breeding dogs have undergone full health testing. A heart clearance O. Ask to see documentation of these clearances before purchasing from a Goldendoodle breeder. All responsible breeders should be willing to provide any health documentation. They should also be happy to answer any questions you have about their breeding program. However, if you have the opportunity to check out the facilities you should do it. Check that the kennels are clean, that they dogs and puppies have access to fresh water and also that there is not a build up of feces or urine. Comfortable living conditions: The breeder should keep their Goldendoodles, Golden Retrievers and Poodles in comfortable living conditions. They should have large, comfortable kennels or dog beds and also have a decent amount of space to exercise and socialize with other dogs. Healthy breeding dogs and puppies: If you get the opportunity to meet the parents of the Goldendoodle litter you are interested in, make sure they are well-tempered and also healthy. Sometimes the mother will be quite protective of her puppies so she may show signs of aggression. If you are purchasing a puppy online and getting it delivered, ask if the breeder would be happy to video call you or send videos of their Goldendoodle puppies and breeding dogs to you. Ask About Socialization Goldendoodle breeders should begin the socialization process before their puppies are sold. The puppies should be exposed to a wide variety of sounds, experiences, people and places so they can adjust to their new homes and adult life. Nevertheless, they should start exposing them to sounds like household appliances, provide mental stimulation with toys and games and also encourage playtime and interactions with their littermates and family. The most common ones are: Lack of registration: If a Goldendoodle breeder cannot provide registration papers or other relevant documentation, it may be a sign that they are not operating a reputable breeding program. Overbreeding: Think twice about purchasing from a Goldendoodle breeder who always has puppies available or offers an excessive amount of dog breeds. This may suggest that the breeder is overly focused on profit instead of the health and wellbeing of their puppies. Lack of health checks: A reputable Goldendoodle breeder will conduct health clearances on their breeding dogs to ensure they are free of genetic health issues that could be passed on. If a breeder cannot provide documentation of these health checks, it may be a sign that they are not prioritizing health. Further Reading.
I am familiar with common and uncommon health problems they may face so when my boyfriend and I decided we were ready to adopt our own english puppy finding a reputable breeder that prioritizes health was most important to us. Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. Puppies available Please, contact me if you have questions about our current and future litters. Our breeding prospects were screened very carefully before we made a decision to add them to our breeding program. We buy puppies from best breeders in Europe, and raise them in our home. I've always had a special love for boxers, it was love at first sight with Baxter. He peed on my shoe while looking up at me, it was all over, I knew he was the one, he had melted my heart. Baxter was very ill since he was 6 weeks old when I brought him home from the breeders house. Each time we took Baxter in for treatments; we were informed of new information on his medical condition that took a turn. The x-rays showed he had a heart condition on top of him already being sick. Baxter was taken to an cardiologist Blue Pearl where further tests were done. Echocardiogram, Ultrasound of his heart, Doppler. The Diagnosis was gloom, the left side of his heart was enlarged with a hole that may never close. Baxter's health continued getting worse, he needed to be taken to multiple vets and specialty hospitals for his health conditions. Where extensive testing he was diagnosed with pancreatitis, an autoimmune disorder, his kidney and liver started to be affected at this time. I was so devastated I was going to lose Baxter. Baxter had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks. The best hospital I will always recommend them to anyone. They saved his life. He was neutered at the age 14 months old. He is very special to our hearts and he is the reason I started Majestic DiafianoAngel Boxers in his honor to stop careless heartless breeders that produce un-healthy puppies for their own personal greed. They look past who all suffers when producing un-healthy puppies for their own personal greed to make money off of families. Lifespan Sociability The Weimshepherd is a fairly new breed of dog, and we recommend that you find a reputable breeder with a history of breeding healthy dogs before buying. They are energetic and powerful animals, and this fact should be taken into careful consideration before bringing a puppy home. They will require a great deal of regular exercise with firm and consistent training and a large backyard to run around in. With the parent breeds of this dog both being highly intelligent, you can be sure of the same in a Weimshepherd. This superior intellect can lead to mischievous behavior too! One curious fact about Weimaraner puppies is that they are often born with faint tiger stripes, and Weimshepherd puppies may inherit this strange trait too. Above all else, they are friendly, obedient, and loyal animals that will become a willing and loving protector in your home. Weimshepherds have a keen sense of smell. Weimaraners are closely related to bloodhounds and English Pointers, so they have the same keen sense of smell of their close relatives. Being bred as hunting and sniffing dogs has developed this powerful nose, and these dogs are well known for their amazing ability to track down scents. While German Shepherds may not be the first dog that comes to mind when it comes to a great sense of smell, they have above-average scenting ability. They are well known as police and military dogs, and their keen nose is one of the many reasons that they are so well suited to this job. Their excellent nose also makes them highly revered dogs for bomb detection and narcotics work. With both parent breed having reputations for powerful scenting abilities, the Weimaraner is no slouch in this department either! WW1 brought German Shepherds to the west. Interestingly, up until the late s, German Shepherds were known primarily as Alsatians. They are smart! German Shepherds are ranked as the third most intelligent breed of dog in the world. They made it into the second tier, coming in at number .The even and easy-going temperament of the German Shepherd serves to calm the high-energy nature of the Weimaraner, but this is still a dog that has massive amounts of excess energy to burn off. This makes them an ideal choice for active owners who enjoy outdoor activities with their dogs. They will make great jogging and hiking companions and will have no trouble at all keeping up. Consequently, they will become upset at not getting their daily exercise routine and can act up if left alone at home too long. This energetic nature can make them difficult to control, and they will need a firm hand and confident owner to keep their large, boisterous natures in check. This makes them well-suited to experienced owners, as first-time dog owners many have some trouble controlling them. That said, they are not difficult to train, and their high level of intellect makes them able to swiftly learn commands. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Without this, they can be highly boisterous and may hurt small children with their over-enthusiasm. They are gentle giants, though, and are not known to be aggressive. They are a loving and loyal breed that is highly protective of their owners and as such, make great guard dogs. These dogs can get attached to their owners and do not like being left alone for long periods. They need a great deal of time and dedication and can cause havoc when left to their own devices. They are large, powerful dogs, and their only fault is usually an overabundance of enthusiasm. That said, they may have a strong prey drive due to their hunting history, so smaller family dogs and pets may be liable to be viewed as a meal. Of course, if they have grown up with other pets and are trained properly, this is rarely a problem. We can say that this breed of dog presents the high level of physical activity of a Weimaraner while its calm personality was inherited from the German Shepherd. This canine not only stands out for its physical attractiveness but also for being versatile when performing different activities and jobs. In addition, they are very trainable, so they are excellent pets for any family. In fact, training is essential for this type of mixed-breed since that way, it will be able to control its instincts. The Weimshepherd is not recommended for beginner dog owners, but with good previous training, it is possible for them to get along well together. Weimaraner German Shepherd Mix: Physical Characteristics Both breeds used for this mix are considered medium-large dogs. The average size of a Weimaraner, regardless of its gender, varies between 56 cm and 69 cm, while its weight between 23 kg and 32 kg. A German Shepherd tends to be between 55 cm and 67 cm tall and between 34 kg and 44 kg in weight. A Weimshepherd can present an average size of both breeds. Generally, these dogs can measure between 58 cm and 64 cm and have a weight that varies between 27 kg and 35 kg. Its final size will depend on the dominant characteristics of its parents as well as the diet, care and lifestyle provided by its owners. This canine body is robust with a slightly short and thick neck, deep chest, long snout, dark nose, and long floppy ears. In addition, it has muscular limbs that allow it to run and jump without becoming unsteady. The eyes of this mixed breed can be brown, amber, or hazel. The coat of a Weimshepherd is short, shiny and elegant and is usually black in color, although it can also be gray. Weimaraner German Shepherd Mix: Personality and Behavior The combination of the active and energetic Weimaraner and the skilled and hard-working German Shepherd result in a dog with extraordinary qualities. The Weimshepherd is very physically active and needs a lot of exercises every day. They are very intelligent and like to be mentally stimulated through different agility exercises. That is why they are very trainable and teachable dogs. These dogs can be quite hyperactive due to their predecessors as a hunting dog and also to their high physical level. For that reason, they can be excellent pets but are not recommended for families with children or small pets. It should be noted that this mixed breed has a high protective instinct, so they will always try to take care of their human family members and warn them of possible danger. That is why they are considered to be excellent watchdogs. The Weimshepherd loves being together with its loved ones. They are very affectionate dogs, so it is not advisable to leave them alone for a long time as they can become anxious, which would be negative for their health. As the owner of such a dog, it is essential to give it the attention and love it deserves so that it is happy all the time. That is why its coat only needs to be brushed once a week to keep it shiny. As for the hygiene of these canines, it is advisable to bathe them only when necessary. It will be enough once or twice each month unless it has gotten dirty. What is important to take into account is the cleaning of its ears. They tend to get very dirty due to their shape, so it is advisable to clean them once a week as otherwise, the dog could have health problems. Tooth brushing should also be a regular practice in the life of the Weimshepherd. These animals love to run, jump, play, and do any physical activity. Due to their high level of physical activity, they need a complete and varied exercise routine that allows them to stay healthy and fit all the time. The diet of this canine must be balanced and based on many proteins that can provide the necessary energy to perform its daily exercises. Family Dog Expert Author Hi there! My passion for dogs drives me to share my knowledge and expertise, helping families build strong, loving bonds with their four-legged friends. Welcome to Sirdoggie A blog crafted with love for all dog lovers and their families! As there is no need to register designer dogs with breed societies or Kennel Clubs, it can be difficult to accurately track their history. Thankfully, a lot is known about both their parents: The German Shepherd and the Weimaraner. The German Shepherd German Shepherds started off life as farmyard dogs who would both herd and guard livestock. They were prized for their dependability, as well as their independence and many farmers would leave them to their own devices on the farm. Unfortunately, in the creation of this new breed, there was a great deal of inbreeding of closely related dogs who were not screened for inherited diseases and today the German Shepherd is renowned for being prone to several health conditions, such as hip dysplasia, atopic dermatitis and several cancers. Despite their many health issues, these dogs have contributed to society in many ways, including as police dogs, rescue dogs and guard dogs. The Weimaraner Weimaraners are best known for their sleek, grey coats and solemn faces. They were traditionally used as hunting dogs and their height was a great attribute when pursuing larger animals, such as deer. They were a favourite of the upper classes within Germany who appreciated their regal appearance. Interestingly, the first of the breed who were exported abroad were sterilised as the Germans did not wish for them to be bred outside of their homeland. This practice stopped in around the mid 20th century and these dogs can now be found all over the world, where they are mainly kept as companion animals. Appearance The Weimshepherd has a unique face that is framed by long and pendulous ears that flop about sweetly as they run. Their striking eyes may be green, amber or brown and are usually well spaced apart and ever watchful. They have long, thick necks and deep chests which lead to sturdy bodies. Their long limbs are well-muscled and give them an assertive and fast-paced gait. Their tail is relatively long and thick and should not be docked. While hybrid dogs tend to have more variation in size than their pedigree counterparts, a typical Weimshepherd will measure from 58cm to 64cm and will weigh in at between 27kg and 35kg. While one may expect Weimshepherds to be either black and tan or light grey, most are a dark grey or black. Their fur is usually short and most have a healthy, glossy coat. They are full on and are not recommended for the first-time owner or for those who are unable to spend the majority of their time at home. As the Weimshepherd has a relatively high prey drive and can be rambunctious, it is generally believed that they are not a suitable pet for those with young children or small pets, such as cats or rabbits. Ideally, they would be homed with adults only. With their master, they will typically form a very strong bond and will become protective of them when outside of the home. Most Weimshepherds are suspicious towards strangers and protective over their territory so make superb watch dogs, as well as guard dogs. They rarely lack confidence and can become openly hostile if they feel threatened. Trainability The Weimshepherd is a dog made for training as they are quick learners, versatile and get a kick out of pleasing their master. It is important that their training starts when they are young and that owners are fair but consistent. They thrive on routine and best results are achieved when all of the people in the home follow the same training programme. Hip Dysplasia This orthopaedic condition is one of the most significant health challenges facing the breed and one that breeders and owners need to take seriously if we are to ensure the Weimshepherd is to enjoy a healthy future. Thankfully, hip dysplasia is easy to screen for as it simply entails taking a number of x-rays either under a deep sedation or a general anaesthetic. Screening programmes are the easiest way to help prevent future generations from being born with dysplastic hips. DM Degenerative Myelopathy DM is a progressive disease of older Weimshepherds that results in a wobbly walk and a lack of control in the hind limbs due to spinal cord degeneration. Tragically, there is no cure or treatment so all that we can do is keep affected dogs comfortable for as long as possible. Signs come on within minutes to hours and dogs need to be treated the same day if they are to survive. Atopic Dermatitis Atopy is a maddening skin condition that causes chronic itching and discomfort. It can mimic a number of other skin complaints including sarcoptic mange and flea allergy dermatitis. Exercise and Activity Levels The Weimshepherd makes the perfect companion for the fitness fanatic as they will out jog even the sportiest of humans. Not only do they love to jog and run, they are also keen swimmers. Most will do well with one to two hours of exercise each day. A big and boisterous breed, the Weimshepherd should be provided with a fenced-in garden in which it can run off lead to its heart content. Beware though, if under-stimulated, this cheeky canine will soon be digging up the lawn and chewing on the fence! Grooming Luckily, the fur of the Weimshepherd is very low maintenance and owners need only brush it once a week for it to retain its attractive sheen. As their ears are large and droopy, they should be cleaned out about once a week with ear cleaner. This is because they are poorly ventilated and become quickly moist and humid when there is a lot of wax and debris inside. User reviews There are no user reviews for this listing. The Weimaraner is a striking dog, which was first bred by nobles of the German Court of Weimar for the purpose of hunting game, and later to be trained as a retriever. Weimaraners are already gorgeous — if we should mix in the characteristics of some different breeds of dogs, the results are some fine-looking canines, with superb intelligence to match! Weimer fans beware though — these pretty pooches pack a challenge for owners. While they can be great dogs for experienced owners, most greenhorns will be better off with an easier breed for their first pet. The Boweimar loves and thrives on buckets full of attention and does not mind letting you know if he should be feeling neglected. Keep your buddy happy with plenty of play and exercise. Their sociable nature makes them the ideal choice for households with small children and other species of pets. They love any attention that their owners are willing to bestow on them and adore energetic playtime outdoors. They have a friendly and reliable temperament and love spending their time among family members. If left on their own for extended periods they might develop separation anxiety, and they do not like being restricted to small spaces, so a big garden and play area is a big consideration before bringing this beasty home. His life goal is to please his owner. Since the Pointeraner is quite a large dog, he does not like being confined to a yard or kennel and would much rather be considered a house dog, spending his time with his head on your feet. They are sporty dogs who love and need plenty of exercise. If they are left on their own for long periods they tend to relieve their boredom by digging up flower beds or even trying to find an escape route under a fence. Make sure you entertain your Weimapeake as much as possible with free runs in the park, puzzle toys, and plenty of play time. They are amazing family pets who are loyal, affectionate, protective, and thrive in the company of their fellow housemates. Thankfully this pup does not shed excessively and requires only occasional grooming. She has a huge heart with an enduring personality and is always ready for play and games with you. She loves your affection, cuddles, and kisses, and might become destructive if she feels neglected. She makes the ideal pet for homeowners with limited space or for the older person looking for a constant companion. Their astute intelligence can be targeted with training and these animals make excellent companion and service dogs. They are obedient animals, who show great affection towards their family members, making them especially good in homes with kids. This pup thrives on stimulation and will quickly become restless if left to his own devices for very long. Training is essential for this animal to tame his natural rowdy instincts, and he is not recommended for first-time dog owners who might find themselves out of their depth with this lively pup. Parents of small children should also keep a close eye on the animal as he might become too boisterous around the little ones. The resultant cross is a noble, strapping animal, with an abundance of energy that needs to be worked off on a regular basis. The natural tenacious nature of the Ridgeback makes this pup an independent pet who will constantly test his boundaries and pecking order in his family hierarchy. He requires a consistent, firm hand and obedience training is non-negotiable. He is extremely territorial which makes him a perfect guard dog. Chow Chows can be quite aggressive and protective and are not typically recommended for first-time dog owners or households with small children. While Chow Chow mixes can vary in temperament depending on the other parent breed, the prickly Chow demeanor is something to be considerate of. The Dalmaraner has a high energy level and is reasonably intelligent, making him easy to train. He is extremely loyal, and can show aggressive tendencies to strangers which makes a good choice for a guard-dog! He does have a sensitive side though, so as an owner you should always handle him with patience and a kind voice. Strong and big boned, this furry friend is gentle, outgoing, alert, and friendly. High energy levels combined with an extraordinary work ethic, alongside shrewd brain power makes this dog the ideal house pet. He is also known to be a little head-strong, requiring a firm and consistent handler — the same holds true for Vizsla mixes too! They are kind, mellow, and gentle, plus they love spending their time in the company of their family. They are loyal and extremely protective of those they love and will protect their nearest and dearest at any cost. They get along famously with the littlest in the household, from the human baby to the fluffiest bunny! Without training they can become willful and manipulative, so make sure you enroll you both in obedience school. Make sure to also check out our articles on:. The Grey Ghost: Meet the Weimaraner Weimaraners are wonderful and fearless companions who are great with kids. These dogs are incredibly athletic and need intense daily exercise to be happy. The Weimaraner has an average lifespan of years if properly taken care of. Your dog will likely do well in both cold and warm climates, depending on which parent breed he takes after. The more Husky in him, the more he prefers the cold; the more Weimaraner in him, the more he prefers warmth. Beagiraner Beagle and the Weimaraner mix This will likely be a medium-to-large size dog and is a cross between the Beagle and the Weimaraner. Your dog will live anywhere from years. Beagles and Weimaraners are active, intelligent dogs, so expect your mix to be the same. He will need regular exercise and may take off if he catches a good scent. Proper socialization is a must for these relatively reactive breeds. Expose your Beagiraner to kids, other dogs, cats, and crowded places so he is comfortable with just about anything. This pup is both loyal and intelligent and does well in any type of home environment, so long as it gets sufficient exercise. Beware common health issues such as patellar luxation, bloat, and entropion. Occasional eye and knee tests, as well as x-rays, can go a long way. This mixed breed is the best of the small and large dog worlds for those prepared to give it regular exercise and attention. Their short coat will be some interesting combination of Weimaraner gray and Boxer white, brindle, or fawn. These dogs are large, tall, and slender and have coats that are easy to maintain. These energetic pups love to please their people and make great family pets. Keep in mind that both parent breeds have a high prey drive, so take caution when your mix is around smaller animals. Given their high exercise needs, think seriously before getting a Boweimar. Without proper activity for both mind and body, these energetic dogs can get into trouble and even start barking excessively. Both dogs were bred to hunt and are therefore athletic dogs who need mental and physical stimulation as often as you can provide it. A tired dog is a well-behaved one! Chow Chows tend to be aggressive and protective and are not recommended for first-time dog owners. These also do not make good dogs for families with small children. Proper training results in a fabulous family member who would protect you with his life. Both parent breeds are active hunters who enjoy having a job to do. This crossbreed will be eager to please and therefore relatively easy to train. Common health problems include eye issues and hip dysplasia. If you are able to find one for this rare mix, purchasing your puppy from a reputable breeder helps eliminate congenital health problems. This dog will be athletic and enjoys being given work. It can easily get into trouble if not properly exercised. Dalmatians can be slightly challenging to train, so you should begin working with this crossbreed as soon as you can. Dalmaraners will likely be sensitive dogs that respond well to positive reinforcement. As with all dogs, early socialization is key to ensure your mixed breed grows up into a well-adjusted family dog. Both parent breeds are incredibly intelligent and loyal, but they also need lots of intense exercises each day. Common health concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia. Great Danes get inches tall at the shoulder and weigh pounds depending on sex. Weimaraners are big dogs, too, so be prepared for a mixed breed that eats you out of the house and home! Given their massive size, Great Danes only live years on average, so your dog may not live as long as a Weim. Both parent breeds are extremely energetic and thrive with regular, intense daily exercise. Great Danes are incredibly sweet with their family, but they are wary of strangers and make great watchdogs. Labmaraner Labrador Retriever and Weimaraner mix Source: bailey. These are loyal, intelligent companion dogs that can suffer from severe separation anxiety. Although you can get silver Labs, those are purebred Labs and are not mixed with Weims. A Labmaraner is distinct from a silver Lab. Both produce striking dogs with unique coloring. These dogs need regular training and a handler with breed experience, so they are not the best for novice owners. Both Pit Bulls and Weims are working dogs who love a job to do. Given adequate exercise, this mix makes a great companion. Proper socialization is important to ensure you raise a balanced, open-minded pup. These are incredibly active dogs who do best with hours of exercise per day. If your mix takes after his German Shorthaired Pointer parent, he will likely love water. This cross will be easygoing and a breeze to train, and it should be good with other pets and children. These are true family companions who hate being left alone, so be sure to really tire your dog out before leaving, and consider crate training. Ridgemaraner Rhodesian Ridgeback and Weimaraner mix Source: kinga. This dog will carry itself well and be quite the sight. Start training him young, emphasizing recall so he returns to you when called. Both parent breeds suffer from hip and elbow dysplasia, so be on the lookout for pain, swelling, or lameness in these regions. This crossbreed is energetic and needs regular exercise, but they also make great couch buddies. These are well-rounded dogs who do well with kids, other dogs, and even strangers. Vizmaraners have striking coats that come in a wide range of colors, from browns to grays. They tend to live between years and weigh lbs. This cross boasts webbed feet and a heavy coat, making them great swimmers. These dogs are incredibly active and get bored easily, so stimulating mental and physical exercise is a must. This breed is loyal and protective, making it a great family companion. They have a wide variety of health concerns, from hip dysplasia and hypothyroidism to bloat or cataracts. Regular checkups to the vet are crucial. Dachshunds are curious, spunky, and friendly little pups bred to hunt small game. This mix will be active, friendly, intelligent, and possibly a tad stubborn. Both parent breeds are active, so make sure you take your Weimaraner Dachshund mix on regular outings. Grooming depends on which parent breed your dog takes after. Weims are easy to keep, but Dachshunds with longer hair need more extensive grooming. He will need consistent brushing to keep his coat healthy and free of matts. This breed will have an expressive face and can be a bit shy around new people. This dog will be big, loyal, and fearless. It will also be incredibly active, needing lots of open space and regular exercise. This mix will make a great guard dog and is eager to please. He will be loyal to the family and can do well with other dogs if given proper socialization. This will be a large dog who is highly intelligent. Regular mental and physical exercise will serve him well. These dogs make great companions and service dogs, and they will watch over you carefully. This dog typically inherits the wrinkles associated with the Shar Pei. This breed loves being around people and can be difficult, so it is not suited for first-time dog owners. Health concerns include patellar luxation, elbow dysplasia, and bloat. This hybrid is large and athletic, and it needs mental and physical exercise quite frequently. This cross is not suited for first-time dog owners, as this dog will be incredibly powerful and needs extensive socialization. This dog will be independent and reserved with strangers, so early socialization is vital. The coat of this cross will likely be longer and need regular upkeep. Health issues include hip dysplasia and patellar luxation. The one you choose depends on your lifestyle and preferences, so carefully consider the crossbreed that will best suit you. The vast majority of these mixes need intense, regular exercise, so this is one of the more important considerations. With a background in animal science, dog training, and behavior consulting, her hands-on experience and extensive knowledge make her a trusted source for dog owners. When not writing or leading the K9 Web content team, Cess can be found volunteering at local shelters and participating in dog-related events. Leave a Comment. Both of these dogs can be friendly but personalities differ, so you never know. The German Shepherd is known for being intelligent, curious, and alert. All dogs need proper socialization and that will be a big factor in how they interact with others. What does this mixed breed look and act like? Is it more like the German Shepherd Dog or the Weimaraner? Those are the questions we will try and answer below. Continue reading below to see pictures, videos, and learn more about the beautiful German Shepherd Dog Weimaraner Mix. Von Stephanitz had in his mind what a good working dog should be and a few generations of breeding fulfilled what Hektor envisioned. Horand von Grafrath is known to be the first German Shepherd Dog. Horand von Grafrath was bred to other similar styled dogs that were believed to have the same traits as what Von Stephanitz was looking for. His most successful offspring was Hektor von Schwaben. Von Stephanitz is widely credited for being the founder of this incredible breed. Von Stephanitz had intended for his breed to work as herding dogs, however, as Germany became more and more industrialized he saw the need to make it working dog. He convinced the German government to use the breed. The breed initially became popular in World War 1. Many American and allied servicemen grew attached to the breed during the war and brought them back to the states after the war was over. The Allied troops fell in love with the breed but not with the fact that it had German roots. It became common for police departments and those looking for true working dogs to import their dogs from Germany because the American dogs had such bad health problems. Weimaraner History The Weimaraner is also known as the Raner. It is a relatively large dog that began in the early 19th century. Like most dog breeds, it was originally bred for hunting. Early on they were favored by royalty. They were used to hunt large game such as boar, bear and deer. Only later were they used for hunting small animals like fowl, rabbits and foxes. The Weimaraner is an all-purpose gun dog. He was an avid hunter.

Kerry was great to deal with and very knowledgeable. Yes there were a lot of dogs at house, yes the house had the odor you would expect if you have 20 dogs all the time. I do know we got scheduled for a litter, there were no surprises, and Cisco is incredibly happy and healthy. K Smith a year ago We have the most well behaved sweet doodle! We highly recommend! Nikki Flores Top notch breeder. You'll love working with them Sam A 2 years ago Best dog Breeder around by far! Our puppy Sassy that we bought from Cove Angels is so great with kids, other pets and is extremely smart. The entire process of buying the dog was professional and easy. I highly recommend them to everyone. Stephanie Dos Santos Da Silva 2 years ago Such a pleasure to work with, it was unfortunate my son had allergies, we miss our little pup! Lisa O'Brien 2 years ago We visited this place about a year ago. Lots and lots of red flags. She had way too many puppies of different ages and different breeds. The smell was insanely bad. Pretty sure this is a very expensive puppy mill. Liam Barry 2 years ago 5 stars - my dog from Cove Angels is the sweetest, most well-behaved dog ever. Dogs need love and exercise. Some come with health issues. Kelley Kelly 2 years ago I am so impressed with the responsiveness and quality of dog you receive from cove angle! Nicole is amazing at accommodating all needs through this pandemic and Kerry and Michael are amazing. They truly loves all their pups. Our boy was a Emma and hobbie puppy that was due October 9th. I had dreams of a Santa pup and they bent over backwards to accommodate. We did boot camp the next day and was worth every second. Our little boy is 11 weeks and just about potty trained! Nice work cove angel!! Jacqueline DeLucia 2 years ago We purchased a Goldendoodle 10 years ago. We loved the breeder and how well she handle the dogs. Lots of love in the home and the dogs were very happy. I loved we got to go visit and see how things were done. We miss her dearly. We notify Nicole we are interested in purchasing another dog. Helen McDonald 2 years ago Clearly care about their pups. Spent over an hour with us providing information regarding training, grooming, etc. All upon pick up. Terrific people. Great dog. Ours is 6 now; beautiful well tempered guy! Christopher Brown In our 2nd week with our new Buddy, and he's awesome. They produce awesome puppies! Nicole Littlefield 3 years ago I am not here to shame you're business, rather try to inform people about breeders. It may be easiest to find a breeder with the type of dog you want, but there are thousands of dogs across the country waiting for a forever home. Nick Tessitore Great place. Food is excellent. Kristin Martin 3 years ago Kerry knows what she's doing and her puppies know what they're doing!!!! Would definitely recommend and already have to family. Can't wait to buy a puppy. Kerry was so knowledgeable and correct with everything for training. Impressed from the very beginning!!! Michael Hogan 4 years ago I can not imagine a better experience with our dog Harley. I grew up with a dog years ago and this is my first dog in double digit years, and my first dog with kids. My friend has an amazing Goldendoodle from Cove Angels but we also did our own research. Kerry, the owner, was amazing. There were a few litters at the time and she was so patient and so helpful picking THE one. She is also wonderful with kids. To say she loves the dogs is an understatement, I honestly don't think she would send the dog home with someone she felt wasn't a fit. We went to a few breeders and Cove Angels was the best in our opinion. Real and good people who run the business out of a nice home. The coaching she gave us with our first dog was beyond helpful including a few tips I never would have come up with in my puppy book. We love our dog, he is so gentle, happy and healthy. We are thinking about a second "doodle" already. Would give an extra star if it was an option. Karen Parmenter 5 years ago We have a 10 year old golden doodle that we got from Oklahoma and she is great. We contacted the same breeder to get another and unfortunately the breeder died. We went here and picked out a doodle. It seemed to shed some but I was told that they all do as a puppy. Well it has been 2 years now, puppy hood is over and he has not "grown out of it". I need to vacuum at least every other day. I know that getting a non shedder is not a guarantee but I think experienced breeders can tell. I feel we were deceived. Chris Kinney Breeders who care about the dogs they breed. Great people. She is a world of knowledge and a consumate top notch breeder. Those who complain about odor need to remember dogs are bred there, duh. As far a the genetic eye issue it is not a proven geneticbdefect defect. Just an accident of nature. She is the best and I can't say enough about her. Wendy Hendrickson 6 years ago My husband and I drove three hours for a scheduled appt, made several days beforehand. When we arrived there was noone on the premises. We had called 30 minutes beforehand to say ,to a man that answered ,that we ran into traffic but would be there shortly. After waiting and knocking and no one answering the door, I called the number again. I explained we had an appt and had driven threehours in traffic to get there and noone was there. The gentleman rudely dismissed me and said I was not in his appt book. He explained he was kerry's father and was in Rhode Island and had not taken any such message. I said i talked with a guy who had repeated all my information. He said he knew "nothing about it and it must've been Michael". He kept giving me an attitude and was extremely demeaning and rude. I again repeated how we had just driven three hours through boston traffic to be at our scheduled appt and I found his attitude very troubling. .Jane McFarland 7 years ago I am severely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and irresponsibility this breeder has shown. Kerry Angell, of Cove Angels, is breeding Goldendoodles that have a genetic disorder and she does not alert buyers that their puppy may suffer from a congenital deformity. I took him to two Veterinarians who diagnosed a problem called Nictatating Membrane Cartilage. When I notified Kerry about the eye deformity and that it is likely to be passed on to other puppies through her breeding business, she denied that my puppy came from Cove Angels. I was shocked - I have the paperwork and the canceled check to prove that he was purchased from one of her litters. Please be forewarned - Kerry of Cove Angels is knowingly passing on a genetic disorder through her breeding business and charging top dollar for puppies who initially appear to be healthy, but may suffer from inherited physical problems as they become older. She runs a dishonest and unhealthy practice. I ignored all the red flags because we got caught up in the excitement of owning one of the adorable puppies. The first red flag was the odor. When I entered Kerry's house, I was met with a foul odor, but trying to remain non-judgmental, I assumed it was just the way a house full of dogs smells. I ignored it. However, when we were viewing the puppies, they were peeing and pooping all over the carpeted family room, and Kerry didn't care. My throat actually burned after visiting with the dogs. The second red flag was the sheer number of puppies available to us. Kerry's house is average size, but there were puppies of all ages. In one visit we saw several adult dogs running in the yard, and several litters. There were 4 day-old puppies, 4 week-old puppies, 9 week-old puppies, 12 week-old puppies, 4 month-old puppies and this was just a sampling. I was never invited downstairs, but I shudder to think how many dogs were kept in that basement. The third red flag was waving the day we picked up our puppy. At first Kerry brought us the wrong puppy, and then she did it again. She had no record of the puppy we had painstakingly selected. When she was filling out the contract, she didn't know who the mother of our puppy was. Finally, she scribbled some name down, but I'm still not certain it is the actual mother of our puppy. I was never allowed to see the mother, only the father. We were very clear that we wanted a Golden Doodle. At this point my 2 children had fallen in love with Luna, and we didn't want to give her up, so we ignored the misrepresentation. The final red flag was when we took Luna out to potty before she got in the car for the hour long ride to our house. We were told that she had never been outside once since she was born 9 weeks ago. It was too cold. Well, yes it was cold and it was still cold when we brought Luna home, but we somehow managed to take her out 20 times a day despite the New England weather. Luna acted like a deer in headlights when she stepped on snow for the first time. She never did potty before the car ride because she obviously had no idea that dogs pee outside. Sadly, our problems only worsened once we got Luna home. She had a nasty case of parasites which took 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear up. She was peeing and pooping in her crate every day for the first 2 weeks. Luna certainly wasn't proving to be the house trained dog we were promised. The only reason I discovered the UTI was because she was constantly peeing all over the house and I called my vet because I was afraid I was giving her too much water. The vet ordered a round of tests because she said what we were experiencing with Luna was not normal. Now Luna is almost 7 months old, and despite the private and group training classes, and our herculean efforts to train her, Luna still isn't house broken. She pees in the house every day, even thought she is watched vigilantly, taken out constantly and fed on a schedule. We have read every piece of literature on the house breaking and asked every expert, and we can't get the problem under control. I have come to the realization, that we bought a very expensive puppy mill dog. The instinct to relieve herself outside was destroyed because of the inhumane conditions that Luna lived in for 9 weeks. We are at our wits end trying to house break our Cove Angel puppy. The last straw was when we called Kerry and sent her a letter alerting her to the health issues Luna has experienced, and we never heard back. All they care about is having fun. If you ever seen two puppies play then you already know how rough, mean and aggressive those games can look while being super adorable at the same time. One pup will chase the other one growling, one will be barking his little head off in his very non-threatening voice while the other will chase his siblings around biting him and tugging him by his ears. At their very core they still have those predatory instincts that come out to the surface. However the instincts to chase down prey, growl in the face of danger and attack their enemies is deeply ingrained in him. Just like little kids like to play games where they pretend to be adults, your little guy is doing exactly the same thing. I bet when your little guy was even younger, you would have had no problem with him biting you with his little teeth because you could barely feel it. However as he got older, those little teeth got bigger, the biting started to hurt more and outrunning your Pug puppy took a bit more effort. Puppies teach each other when to stop biting If left amongst his peers, your puppy would have outgrown his behavior as he got older at the very least he would have learned to take it easy with the aggression. His siblings and his parents would be the ones teaching him when enough is enough. The pup will either yelp out or just stop playing with the aggressive one. At first the biter might not even realize why his pal suddenly changed his mind, but when more of his siblings stop playing with him after he nips too hard he will realize that something is up. He will have to learn that if he wants to keep playing games with his buddies, he will have to play much nicer. All you have to do is show him that if he wants to continue playing with you, he has to keep his sharp teeth off you and your clothes. Otherwise he will have to play all by himself, and we all know that there is no fun in that. Puppies biting their owners while playing have been a problem ever since people kept dogs as housepets. Stop the games whenever your puppy bites you — Just simply stop everything, turn away from him and go about your business while ignoring him. As soon as he realizes that using his teeth during playtime will lose your attention, he will find other ways to keep you interested. Yelp or shout to alarm him whenever things get too rough — You know how I talked about puppies yelping when things get too rough? The only problem though is that you have to teach him those games first. Your little guy only knows how to play with dogs, so teach him games that he can play with humans. If you apply all three of the tips listed above, you will be on the right path to finally stopping your puppies biting. If everyone around him changes how they play games with him, he will have no choice but to change along with them. Watch out for aggressive behavior Sometimes puppies bite for other reasons than just playing. The suggestions above apply mostly to just play biting. Although most of the time when a puppy bites he is doing it playfully, there are exceptions to everything. Other reasons for your puppy to bite you might include: Feeling threatened — if your Pug feels threatened by you or someone around him after growling or barking at the person, he will have no choice but to bite them. Possessive behavior — Some dogs are very possessive and will do anything to defend whatever they feel like is theirs. A lot can go wrong if you approach a dog that has shown warning signs for you to back off. Related Articles. Ruby Photo courtesy of owner Alf Dixon Ruby Photo courtesy of owner Alf Dixon Irritation - If a favorite toy is taken away, if a puppy is too possessive of his "belongings", if a pup has not yet learned his place in the family "pack" and other triggers can cause a young Pug to bite or nip. Before we dive into training for this, let us make note that the above is a nipping problem and not an actual biting issue. Biting is reserved for when a dog aggressively bites, there is a locking of the jaw. There is skin contact and often broken skin. It is a dominant, aggressive action that warrants much different training. The Pug dog is an even tempered, good natured dog breed and very rarely will a Pug actually bite as opposed to nipping. Training for This All dogs find comfort and security in knowing that they are living in a pack. Today's modern dog's pack is his human family. By taking proper care of a Pug , an owner shows him that it is the human who is the leader Alpha. Proper feeding giving the sit command first and training for commands are the 2 main ways that a dog truly understands who is in charge. When a dog of any age is ignored by his leader, this sends a very strong message. Canines do not take this lightly and any action that seemingly lead to the brief social isolation is quickly put into the "do not do" category. This does not mean that an owner should ignore the behavior. What an owner should do, is to immediately take action by purposefully ignoring the puppy to such as extent that he worries that his action damaged his place in the pack.If both owner and dog are sitting down when the bite occurs, the owner should raise. If both were on the floor, the owner should stand or sit on the sofa. The idea is to physically separate from the pup and maintain an authoritative physical position. The next step is to completely ignore the Pug, this means zero talking and no eye contact. It will be a brief banishing in which the puppy is essentially invisible. Everyone in the house should follow this training no matter who was the "victim" of the nipping. And it is important that everyone is on the same page, since it does little good for a biting puppy to be ignored by one of his humans, but able to move on to the next to play and to possibly nip again. This training should last just about 10 minutes, but it should extend even longer if the pup has gone about his own business and is not focused on his owners. One key element the 10 minutes must be a time in which the Pug is very aware that he is no longer receiving attention. Once that time is up, allow interaction, and any time that the Pug nips or bite, immediately begin again. It is important to be very consistent with this. When done each and every time, training can be successful in as little as 2 weeks. Is Teething an Issue? Your Pug may be biting due to teething. While most owners do refer to this as biting, this is actually a gnawing in an attempt to sooth the pain and discomfort that a pup will experience when his teeth are growing in and gums are very sensitive and sore. At this stage in life, a Pug will chew on just about anything that he can get his mouth on. He or she will not care if it is your fingers, your new shoes or electrical cords! There are several ways to help your Pug dog get through this time without damaging your home and belongings. One element that separates this from the above biting issues is that a puppy should be given an option. When chewing on an un-approved object, that object should be taken away and replaced with a chew toy. If the dog seems to be having a really hard time, ice cubes plain or flavored can offer great relief. In addition, toys chilled in the freezer can take the edge off. Always praise good chewing habits while discouraging bad ones. And if the Pug pup nips at hands or feet, immediately follow the training previously explained for biting. In regard to any household items that you absolutely do not need on floor level: remove them or place them high enough so that your dog cannot reach them. Be sure to cover electrical wires with plastic shielding. Allowing a your Pug dog to have an ice cube will be very helpful. Placing dog toys in the freezer for an hour or two, and then offering them will help. All rights reserved. Puppies tend to be very overprotective of food, which they learned when in the litter as they had to fight for nutrition. Unfortunately, it will be behavior that can extend to occur over their food bowl. If your Pug is showing food aggression, then you need to train the puppy to learn you are in charge and can pick their bowl up and put it back down at any time — with no aggression from the dog. What you do is put a bowl in front of your Pug then quickly remove it again. Dog trainers tell you to do the loud squeal when the Pug puppy bites you then quickly place your thumb in their mouth, pressing it underneath their tongue. You can then put a finger under the chin. But when Pugs are puppies, biting and nipping is just part and parcel of growing up. Pups explore their new world with their mouths. And a few nips here and there is just part of the experience. Here are some of the most common reasons why your Pug puppy might be biting. They are afraid If your pup is afraid, startled, or stressed for any reason they might react by nipping or biting in defense. When your Pug is still very young, this is not a worrying act of aggression. Nipping is a perfectly normal reflex reaction when your pup is feeling anxious or vulnerable. They are asserting dominance Sometimes pups bite as a way to show dominance over you. Even though Pug puppies are tiny, they still have a big ego. They are exploring Pups explore their new surroundings with their mouths and noses. Mouthing behavior is part and parcel of being a pup. When your Pug is still a puppy, they will not understand that a nip or a bite is a bad thing. That way the nipping phase will be just that. A phase. They are teething Last but not least, just like human babies, Pug pups go through a teething stage. And, just like human babies, your pup will want to chew on everything in sight. What they are actually doing is trying to soothe the pain that they are feeling during the teething process. To help them out, offer your pup a teething toy to chew on or some cold ice cubes to soothe those sore gums. Canines use their mouths for a lot of activities and functions. But not all oral behavior constitutes biting. Biting, nipping, and mouthing are all slightly different. Biting describes when a dog clamps down hard on an object or person. Nipping is not an act of aggression but a play response, or a reaction to a moment of fear or anxiety. Mouthing is a natural explorative behavior — especially for puppies during the teething phase. When Should I Be Worried? As your pooch gets older, play biting can turn into real biting. But biting behavior is still not to be encouraged. DO squeal and yelp This might sound a bit odd, but letting out a squeal or yelp when your pup nips or bites is a bit like speaking puppy language. When puppies play together in the litter this is how they tell their brothers and sisters to back off. So we can do this too. DO use chew toys As your pup starts to mature, stop letting their mouth on your hands and introduce a chew toy instead. Plus you can incorporate the chew into tons of fun and games around the house and garden. Around this time we want to be teaching our pups to feel relaxed when we place our hands in or around their mouth area — without biting. Encourage your pup to stop biting by diverting their attention with a delicious treat and plenty of praise. Some pups will develop food aggression. They may become super protective of their dinner and nip or bite when anybody tries to come near. Only let your Pug eat when the biting behavior ceases. If your pup is a persistent biter try placing your thumb under their tongue and finger under the chin and hold for ten seconds. DO assert your dominance You are in charge. Not your Pug. Pugs can be stubborn and prone to jealousy. Be assertive and reward good behavior with any kind of positive reinforcement — love, cuddles, and treats are usually best. Best Collars for Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers 6 min read If you are considering a Labrador or a Golden Retriever pup, then the best collars for these breeds are flat leather collars that are .A 1 inch wide leather collar would suit a long haired golden retriever, while a 1. In comparison, they do seem to be very much alike. They grow to a similar weight and size, they both love water and strive to please their owners so grooming and bath time will be easy with either dog and they both shed year-round. Not only will the amount of hair on the Golden be a greater aggravation to sweep up, but the hair does also play a big part in picking a collar that will suit your dog's needs. However, the hair is only one difference to consider when determining the collar of choice for your best friend. The second thing to consider is the temperament of the dog. Both dogs are playful, but the Labrador seems to be more apt to play than the Golden, who has a medium playful attitude and needs longer rest periods. The material and how the collar is made will come into play when outdoors in the dog park. Labradors will need a wider and stronger leather collar than the Golden, who can get away with a narrower leather collar that won't matte their long hair. And as they grow in weight and height, you could determine how thick their neck would grow and the size of collar they would need. Since they both love water, our line of waterproof leather collars are the perfect compliment to your Goldie or Lab. When considering what size to get, we recommend a collar at 8 weeks in which the puppy would probably be able to wear with little to no adjustment until the 16th week. Then, going to the next collar up in size at roughly 32 weeks, which would become their full-grown collar, and should continue to fit them as they grow to be around 75 - lbs. Healthy Growth As much as we pet owners say we will not feed our dog's too many treats or table scraps and stick to a diet plan recommended by the Veterinarian, some of us will look into those sweet puppy dog eyes and give in to our temptation of just one cookie. This is where the danger of obesity also plays a part in keeping the right collar that will fit on our dog. When it comes to the fit of any collar, keep in mind that when you adjust your dog's collar, put one or two fingers in between your dog's neck and the collar. If your fingers have enough room, then your dog can breathe well, and the fit is perfect. You will need it for training and taking them for walks. A 1 Inch wide leather collar is the best choice for a Golden Retriever who has long hair, as the narrower collar will prevent matting. The added width will help disperse the pressure around their neck as they pull on the leash. In order to avoid confusion with the Newfoundland Dog, he used to be called the Small Water Dog, since the Lab was most commonly used to retrieve the cork floats of fishing nets and swimming them ashore so that fishermen can pull in the fish-filled nets. The Labrador Retriever was often used to retrieve game and fish, pull small fishing boats through icy water, and help fisherman in swimming tasks. As the years went by, the breed population decreased and died out in Newfoundland in large part because of a heavy dog tax. It was in England where the breed earned its reputation as an extraordinary retriever of upland game, and the breed continues to grow in population. The popularity of the Labrador Retriever has been growing steadily to become the most popular breed in America by , and remains so today. Although they where employed as retrieving dogs in the past, today, he is held in high regard as a guide dog, sniffer dog detecting drugs and explosives, and a popular companion. Appearance The Labrador Retriever is easily recognizable. He is a moderate dog, not extreme in any way, with a stocky build. He is square or slightly longer then tall, of fairly large bone and substance. He stands at 21 to .His coat is short and hard to the touch. It is drip-dry and is entirely weatherproof to protect him from icy waters. A black coat was the most popular known colour for the Labrador, but yellow became more widely seen as of 50 years ago. The yellow coat ranges from light cream to red fox. Today, there is quite a trend for chocolate, also known as liver. He has a broad head and strong medium-sized jaw, which allows him to carry the largest game birds, such as Canadian geese. His heavy set and strong legs enable him to swim and run powerfully. He has a relatively short, thick-coated tail, which is known as an otter-tail. He has kind and intelligent hazel-brown, medium-size eyes which express a gentle temperament. He has a broad backskull with a moderate stop. His forelegs are well-boned, and straight from shoulder down to the ground. His paws are round and rather compact. His chest has good depth and width with well-sprung ribs. The Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever are regularly cross-bred to utilize their combined skills. When the Labrador is well trained, he is obedient, amiable, and tolerates well with the acts of children, other dogs and others pets. He does not seem to take offence at any insult. He is good tempered and very agile. He is a calm house dog, playful yard dog, and intense field dog. He is eager to please, enjoys learning, and excels in obedience. Lab Upkeep If you are the type of person who enjoys activities and spends most of your days in the outdoors, then the Labrador is for you. This breed needs daily exercise, preferably in the form of retrieving and swimming. If you have a swimming pool, you should either fence your Lab out, or be prepared to share the pool with him. Although, he can live in town surroundings, he should not be deprived of regular, long walks. He can consume any quantity of food; however, sensible feeding is important to prevent this breed from carrying too much weight. Retriever Health Issues Unfortunately, many Labradors do not live up to the image they carry. Living up to 10 to 13 years old, some suffer from hereditary cataracts, hip and elbow arthritis and even wayward temperaments. Major health concerns for this breed include: Canine Hip Dysplasia CHD : An abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its most severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. Elbow Dysplasia: A condition involving multiple developmental abnormalities of the elbow joint, specifically the growth of cartilage or the structures surrounding it. Obesity: A medically relevant nutritional disease which is defined by an excess amount of body fat. Pattelar Luxation: Occurs when the dogs kneecap is dislocated from its normal position in the groove of the thigh bone. Before any of these major and common health issues develop, Lab owners should always get their dog tested to see if they have issues with their hips, elbows, eyes, and knees. We all know that the Labrador Retriever is one of the most reliable, smartest and friendliest dogs in the world. Despite all of these great qualities, there are still things about them that need to be taken care of. If you enjoy long walks, a long swim in the lake, a game of fetch or perhaps a day of hunting, the Lab is your perfect dog and will remain your loyal companion for years to come. Recent Articles. A lot of dogs might find the sound of the metal scary or off-putting, so consider a martingale that uses non-chain material for the loop, especially if your Golden has some sound sensitivity. Many pet parents opt to use a dog harness or halter to walk their golden, as it can offer more control or increased comfort for the dog. So, does your pup still need a collar? In short, yes. Choose a dog collar of an appropriate size and weight. The exact choice will depend on your pup. Pick a regular flat or rolled dog collar. We absolutely would not recommend using any sort of correctional collars, such as a choke chain or prong collar. Select your fastening of choice. Most collars have either snap or buckle fastenings. That said, for a puppy, snaps can be better as they make it quicker and easier to get the collar on and off. Make sure you get a well-fitting collar. Frequently Asked Questions Should your golden retriever have a flat or rolled collar? When it comes to regular snap or buckle collars — which we believe are the best, safest and most humane options for your canine companion — there are two main types: flat and rolled. So, which is best for a golden? Some people claim that rolled collars are the best option for long-coated dogs because flat collars can rub long fur and cause breakage. The more collar in contact with the coat, the higher the chance for fur damage. However, other people use flat collars on long-coated dogs and report no rubbing away or breaking of fur whatsoever. In which case, choose whichever variety you prefer. As a large breed, goldens need fairly wide collars. This is for reasons of both strength and comfort. When choosing a flat collar, pick one that is at least 1 inch wide, but probably no more than 1. Again, a width of between 1 and 1. What size collar is best for a golden retriever puppy? Bear this in mind when doing the measuring so that you get a good fit. Is a collar or harness better for a golden retriever? Both are great for your dog. But as I told you earlier, a harness does more. You could use it when going for walks, hikes, or jogs with your dog and also for training. Collars, on the other hand, are mostly great for walks and very convenient to use when your dog is already trained. Are shock collars good for golden retrievers? Shock collars can help to suppress unwanted behaviors, but not all of them can do this in the right way. If you are eager to learn more about shock collars, how safe they are for your dog, and which options to buy, speak to your vet. Which is the best collar for a dog that pulls? For a dog that pulls, the best collar is the one you can fasten more securely around their body without hurting them. Make sure it is also made of materials that are tough yet soft and comfortable enough not to irritate or injure your pup whenever they try to yank the leash from your grip. Any from the above list of 10 best dog collars for golden retrievers would do nicely, and there are also more good options out there. The only downside is that this collar is a little expensive in comparison with others of its kind, but a lot of people are willing to spend that little extra knowing this product is better for the environment than other options. What are the differences between flat collars and rolled collars? Should I use a harness or a Martingale? While some people love the idea of getting a collar for their new puppy, others worry that their dog might not like it. The main reason most pet parents will use a collar is to make sure their pet always has an identification tag with contact information attached to them in case they ever get lost. While you may argue that a microchip will solve this problem, having an ID tag will mean that your pooch can get returned to you much sooner since anyone can read the information and give you a call. Another reason to have a collar is to attach a leash to it. There are other options, of course—some people opt to use a harness instead. Flat Collar Flat collars are the most common types of collars available. As their name suggests, the flat collar is a flat, wide strip that closes with a clasp. Some flat collars are padded for extra comfort, and usually, they come with a D-ring for attaching an ID tag. Flat collars are best for well-behaved dogs that do not attempt to pull away. If your dog pulls hard, the pressure can cause them to choke, so most flat collars are designed to break away under strain. For active dogs like Golden Retrievers, flat collars are fine for everyday use, but we recommend using something more suitable when going for a walk. These collars are popular with breeds that have a long coat, such as the Golden Retrievers—however, be aware that the rolled collar can pose even more of a choking hazard than the flat collar when using a leash. The leash is then attached to a clip on the harness. A harness is not suitable for aggressive or hyperactive breeds, but for obedient Goldies who are so often eager to please, harnesses are an excellent option. According to the American Kennel Club, Goldies are the fourth most trainable dogs breeds out there. Martingale Collar Martingale collars are designed to help you control your dog without the risk of choking them. As your dog slows down, the collar loosens around its neck. For Golden puppies, consider using a harness instead. For walking, a good quality Martingale, or a harness may be best. Some pet parents like to use rolled collars for their Goldies because the design is even less likely to catch long fur compared to flat collars. That said, rolled collars are no good for attaching a leash, as they can lead to trachea damage if your dog pulls. It looks great for everyday use and for attaching an identification tag, while it also provides a safe way to attach a leash, all at a fair price. For a premium option, the handcrafted Logical Leather Padded Dog Collar is water resistant, made from full-grain leather, and the colors compliment Goldies excellently. Remember, you can use more than one collar interchangeably if you wanted to. In fact, we recommend owning at least two collars: one for everyday use and one for walking—or if you use a harness for walking, then a second collar with ID tags for backup, in case your everyday collar and ID tag gets lost or broken. Either way, we hope our reviews have helped you figure out which collar is best for your Golden Retriever! With a background in gardening and photography, and interests including hiking and amateur astronomy, her busy schedule means she enjoys the finer aspects of life, such as drinking coffee and snuggling with her cat on a crisp morning while blazing a trail across the keyboard.
golden retriever beagle mix puppies for adoption - Is the Boxer Bulldog mix the best pet for your family? What is a Boxer Bulldog? But, as dog fighting ceased over the years, the American Bulldog and the Boxer developed into calm and affectionate family pets. The Boxer Bulldog mix has none of the aggression its parent breeds used to have. Bulldog Boxer crosses make excellent watch dogs as they are naturally alert, swift, and protective of their masters. This American Bulldog Boxer breed is a high-energy, curious dog that needs to always have something to do. Otherwise, they will get destructive when bored. Bulldog Boxer mixes are intelligent and athletic, and they love to play and be around their human family. What does a Boxer Bulldog mix look like? The Bulldog Boxer mix is a large dog , with a muscular body, a wide chest, and a medium-sized tail. As we mentioned above a full grown Bulloxer weighs around 70 to 90 pounds 31 to 40 kg and is about 22 to 27 inches 56 to 69 cm in height. American Bulldog crossbreeds tend to share the same stocky body. Check out the American Bulldog Pitbull Mix , for instance. Many Boxer Bulldog mixes have the signature Boxer look we all love, with a square-shaped jaw, a short muzzle, and short floppy ears. How difficult is it to take care of a Bulloxer? Caring for this crossbreed is easy. Checking and cleaning its ears once a week will also keep ear infections at bay. How do I train a Boxer Bulldog mix? Early socialization and obedience training are necessary for Boxer Bulldog puppies to grow up as happy and well-behaved dogs. Socialization prevents them from becoming overprotective and aggressive towards other people and pets. Here are a few things you need to remember when training these pups: They are intelligent and eager to please their owners. Clicker training works best for this breed. How long do Boxer Bulldogs live? Like we mentioned on the fist paragraph as well, the average Boxer Bulldog mix lifespan is 10 to 15 years. An adult Bulldog Boxer needs 3 to 4 cups of good-quality dry dog food, divided into three evenly spaced meals daily. This pooch need to be active as they can be overweight. Bulloxers need 30 to 45 minutes a day of play to maintain a good weight and maintain their muscular build. Their short muzzles and short hair make Boxer Bulldog mixes uncomfortable in cold weather, and they may also suffer from skin diseases and joint problems. How much is a Boxer Bulldog mix? Given the price of Boxer Bulldog puppies, it is important to find a good breeder should you intend to buy your own pup. If finding Boxer Bulldog breeders proves to be challenge, you may check these breeders of American Bulldogs and Boxers:. Although a playful pup sounds endearing, consider how many games of fetch or tag you want to play each day, and whether you have kids or other dogs who can stand in as playmates for the dog. Click here for more information on this characteristic Valley Bulldog Highlights The Valley Bulldog is a mixed breed dog. They are not purebreds like their Boxer or English Bulldog parents. The main colors of Valley Bulldogs are; red, tan, brindle, white, and fawn. Rarely solid, their coats typically have a blend of two or more colors. Luckily, their coats are very easy to groom. Valley Bulldogs love kids and are great playmates for active older children. They may be too rambunctious for toddlers, however, and can accidentally knock them down in play. Always supervise play time. Valley Bulldog History The Valley Bulldog breed may have existed naturally over the years, but designer breeders started intentionally mixing Boxer and English Bulldogs in the mid s, in Nova Scotia, Canada. Breeders wanted to mix the two parent breeds to minimize health problems and create an active, friendly companion dog. They continued to create Valley Bulldogs as demand for the mixed breed pups climbed. Even though the Valley Bulldog breed got its start as a designer breed, some have ended up in shelters or in the care of rescue groups. Consider adoption if you decide this is the breed for you. Check your local shelters, look up Valley Bulldog rescues, or check with breed-specific Boxer and English Bulldog rescues, as they sometimes take in mixed breed dogs and find homes for them. That said, as a mix between Boxer and English Bulldog parents, you can expect Valley Bulldogs to be on the medium to large side. Most weigh in at 50 to pounds and range in height from twelve to 25 inches at the shoulder. Temperament is affected by a number of factors, including heredity, training, and socialization. Puppies with nice temperaments are curious and playful, willing to approach people and be held by them. Socialization helps ensure that your Valley Bulldog puppy grows up to be a well-rounded, outgoing, friendly dog and stays that way. Enrolling them in a puppy kindergarten class is a great start. Inviting visitors over regularly and taking your dog to busy parks, stores that allow dogs, and on leisurely strolls to meet neighbors will also help them polish their social skills. While most are generally healthy, some may be prone to a few health issues, which is why it is important to maintain good care and regular veterinary checkups. Chopped carrots or celery make great little healthy treats. Also, you should make sure your dog is clean between the folds of their skin to keep them from getting infections. Your vet can help you develop a care routine that will keep your dog healthy. Valley Bulls are prone to weight gain, and they have high energy levels. Make sure your dog gets at least one good half-hour- to hour-long walk per day with a few good, active play sessions and shorter walks mixed in. Check their ears for debris and pests daily and clean them as recommended by your vet. They should not be clicking against the floor. Your groomer can help with this. You should brush their teeth daily, as small breeds are prone to dental issues. Valley Bulldog Feeding An ideal Valley Bulldog diet should be formulated for an active, medium-sized breed. They have a tendency to gain weight if they are overfed, so you should stick to a regular feeding schedule and not leave food out during the day. Limit their amount of treats, as well. The main colors of Valley Bulldogs are ; red, tan, brindle, white, and fawn. A good brushing per week will probably do. They may self groom and are considered a pretty clean dog. As you groom, check for sores, rashes, or signs of infection such as redness, tenderness, or inflammation on the skin, in the ears, nose, mouth, and eyes, and on the feet. Ears should smell good, without too much wax or gunk inside, and eyes should be clear, with no redness or discharge. Your careful weekly exam will help you spot potential health problems early. Always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog should ever be left unsupervised with a child. Learn more about this pup by reading about their parent breeds, the Boxer and English Bulldog. Valley Bulldog Rescue Groups It may be hard to find a breed-specific rescue for Valley Bulldogs because they are a mixed breed. However, you may want to try Boxer or English Bulldog breed-specific rescues, as they often care for mixes, as well. Here are some rescues you can try:. American Bullboxer Description The Bulloxer is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Boxer and the American Bulldog. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in any of the breeds in the hybrid. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. She loves to camp, hike, swim and sleep! At 6 months old he was about 65 lbs. Great personality and very smart. Too smart if you ask me. His father is a registered American Bulldog who weighs about lbs. I think he can do it! I know he makes me laugh. His dad is a lb. American Bulldog and his mom is a lb. He loves to play catch and he runs faster than any other dog at the dog park. He is very loving and has a sweet demeanor but definitely has a lot of energy and is a bit hard-headed. He is a wonderful addition to our family. He's still the fastest dog I've ever seen, and has grown to have the best personality. He watches television with us and plays with everyone friendly to him any chance he can get. All he wants out of life is the thrill of playing in the shallow waters and cuddles. All small breeds.Japanese Chin, Cockapoo and a teacup Shih Tzu. And I have 2 small kids. She is around 55 pounds or more in this picture. We just love Roxy. She is a sweetheart. She currently weighs 65 pounds. If all Bulloxers are like Roxy I don't think I would get any other type of dog again. She is so loving and kind to all of us. Its chest is broad and thick, and the head is in a square form. This hybrid has a short muzzle with a slight underbite. It can come in different colors or a combination of colors. These dogs are very energetic, playful, and loving but may also be stubborn at times. It is very loyal to and protective of its owner and will do anything to protect them from harm. You will have to show it a lot of love and affection for you to get the same from it. Although they are generally very friendly with others, you will have to train them consistently and socialize them early. If not properly socialized, they may become aggressive to those they think are threats. They enjoy playing around with their owners so it would be best to bring them out to do exercises from time to time. It needs to spend its energy on physical activities, or else they can become destructive at home. Never let them get bored or leave them all alone in your house because you might have to clean up a lot of destroyed objects when you get back. They are also prone to suffer from separation anxiety. Bulloxers are quick learners, but when your Bulloxer becomes stubborn, you will have to establish your dominance on it to make it listen to your commands. It is very strong-willed, so you have to be very confident when you are dealing with it in training. One thing you have to know about is that this hybrid often produces sounds and smell from multiple orifices on their body. Bulldog Combined with Boxer Puppies for Sale If you are sure that a Bulldog Boxer Mix is the right dog for you, then you have to find a reliable and reputable breeder. Nowadays, it is tough to find a breeder that you can fully trust. It is highly essential to get your puppy from a legitimate breeder since the way they were treated and raised to that point may have a significant impact on its personality, behavior, and as well as its health. There are thousands of breeders all over the globe, but only a few thousands of these are trustworthy. In selecting a dog breeder, you have to assess and analyze a lot of factors. You should visit their facility and see the space in which the dogs are kept in and check out what kind of food they are feeding the dogs. Try to assess the care and attention the breeders put into both the parent dogs and the puppies. You make sure that the breeders are knowledgeable about the hybrid, Boxer combined with Bulldog. There is no strict schedule that you have to follow. You only need to bathe your Bulldog Boxer when they are dirty. It is also not good to shower them often since it will affect the natural oils they have on their skin. Make sure to wipe its ears from time to time. Bulldog Combined with Boxer Health Problems Overall, a Bulloxer is quite a healthy crossbreed for its size and is not likely to suffer from many health issues. However, they are prone to obesity, which is why you have to regulate their food intake. A few Boxer Bulldog dogs have been known to develop different kinds of cancer, but it is rare for this to happen. Although they are not inclined to contracting many diseases, it is still essential to bring your pet to the vet frequently to have a general check-up. Here is a list of common canine ailments that they may suffer from throughout their lives: Hip Dysplasia — This is a common occurrence in dogs of this size. Because they are heavy, their joints have a tougher job in supporting their bodies. This condition will bring your pet a lot of pain, which is why you can opt for your Bulloxer to get surgery to correct it. Bloat — The cause of this disease is unknown. As soon as your Bulloxer exhibits symptoms such as shortness of breath, bring him to the vet immediately. Epilepsy — This term is used to describe multiple episodes of seizures. The most common cause of seizure in a dog is idiopathic epilepsy, which is usually a genetical predisposition, but there is no exact cause known. Your pet may not feel pain during an epileptic episode but will feel confused and may panic. Try to observe your dog, and if it has more than one seizure per month, then you have to get treatment from a veterinarian. Boxer Bulldog Mix Food Requirements The Boxer Bulldog is a larger than average dog, and it will require three to four cups of dry dog food daily. Try to avoid feeding your pet one big meal and instead divide the amount of dog food into two separate meals because Bulloxers are prone to bloating. Make sure that you give it dog food of high quality and one that contains all the nutrients it will need in a day. Remember to check all the ingredients in the dog food before purchasing them. Choose the product that has nutritional additives such as vitamins and minerals to keep your pet healthy. Since this crossbreed is likely to suffer from joint issues and pain, try to find food that has chondroitin and glucosamine. Do not buy products that contain unknown meat-meals or byproducts and those that contain various unnecessary additives like dyes. These dyes usually trigger food allergies of the dogs. It also contains different kinds of healthy fruits and vegetables such as pear, spinach, green, carrots, and blueberries. Nulo Adult Salmon and Peas This dog food has deboned salmon, turkey meal, and chicken meal as its protein source. This product leaves out any ingredient that may trigger allergies. It also does not have any grains, corn, wheat gluten, soy, artificial additives, colors, or flavors. It provides a balanced diet for all dogs. Also, it does not contain any soy or fillers, such as grain and gluten. You would not have to worry about your dog missing any nutrition because this dog food has all the nutritious ingredients that a Bulldog Boxer needs. Bulldog Boxer Mix Exercise Requirements Because this hybrid is very playful and enthusiastic, they will become very energetic inside the house, which is why you need to allow it to spend its energy outside through physical activities such as walking, jogging, or running. It loves stimulating its brain, so try to have them go through obstacles set up in your backyard from time to time. Your Bulloxer will need at least minutes of exercise per day. Be careful not to overwork and exhaust your pet because it might have breathing problems. You can utilize different types of toys and kinds of activities. Tennis balls are one of the toys that Bulloxers enjoy playing with the most. They love running around and fetching these balls, but after a couple of times of throwing, your arm will get very worn out. This device allows you to play with your pet companion for an extended period without wearing out your muscles. Boxer combined with Bulldog dogs have no problems with playing by themselves. Although they want you to participate in their playtime, they are still happy getting preoccupied with a toy. This toy is perfect for when you are suddenly too busy to play with your furry friend physically. It is a very sturdy ball and also glows in the dark, which makes it very attractive to your Bulloxer. This product is shaped like a football and is perfect for a game of fetch. It has deep ridges, which make it easy for dogs to pick up and carry. Your pet may play with this toy in the pool since it floats in water. Also, it comes in bright colors, thus, increasing its visibility. Boxer Combined with Bulldog Training Your Boxer Bulldog Mix dog is generally quick to train since it is smart and a fast learner, but they may, at times, be stubborn. Bulloxers have an independent trait, so they will do whatever they want to do if they feel like you are less confident. When you are dealing with this hybrid, you have to establish your dominance throughout the training session. There are two essential pieces of training that you have to do with your Boxer Bulldog, namely: Clicker Training. It utilizes positive reinforcement techniques. Researchers have proven that this method works exceptionally well for Bulloxers. Because Bulldog Boxer dogs are sometimes headstrong, harsh training techniques will not work and would bring about bad behavior. You should follow a click-treat-click-treat pattern so that your dog will understand that the sound of the clicker is associated with getting a reward. Do not let the pet see your clicker. House training. You have to establish a schedule for your pet to play, eat, and to go potty. This training is essential to maintain peace inside the home. Boxer Crossed with Bulldog and Families Bulloxers are excellent family dogs because they are very affectionate and very protective of their owners. They have a high sense of awareness of their surroundings and can be aggressive when they perceive something as a threat. This piece of information is vital to those who are looking for guard dogs. They are playful and enthusiastic, which is why they will also get along with children. Usually, these dogs are very patient with kids, but you might not want to leave them alone with very small offsprings. If you ever decide on getting a Boxer Bulldog mix as your furry companion, expect to feel more warmth and happiness in your household and your life. Very active families, people who are experienced with dogs Temperament Loyal, loving, intelligent, powerful, faithful, affectionate As a mixed breed, the Bull Boxer inherits qualities from both parents and is a large dog with a lifespan of years. Bull Boxers are extremely faithful, powerful, and great to have as guard dogs. The intelligence of this breed makes them fun to be around and play with. However, as they are intelligent and energetic, they are best suited for families that are very active and people who have experience with dogs already. History shows that Bulldogs were once used as fighting dogs, which can give any dog with Bulldog blood in it a bad name. Once the fighting of these dogs was outlawed, they quickly became affectionate family pets that are loyal to a fault. Dogs that are harder to train will require a bit more patience and practice. Proper exercise, nutrition, and hygiene also play an important role in the lifespan of your pet. More social dogs have a tendency to run up to strangers for pets and scratches, while less social dogs shy away and are more cautious, even potentially aggressive. Before you run out and adopt one of these adorable puppies, make sure that you have the energy to keep up with them. They are eager to please their owners, but Bull Boxer puppies come with a stubborn streak as well. They are healthy, robust, and have an average lifespan for a dog of that size. Intelligent enough to want to please her owner, the Bull Boxer does require a firm hand when it comes to training. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They love spending time with kids. However, they do require supervision around children who are very small. As long as your Bull Boxer is taught socialization skills as a puppy, you should have no problems with him getting along with other pets. However, this mixed breed does have a high prey drive and often reacts to small animals running, with the instinct to run after them. Things to Know When Owning a Bull Boxer: Owning a Bull Boxer will take time, money, and patience to make sure your dog is trained, socialized, healthy, and happy. As we said earlier in this guide, Bull Boxers love to eat, making it easy for them to overeat and become obese. If you feel that your dog is becoming overweight, speak to your vet about treatment and what can be done. As previously stated, walking your pet is a great way to exercise him, but he needs a minimum of 2 hours of some type of activity daily. A bored Bull Boxer can quickly turn into a destructive Bull Boxer; remember that. As with any dog, patience, love, praise, and consistency are the keys to success. It is best to brush them once a week, as they tend to shed quite a bit. As for giving your Bull Boxer a bath, use only the highest-quality shampoo and only bathe them once a month, unless they get into something where you have to. The Bull Boxer is no exception. We will go into the serious and minor health conditions you should keep an eye out for in your Bull Boxer in the next section. Minor Conditions.
