Parents: Airedale Terrier x Poodle mix via Instagram: joshcwhitney The Airedoodle is an excellent choice for those owners looking for a larger Poodle mix. Airedoodles have a lot of energy that needs to be dealt with on the daily. A few hours of daily physical exercise is required, so we only recommend them for active owners. Airedoodles usually come in a medium-length coat with either soft or coarse texture. They know how to work hard, but also know how to play hard. As a hybrid of the Miniature Poodle and the Cairn Terrier, this mix has the genes for a near-guaranteed hypoallergenic coat. Because the Cairn Terrier was originally developed to hunt down vermin, the Cairnoodle may inherit the prey instincts of the terrier side. Given the intelligence of both parents, we expect the same with your Cairnoodle. The best quality of this Poodle mix is their strong loyalty to the family. Both parent breeds have very different coats. However, we tend to see the Crestepoo take on the curly coat of the Poodle. And depending on the dog, they can be a bit high-strung and stubborn. But even so, the Poodle side makes them easy to train. Poo-Tons are great family pets, as they were developed solely for companionship. They do best in large families where they can constantly be the center of attention. These dogs need to be part of the family activities to thrive. Because both parents are hypoallergenic dogs , the Poo-Ton is too. And because of the curliness of the coat, brushing is will be needed to prevent matting. Froodle Parents: French Bulldog x Poodle mix via Instagram: louiethefroodle With the recent explosion in French Bulldog popularity, the Frenchie-Poodle hybrid has also caught the attention of dog owners. Built with the sturdiness of the Frenchie but the coats of the Poodle, Froodles tend to look like Frenchies with slight curls on the coat. You just need to see one yourself. These Poodle mixes want to be part of all your family activities. As such, they need plenty of attention and care to be happy. In most cases, the Doodleman will retain the shape of the Doberman, though with the signature coat of the Poodle. Plus, they can be hypoallergenic too! However, standard Poodles are typically used, resulting in a big dog breed. These interesting hybrids combine two breeds with very different temperaments. While the Dobie can be brave and loyal, the Poodle is less suspicious and alert. Doodlemans may strike a balance that fits seamlessly into all type of families. There are more than 40 types of poodle mixes to choose from, and each comes with a unique set of traits to love. While some of these names may sound like they belong on the pages of a Dr. Seuss book, these furry friends are sure to make an excellent addition to your family. Here are some of the most popular dog breeds mixed with a poodle to consider if you're considering adopting a dog. No matter your decision, all these four-legged, furry friends are sure to put a smile on your face. Goldendoodles are known to be great family companions and are highly intelligent. As a result, they're usually easy to train but have enough energy to keep up with an active family. Some Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic, which may help family members with allergy issues. They're adorable and will get a lot of attention from anyone who sees it. Yorkiepoos are typically sweet, playful, and intelligent. Their diminutive stature makes them a perfect fit for apartment or condo living. However, because they're small, they often do better in a home with older children or adults who know how to handle them with care. Like other smaller dogs, the Yorkiepoo can tend to bark excessively without proper training, so be proactive to curb this behavior. If you love the gentle, sweet nature of Bernese Mountain dogs but are overwhelmed by their large size, a Bernedoodle might be the perfect compromise. While poodles can be energetic, Bernenoodles tend to be a little more content to cozy up on the couch, thanks to their Bernese mountain dog traits. Many Labradoodles have a poodle's coat and shed less than purebred labs, though coat style and color can vary. Labradoodles love company and are happy to be a part of the family. Whoodles are typically medium-sized and filled with energy, so they will not enjoy being couch potatoes. Though they mean no harm, Whoodles want to chase smaller animals, so they'll fare best in a home without cats, rabbits, or other small creatures. Pomapoos tend to be small but have big personalities and are highly affectionate. They love their families so much that they can face separation anxiety if left alone for too long. They train easily and usually get along well with kids and other pets. You may also hear them called a Sheepapoo or Sheepdogpoo. They tend to be intelligent and friendly and usually get along well with other dogs. Because of their herding background, they may play rough with smaller animals or little kids, so be mindful of your family's makeup before adding a Sheepadoodle to your brood. These dogs are intelligent and easy to train, with plenty of energy to burn. They may be territorial over their home and family, so don't be surprised if they bark for a few minutes when visitors come by. However, they're ultra-sweet once they're comfortable with you. Cockapoos were among the first popular "designer dogs" and have been highly in demand for decades. They make cheerful family companions. Though they're beautiful dogs, cockapoos tend to require a reasonably intensive grooming routine, which may not fit families already pressed for time. These pups tend to have a "pack" mentality, which means they'll love participating in family activities. Cavapoos typically don't shed much and skew on the smaller size. They're usually gentle, friendly, and love to cuddle. This pup, a blend of Bichon Frise and poodle, is sure to steal the hearts of everyone in your family. If you're looking for a furry best friend that loves to cuddle, a Poochon is a perfect pick. Just be sure to work on barking when your dog is young to prevent them from becoming a loudmouth as they age. Though they're diminutive in stature, Maltipoos have highly expressive faces. They're incredibly affectionate and make great companions, but their excessive love for their family can spur some separation anxiety. They're not ideal pets if you work long hours outside the home. These dogs are intelligent and sweet-natured. Schnoodles are a blend of two working dogs, which means you'll get an attentive, alert pup that can make an excellent watchdog. Chipoos love to play and cuddle. They tend to be protective over their family and home, so even though they're tiny and not very intimidating, their "hey, what's this person doing here? These little guys and girls are typically highly intelligent, energetic, and loving. Appearance varies depending on whether your dog favors his Jack Russell or poodle side, but in almost all cases, these dogs are relatively small. Jack-a-poos need plenty of exercise time, so this puppy is best suited for a family looking to engage in many games of fetch. Besides being adorable, these pups are sweet-natured and highly intelligent. Aussiedoodles have a wide variety of coat colors and textures. They're loyal companions eager to please, making them a great addition to your family. These striking pups make loving, calm family pets. But, as you might imagine, their Pyrenees side means that Pyredoodles aren't exactly pocket pups. They can weigh up to pounds when they're fully grown. This type of dog probably isn't a fit if you live in a small apartment. Depending on your particular pup, these darling dogs may have the curly coat of a poodle or the straight, soft hair of a Shih Tzu. Either way, they make perky, playful companions. They love attention and are more than content cuddling with their humans on the couch. Frequently Asked Questions Which poodle mix is the calmest? Among larger doodles, the bernedoodle and goldendoodle have a reputation for being calm, while the maltipoo and cavapoo are considered calm toy mixes. Choose a poodle crossed with a laid-back breed to increase the chances you'll get a calm dog. Which poodle mix does not shed? Poodles aren't shedders, which is one reason why poodle mixes are so popular. A poodle mix with another breed that isn't a shedder is more likely to be a no-shed dog. Was this page helpful? Why dog mums and dads love us All our pups have been microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, heartworm and intestinal worms. I bought a Labrador, she has been a delight and certainly keeps us on our toes. My other dog a Jack Russell x Maltese Terrier has now accepted her into the house and she is gradually getting on with the 2 cats. People walking past my house often have a smile or laugh as they see me with the 4 pets on the driveway or they all follow me next door to my neighbours house when I go to see how she is. I would be lost without them all. Elizabeth Cooper Great staff very reliable and supportive. They also care enough to answer all queries and give strict instructions on diet, vaccinations, chipping etc. Staff is very young, friendly and sweet. Their vet is okay — very intelligent and knows and loves animals well. She was a bit judgy about my question of if I should keep my pet but I feel if she knew I was dying and my mum had just died she would have been less harsh to me haha. My little Oliver has settled in quite nicely and is growing inches every day. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding NAP staff!
English Boodle Video Temperament Considered one of the gentlest, friendliest, and most social dogs, the boodles are compatible with kids as well as other household pets. Because of their family-oriented nature, they not only enjoy the company of their owners but also exhibit equally good behavior towards other members of the family. Although they usually remain calm and quiet, prolonged loneliness and boredom may induce destructive behavior, accompanied by incessant barking. Since they are naturally attentive, they make good watchdogs alerting their families of an impending danger. Care Exercise Unlike a few other breeds, the boodle dog has a variable need, as far as its activity level is concerned. In general, this dog is suitable for apartment life, and it loves spending time indoors as much as playing outdoors. Securely leashed walks as well as off-lead playing sessions on a regular basis will keep your dog fit and happy. Occasional clipping or trimming is also required, but consulting a professional groomer is recommended in this regard. Bathing with a gentle shampoo should be done once in a while to maintain its soft and silky curls as well as to keep away skin infections. Health Problems Although it is not known to suffer from any severe genetic problems, your boodle may have some other health concerns including PRA, epilepsy, skin infections, and heart diseases. If you see any abnormal or uncharacteristic behavior in your pet, you should call the vet immediately. Training First-time owners will find it difficult to train this dog since it may show occasional stubbornness that can only be dealt with firm, fair, patient, and consistent training methods. Since it does not respond to heavy-handed training methods, make sure you avoid them. The boodle puppies should be taught to obey basic instructions like lie down, sit, and stay. Normal house training including crate and socialization training should be given at a young age to make it more gentle, affectionate, and family-oriented. Feeding Food sources rich in protein, carbohydrates, and fats should be given to the young dogs for their growth. You can give your pet quality dry dog food regularly in amounts ranging from one and a half to two and a half cups. Interesting Facts These dogs are not bothered by hot or cold temperatures and can survive in every climate. The adult boodles do not have the same abundance of energy as seen in the puppies. Leave a Reply Your email address will not be published. Lifespan Sociability The English Boodle is a fun dog to own, but there is a lot to know before adopting one. You should know exactly what to expect once you bring your new pooch home for the first time. This combination can be challenging at times but is also almost always rewarding when all is said and done. This beautiful mixed breed also goes by the names Bullydoodle, Bully Poo, Bulldogdoodle, and Bulldogpoo. It will bark when someone comes to the door but quickly accept the visitors once welcomed inside. The English Boodle has an inherent willingness to please and loves attention, so owners will usually find their dogs standing right by their side. Most English Boodles are very energetic when they are young and need lots of outdoor exploration and playtime. As they get older, these dogs tend to slow down and mellow out a little, even though they will never entirely lose their spunkiness. Are These Dogs Good for Families? These dogs will spend all day playing in the yard with kids young and old. This mixed breed is tolerant of things like ear tugs and rough-housing, and gentle enough to learn how to walk on a leash with even younger kids. They thrive in multi-pet households that may include dogs, cats, or a combination of both. But these dogs will also enjoy their lives as an only pet if they get plenty of human attention. You should know how to take specific care of an English Boodle before you even consider adopting one so you know exactly what will be expected of you. This mixed breed can eat up to 3 cups of food each day, depending on their size and activity level. Treats can be used to supplement meals after an active adventure. This exercise can be in the form of walking, hiking , agility practice, and even indoor play with training toys. But even later in life, you can expect your English Boodle to accompany you on daily walks and occasional camping trips. The stubbornness of the English Boodle can interfere with the effectiveness of your training, so it is important to be patient yet firm while teaching your pup new commands and tricks. This breed does well when it comes to agility training. Daily brushing is a necessity to keep mats from developing and knots from forming. Some English Boodles have such long coats that they need to be trimmed on a regular basis. Regular baths will keep the coat from getting smelly over time. Minor Conditions. A post shared by Pepper mydoggiepepper Appearance Boodle puppies differ in size, shape, and features, depending on the genes they inherit from their parents. Height and weight Since English Boodles are a mix of these two breeds, their size and weight will vary depending on which parent breeds they take after more. They are usually small or medium-sized dogs, standing between 12 and 16 inches tall. Their weight can range from 15 to 50 pounds, and they have a stocky and boxy body, regardless of their size. Coat When it comes to coat types, a Bulldog Poodle mix can take after either parent breed or be a mix of both. Their coat can be short-to-medium in length, and curly, wavy, or straight in texture. A Boodle puppy may be red, fawn, black, or white. Some puppies may also develop gray, silver, or blue coats. The shades will differ, and the coat may be solid, with a single color, or have brindle patterns in two or more colors. Personality and temperament An English or French Bulldog Poodle mix dog can make a great family pet because of its playful personality. These dogs are loyal companions for children, though you should be careful when a large Bulldog Poodle mix is around a toddler. They are also great around other pets! English Bulldog English Bulldogs are known for their kind, easy-going, and loving nature. Despite their sometimes intimidating appearance, English Bulldogs are not aggressive and can even become friends with strangers. Keep in mind that English Bulldogs require regular exercise and grooming to stay healthy and happy. They may not be the most active dogs, but they still need daily walks and playtime. Also, their wrinkles need to be cleaned regularly to prevent skin irritation and infections. Overall, the English Bulldog is a fun dog breed that pet lovers all over the world adore! Poodle The Poodle is an intelligent, sophisticated, playful, and obedient dog. These dogs absolutely love to interact with humans and are playful with their family members. Their eagerness to please their humans, combined with their intelligence, makes them quick learners who can easily pick up tricks and training. However, they are also known for being emotional and sensitive dogs. Experienced dog owners understand the importance of exposing Poodles to various experiences to prevent them from becoming hypersensitive, which can lead to anxiety. English Boodle Alert English Boodle dogs are highly alert and have a keen sense of hearing. They make excellent watchdogs and will bark to alert their owners of any potential danger. Neither the Poodle or the English Bulldog is a confrontational dog. Affectionate English Boodle dogs are known for their affectionate and loving nature. They love a good cuddle and adore being around their family members. Social English Boodle dogs are highly social and enjoy the company of their owners and other pets. That being said, they may need a bit more time to get the hang of obedience training. Playful English Boodle dogs are highly energetic and love to play. They are great at entertaining themselves but also love playing with children and other animals! They are playful and enjoy games like fetch, hide and seek, and tug-of-war. Poodles, on the other hand, remain high-energy dogs well into older age. English Boodles have medium levels of energy and need daily exercise to tire them out. Think daily walks, jogs, and playing fetch in the park. Diet English Bulldogs tend to overeat and become overweight, and so can the English Boodle. Grooming These adorable pups require a lot of grooming to keep their coats in good shape. As low-to-no-shedding dogs, they need regular brushing and combing to prevent tangles and mats. Price English Boodle puppies are challenging to find. As I mentioned earlier, most of the time these dogs are in shelters and not from breeders. Health issues English Boodles may face some of the same health problems that their parent breeds face. Skin Fold Dermatitis: a condition where the folds of skin on the face, neck, and tail can become infected and inflamed, leading to itchiness, redness, and odor. You can keep your English Boodle healthy by taking regular trips to the vet—when necessary—feeding your dog high-quality dog food, and giving them enough exercise. Lifespan The average lifespan of Poodles is around years, while the average lifespan of English Bulldogs is around years. However, we can assume that a healthy English Boodle can live to be the same age as its parents. Final Words The English Boodle dog is a mixed breed with a low shedding coat and a friendly personality. This designer dog is rare and hard to find, and you might only find them in shelters and rescues. With proper care and attention, an English Boodle can make a wonderful addition to any household. English Boodles also boast a low-shedding coat, thanks to their Poodle parentage. Boodles are loving friends to all they meet, human or animal. Gentle and affectionate, they are wonderful family dogs. Read on to learn more about the amazing English Boodle! Dogs that are harder to train will require a bit more patience and practice. Proper exercise, nutrition, and hygiene also play an important role in the lifespan of your pet. More social dogs have a tendency to run up to strangers for pets and scratches, while less social dogs shy away and are more cautious, even potentially aggressive. However, it is important to remember that every dog is unique, and the personality of an English Bulldog and Poodle mix may vary based on individual temperament and upbringing. In terms of physical appearance, English Bulldog and Poodle mixes may have a short, stocky build like the bulldog, with a curly, low-shedding coat like the poodle. They may also have wrinkled skin, a wide head, and a muscular physique, similar to the bulldog. Again, because Boodles are a mix of two breeds, there will be some variation between individual dogs. However, both English Bulldogs and Poodles are generally very friendly, loving, and affectionate dogs. Your English Boodle will most likely display these same traits. English Boodles are very social dogs who crave lots of attention. They want to be with their people as much as possible and might develop anxiety if left alone frequently. English Boodles are usually smart and eager to please. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They do well with children of all ages. If your English Boodle is on the smaller side, supervise them with rowdy kids and make sure your kids know how to play correctly with a dog to prevent any injury. Properly socializing your Boodle puppy with kids and other people will help them grow into a calm, accepting family pet. English Boodles are a very social, attention-seeking breed. They are a good choice for families who can spend plenty of quality time with their dog. Boodles very much want to be included in family life and may develop separation anxiety if they are left to themselves too often. Good-natured English Boodles generally get along quite well with other pets. You can help ensure this is the case by taking care to socialize Boodle puppies with dogs, cats, and other pets as soon as it is safe to do so. If you bring an adult English Boodle into your existing fur family, make sure to properly introduce your new Boodle to the other dogs and supervise interactions with cats and other pets as everyone gets used to each other. Here is some more detailed information about the health and general care of English Boodles to help you make an informed decision. In that case, your veterinarian can help you figure out the best food to feed. Make sure to feed your English Boodle the right food for their stage of life whether a puppy, adult, or senior dog. This is especially important for Boodles because their activity levels change a lot between puppy and adulthood. Bulldogs are prone to being overweight and can have a lot of health problems as a result. If your Boodle takes after their Bulldog parent, weight could become a problem for them as well. English Boodle puppies are very energetic and will need lots of play and walks on their daily schedule. As they move into adulthood, Boodles will become more mellow. Adult Boodles will still need daily exercise to stay fit but not to the same level they did as puppies. They can quickly become overheated and can suffer from heatstroke. Be careful exercising your Boodle in the heat if they take after their Bulldog parent more than the Poodle. Poodles are one of the most intelligent breeds of dogs and are very eager to learn, a trait often passed on to English Boodles as well. Positive training methods with plenty of rewards usually work very well for Boodles. When a Bulldog decides not to do something, it can take a lot of persuasion to change their mind! Continue patiently but firmly teaching with positive reinforcement. If you are having trouble, your veterinarian can suggest training resources to help you and may also be able to recommend good local dog training classes. Some Boodles have short fur like a Bulldog while others have a longer wavy or curly coat. If your Boodle takes after their Poodle parent more, you may need to plan on regular trips to the groomer for a trim as well. Also, make sure to keep their nails clipped and brush their teeth regularly. However, because there is no way to predict exactly how the Poodle and Bulldog genetics are going to mix, Boodles could be prone to any inherited health conditions that impact either breed. Minor Conditions. What is an American Bulldoodle? This Doodle breed is also sometimes known as an American Boodle. Offspring from crossing an American Bulldog and a Poodle results in a family-friendly, energetic dog and an overall great companion. Read on to learn more about the American Bulldog and Poodle breeds. History of the Parent Breeds The following is a look at the traits of both breeds to help you get an idea of what you can expect from a combination of the two. Owners of American Bulldogs love that their dogs can go out hunting, help bring down game, or work the farm, then come home and lie quietly in front of the fireplace. These dogs are also content to be playthings for children and are protective without being aggressive. They also make excellent guard dogs. The American Bulldogs are a loyal and loving breed that brings delight to their owners. American Bulldogs are a heavily muscled breed, which means proper nutrition is essential to help them stay healthy and strong. All dogs are omnivores, but some require a high-protein diet, while others do well on a varied diet. American Bulldog standing in a field. The physical characteristics of the American Bulldog are different from its English counterpart due to the separation from the original bloodlines. An English Bulldog tends to have short legs and a pugnacious appearance, commonly referred to as a fireplug physique. There are two main types of American Bulldog with some variations thereof. The Johnson American Bulldog is close in appearance to the English variety but has longer legs and tends to be a little taller and more slender than its English counterpart. In contrast, the Scott or Standard American Bulldog is taller, sleeker, and has a longer muzzle by and large. All boxers are classified as a brachycephalic breed due to their short muzzles and pushed-in faces. Johnson American Bulldog The Johnson American Bulldog is built like a brick house with broad shoulders and stance, powerful hindquarters, a thick, muscular body, and a boxy head with a short muzzle. They frequently have an underbite that thrusts their lower jaw out and allows their lower teeth to show. Johnson American Bulldog owners love the breed for their low-maintenance needs. They like to get up and go now and again, but their default mental state is that of a mellow, pleasant dog. Providing a Johnson bulldog with regular exercise is a good idea to avoid obesity and keep the joints mobile. Scotts are taller and leaner in build. They are also higher in energy. Poodle Poodle The Poodle has a reputation for being a frou-frou breed due to its popularity among the wealthy. The Poodle was initially developed as a hunting and water dog with the stamina and speed to go after the game or collect it. Dogs that exhibited silky and curly coats were selected for breeding as it was easier to groom and maintain. However, a Poodle needs regular exercise to burn off its energy and help it stay in shape. They also need frequent brushing to keep their hair coat in good condition and regular visits to the groomer to keep their coats manageable. Appearance of the American Bulldoodle The American Bulldog and Poodle have different physiques, coat types, heights, and mental traits, but they work well as a hybrid despite their physiological differences. Offspring from the combination of a Poodle with an American Bulldoodle tend to combine features of both parents or favor one over the other. One of the main reasons why Poodles are crossed with other breeds is to bring together desirable traits, including the hypoallergenic coat that the Poodle is famous for. Coat type The most common coat type is a curly coat with fine hair, although it tends to be shorter and denser. Coat colors Coat colors vary greatly because an American Bulldog can exhibit multiple colors and patterns. No one coat color dominates among hybrid offspring. Poodles range in size from miniature to standard, while the Johnson American Bulldog reaches as high as 28 inches at the shoulder. The Scott American Bulldog reaches about 24 inches in height. Are you looking to buy or adopt an English Boodle? Want to know more about its characteristics and whether it is the right pet for you? Then read on, this guide is for you! Bulldog Poodle mixes are a cross or hybrid dog breed obtained through the mating of a Standard or Miniature Poodle with an English Bulldog. To learn about their origins, let us briefly study the parent breeds. English Bulldog English Bulldogs were bred for the gory sport of bull-baiting. Later on, the bloody sport was banned and the breed almost became extinct. Thankfully, the efforts of some Bulldog lovers revived it back. The breed remains one of the most popular dog breeds and two American Presidents and several celebrities have been its proud owners. Poodle Poodles are available in three sizes which are recognised by the AKC. These are Miniature, Toy, and Standard Poodles. The Poodle breed was first developed in Germany to assist duck hunters to retrieve fowl from the water. Today, they are considered among the most trainable dog breeds and consistently rank in the list of the top 10 most intelligent dogs. Poodles are ideal for crossing and creating designer dog sets because of their intelligence, sweet nature, hypoallergenic coats, and also their high-trainability. They also have great longevity. When combined with the English Bulldog which is known for its loving nature and calm disposition, you get a sweet dog that is willing to take on any training challenges. The Poodle also helps overcome the structural issues brachycephalic noses of the English Bulldog, creating a healthy designer breed. English Boodles have a distinguished look unlike other Doodle breeds hybrid dogs having one Poodle parent. They are small-to-medium-sized dogs and their size depends on the Poodle variety the breeder uses in their breeding program. English Boodles usually measure between inches .Many of these dogs are white, black, fawn, tan, or brindle-coloured. English Boodles could inherit the short legs and tail of the Bulldog or they might develop the slender build and curly coat of the Poodle. In short; there can be a lot of variation in these dogs since there is no set standard. Being hybrid dogs, they are not recognised by the traditional clubs that set these standards. If you want a smaller non-shedding dog, you can always ask the breeder for puppies obtained by breeding an F1 first generation Boodle back to a Toy or Mini Poodle. Fewer Poodle genes will result in a thick, short coat like the English Bulldog. Are Boodles Hypoallergenic? There is no yes or no answer to the question — is the English Boodle hypoallergenic? The answer depends on complex canine genetics. In the case of the English Bulldog, its coat sheds seasonally and it is not hypoallergenic. Therefore, a first-generation or F1-English Boodle puppy cross of purebred English Bulldog and purebred Poodle may or may not be hypoallergenic as it could have genes of both parents. However, if you have an F1-B generation English Boodle puppy a first generation English Boodle crossed back to a Poodle , then the chances are that their puppies will shed a lot less. A Word of Caution About Hypoallergenic Doodle Dogs The reason why Doodles became so popular in the first place is that they were marketed as hypoallergenic dogs. Poodles and Poodle crossbreeds generally shed little, which, in turn, reduces the amount of dander released in your home. The dander is what is responsible for itchy eyes and runny noses that allergy sufferers are familiar with. So, if you have pet allergies, you might want to test out a few dogs you can be around, without feeling sick. The best breeders conduct DNA tests for shedding genes and only breed dogs that shed minimally. This too can reduce your chances of suffering from dog allergy symptoms. English Boodles get their intelligence from their Poodle genes and eagerness to please, and their loving, calm and affectionate natures from their English Bulldog parent. English Boodles are the epitome of sweetness. They get along well with everyone and work well in any type of home. They are a pleasure to be around. They love being a part of the family activities and will make everyone smile with their silly antics. English Boodles are also calm and cuddly. Unlike the English Bulldog which has restrictions on the amount of exercise it can get owning to its brachycephalic nose, the Boodle can go for long walks and play for prolonged periods. They are gentle and friendly dogs that will make great companions for kids. However, their need to be around people and their overly-friendly nature means that they are not great as guard dogs. Also, if left alone for too long, they tend to develop separation anxiety. This can lead to destructive habits if the dog is not trained. However, it also comes with a downside. These dogs need plenty of mental stimulation. They also need you to come up with innovative ways of training them as Bulldogs can be stubborn. Therefore, a Boodle owner will have to think of creative ways to engage with their pet. Play-based training that utilises positive reinforcement is the best training method for poodle crossbreeds. Boodles mostly do well with other pets but will need some socialisation. Once they are socialised, they will welcome the company of another pet — including pets like cats. If not trained in the skill of independence , they are likely to need someone to keep them company. Once you opt to bring home an English Boodle, you will want to become active. These dogs need at least twice-daily walks of minutes along with a game of fetch indoors or in the yard. But exercise it you must, because, without it, these pups can get bored, depressed, and destructive. Finally, if you are still on the fence about whether the English Boodle is right for you, then understand that these companion dogs will brighten your life. They are family-friendly dogs and when you buy one from a good breeder, it also might shed less and keep your home free of pet fur. If you have decided you want a dog, then the English Boodle can be an excellent choice. How Much is an English Boodle? The price of the English Bulldog-Poodle mix is not fixed. Your English Boodle needs a certain blend of nutrients which most commercial dog foods and homemade raw foods can provide. Your vet nutritionist can guide you in this matter. The best dog food for English Boodles is the one that contains real meat as the first ingredient. It is also free from fillers, grains, colours, etc. Your Boodle puppy will need at least meals a day while an adult dog will need 2 meals a day. Make sure that you purchase your puppy from an ethical breeder. This way, you can ensure that the genetic issues seen in the parent breeds are eliminated. The lifespan of English Boodles is years. With their signature bat ears and expressive eyes, French Bulldogs, or "Frenchies" as they are lovingly known, have captured the hearts of many dog lovers around the globe, consistently ranking among the most popular breeds. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water. She is a chocolate merle with an impressive pedigree! Although a playful pup sounds endearing, consider how many games of fetch or tag you want to play each day, and whether you have kids or other dogs who can stand in as playmates for the dog. Click here for more information on this characteristic Goldador Overview The idea was to create a working dog with the sensitivity of the Golden Retriever and the tolerance of the Labrador Retriever. It worked. Cross them, and the result is the unequivocally genial Goldador. Thanks to their easygoing nature and keen intelligence, Goldadors have proven outstanding guide dogs, service dogs, search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs, and bomb detection dogs. But like their parent breeds, Goldadors are happiest simply working alongside a person they love. Goldadors are active and require at least half an hour of daily exercise — most enjoy retrieving games as well as hiking and swimming. Training the eager-to-please Goldador is relatively easy — they come from a long line of dogs who work closely and willingly with people. This makes them an excellent choice for first-time owners, provided they get the exercise, structure, and positive reinforcement they crave. Goldadors are also a good option for families with children though they can be a bit rambunctious for toddlers , as they want nothing more than to be part of family activities. The ideal residence for a Goldador is a home with a fenced yard, but with regular exercise and companionship they can live and thrive in apartments and condos. Whatever his home, a Goldador should live indoors with his people. Goldadors are good family dogs and generally do well with children of all ages. The Goldador sheds moderately and requires weekly brushing. Goldadors require about 30 minutes of exercise per day. They enjoy being outdoors and can make excellent jogging companions. Although a house with a fenced yard is the ideal home for a Goldador, he can do well in an apartment or condo with proper exercise. Goldadors can be a good choice for first-time dog owners. Goldador History The Goldador was first developed more than a decade ago: the Labrador Retriever and the Golden Retriever were crossed with the hopes of creating a sensitive, tolerant working dog. The effort proved successful. At this time, there are no breed clubs or any efforts to create a breed standard for the Goldador. Goldador Size The Goldador is one of the few designer breeds with a fairly predictable size, as both parent breeds are large and similar in size and shape. The Goldador is usually 22 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 60 to 80 pounds. Goldador Personality The Goldador is affectionate and loyal, alert enough to make an excellent watchdog, but too friendly to be an effective guard dog. His intelligence and desire to please render him highly trainable, and he responds best to positive reinforcement techniques. Socialization helps ensure that your Goldador puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog. Goldador Health Goldadors are prone to certain health conditions. Some dogs show pain and lameness on one or both rear legs, but you may not notice any signs of discomfort in a dog with hip dysplasia. As the dog ages, arthritis can develop. Hip dysplasia is hereditary, but it can be worsened by environmental factors, such as rapid growth from a high-calorie diet or injuries incurred from jumping or falling on slick floors. Elbow Dysplasia is a heritable condition common to large-breed dogs. This can lead to painful lameness. Your vet may recommend surgery to correct the problem, or medication and weight loss to control the pain. Cataracts are an opacity on the lens of the eye that causes difficulty in seeing. The eye s of the dog will have a cloudy appearance. Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the body cannot regulate blood sugar levels. Blood sugar levels are regulated in part by insulin, which is produced in the pancreas. Glucose sugar is needed by the cells of the body to burn for energy; insulin is the key that lets the glucose into the cell. Without insulin, the glucose cannot enter the cell, so the cells are hungry even though there are high levels of glucose circulating in the blood. A diabetic dog will eat more food to try to compensate, but he will lose weight because food is not being used efficiently. Signs of diabetes are excessive urination and thirst, increased appetite, and weight loss. Diabetes can be controlled by diet and daily insulin injections. Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA : This is a degenerative eye disorder that eventually causes blindness from the loss of photoreceptors at the back of the eye. PRA is detectable years before the dog shows any signs of blindness. Fortunately, dogs can use their other senses to compensate for blindness, and a blind dog can live a full and happy life. Both parents should have health clearances from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals for hips, elbows, heart, and thyroid and from the Canine Eye Registry Foundation CERF certifying that the eyes are normal. Goldador Care The ideal home for a Goldador is a house with a fenced yard where he can play safely; however, he can do well in an apartment or condo if he gets daily walks or runs. Interested in dog sports? Goldadors make formidable competitors in agility and flyball. Mental stimulation is crucial as well. Teach your Goldador to fetch the paper or your slippers, practice obedience training regularly with him, and put his mind to work from time to time with an interactive dog toy. As with all dogs, positive reinforcement techniques praise, play, and food rewards work best with the Goldador. Goldador Feeding Recommended daily amount: 3. Note: How much your adult dog eats depends on his size, age, build, metabolism, and activity level. It almost goes without saying that a highly active dog will need more than a couch potato dog. For more on feeding your Goldador, see our guidelines for buying the right food , feeding your puppy , and feeding your adult dog. Goldador Coat Color And Grooming A Goldador should have the same double coat as a Labrador Retriever, with a short, thick, straight topcoat and a soft, dense undercoat some have a slight wave down the back. Weekly brushing with a rubber curry brush will remove dead hair, helping to keep it off your clothes and furniture. During seasonal shedding periods, however, daily brushing is recommended. Bathe your Goldador as needed, and be sure to give him a thorough freshwater rinse any time he goes swimming. The Goldador can be prone to ear infections, so check and clean the ears weekly. Other grooming needs include dental hygiene and nail care. Trim his nails once or twice a month, as needed. Handle his paws frequently — dogs are touchy about their feet — and look inside his mouth and ears. Goldador Children And Other Pets Goldadors are an ideal family companion and are generally gentle and loving toward children of all ages. As puppies, they can be a bit rambunctious and may knock over smaller children unintentionally, so close supervision is important. Social and easy-going, Goldadors do well with other dogs and pets, especially when raised together. Always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog, no matter how good-natured, should ever be left unsupervised with a child. Goldador Rescue Groups There are no official rescue groups for the Goldador, but this cross is frequently available at private and municipal animal shelters. More Info For You. Labrador Retriever Mix, or a Goldador Dog. The Goldador dog is a playful and good-natured, large dog. When you cross a purebred Labrador Retriever with a purebred Golden Retriever , even though both parents are recognized purebred dog breeds, the result — the Goldador — is a hybrid dog; recently known as a designer dog. Designer breeds come in a variety of coat colors and types, depending on the genes and appearance of the parent breeds. This cross-breed dog has parents with hunting and retrieving skills. They are often used as therapy dogs, guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, and other types of service dogs, even bomb detection: but not as a guard dog or watchdog! This hybrid dog breed has the classic appearance of the Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever dogs; inheriting their friendly, smiley face and their big brown eyes. The Labrador Golden Retriever mix is soft, loving, and intelligent. This is a large, bouncy, and easy-going dog that loves to be active. It will want to be wherever you are; in your bed, on your sofa or in the bathroom with you! A Goldador puppy is simply adorable. But remember, nowhere is private with a Goldador around! Fact: When two different dog breeds are intentionally mixed it called a designer dog; any hybrid dog will inherit its characteristics and health problems from both parent breeds but the result will not be seen until the puppy is born and observed as it grows up. A Goldador is friendly and will always want to be close to you. In , Lord Tweedmouth, a British Aristocrat, wanted a loyal and hard-working gundog to retrieve waterfowl while hunting on his estate in Scotland. So he crossed a wavy-coated yellow retriever sire with a Tweed Water Spaniel dam and produced 3 Golden-colored Retriever puppies. Fact: the Tweed Water Spaniel is now an extinct dog breed. Lord Tweedmouth mixed this new breed Retriever with an Irish Setter dog to breed the recognized Golden Retriever dog breed. In , the Golden Retriever dog breed was registered by the UK Kennel Club, and they quickly became popular as family pets and show dogs. Parent 2: A brief history of the Labrador Retriever parent — a purebred dog The Labrador Retriever is the best-loved and most popular dog breed in the world! It has a solid- color double coat in one of 3 colors; pure black, chocolate brown, or yellow. Whatever the coat color this is just a good looking dog breed for any level of dog owner or family member. The Labrador Retriever dog is from Newfoundland, Canada, and was used by fishermen to retrieve fish from nets and catch those that escaped back into the sea. They are good swimmers and have a gentle mouth grip that will not further destroy any prey they are ordered to retrieve. The Newfoundland and Labrador Province, in Canada, provided this hunting and retrieving dog with its name — the Labrador Retriever or Lab to its friends! The Newfoundland Labrador Retriever dog breed came to Great Britain around , to be used as gun dogs for retrieving waterfowl from land and water, during the shooting season, in Scotland and England. Ongoing breeding is believed to have continued the pure Newfoundland lab bloodline in our Labrador Retriever breed today. Meet the offspring: The hybrid offspring of these two purebred dogs is the Golden Retriever Lab mix — the Goldador puppy. This mixed breed puppy will be happy, affectionate, and will easily become a family member for sure. Fact: Designer dogs are increasing in popularity and so is the trend to give them a cute combo name that reflects a bit of both parent names. The Goldador puppy will inherit characteristics from both parents. What are the main characteristics of a Golden Retriever Lab Mix? Like any other crossbreed, a Labrador Golden Retriever Labrador mix can inherit the characteristics of either parent or both. Crossbreed dogs, like The Goldador, are no more likely to inherit health issues than purebred dogs; in fact, it is believed they may actually be stronger. Any mixed puppy can inherit all, some, or none of the health issues its parent breeds have. It can be heavily weighted towards the characteristics of one parent more than the other. The characteristics of The Goldador are a combination of nature and nurture: genetics of the parents, the environment, and the quality, type and amount of training and socialization. The Goldador — possible coat colors Both Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever parents have a thick, double coat: a water-resistant topcoat and a warm undercoat. Therefore the Goldador will inherit the same double coat but is likely to be short-haired like the Labrador. With its impressive and popular parent breed mix it will be loyal with a loving temperament and good around children and other dogs. It will be caring and become and active companion, that just wants to be by your side all the time. Reputation: This large Golden Labrador mix breed dog comes from two of the best-loved and most popular dog breeds. This is why they can make such good service and guide dogs, therapy dogs or even search and rescue dogs. They will still need to be trained and socialized early to teach them how to use that energy positively and learn how to behave in public. They are people-friendly and need exercise. They would not make a good guard dog, or watchdogs as they are approachable with strangers and make friends easily. So watch your slippers! Trainability: The trainability of this intelligent Golden Labrador mixed breed should be easy. The Goldador needs to be trained and socialized early as it will inherit a herding instinct and be highly active. They may attempt to take over and herd small children and smaller pets so they need to be controlled. Positive reinforcement and small treats will work well but not harsh discipline, or any form of negative punishment or physical restraint. Power and intelligence: This mixed breed dog is very intelligent, strong, and active with a herding and working drive. It will enjoy and need working challenges incorporating mental and physical stimulation, but it will be curious and want to investigate the other side of the fence. Socialization: Early socialization and discipline are strongly recommended for any crossbred dog especially those with herding and service dog parents. The Labrador Golden Retriever Mix wants to be active and occupied; if bored it may become destructive and bark. When trained and socialized this mixed breed dog will be approachable and friendly around all types of people, children, and other animals. Purpose: Any herding or working dog will want to be useful and please its owner. It will need to be trained and socialized early as it will help with control its excitement in public and develop obedience norms. It will form an early bond and lasting companionship with its owner. Either parent will still give it an athletic, well-balanced build and a strong working ethic. Finding black Lab Golden Retriever puppies for sale? The black Lab Golden Retriever mix is still a Goldador. But, by using a black Lab parent, many breeders aim to get puppies with a black coat. A black Lab Golden Retriever mix will have the same general traits as any other Goldador. They will be friendly, energetic, and playful. Black Lab Golden Retriever mix dogs are also great with kids and other animals. Especially when they are socialized and trained well from a young age. This dog is simply a puppy with one Golden Retriever parent and one black Labrador Retriever parent. Since the genes for a black dog coat are dominant, many breeders hope that they will get black Goldador puppies when they breed with a black Labrador parent. But, first generation mixes like this are quite unpredictable. A Goldador with a black Lab parent will usually have a black coat. But, in some instances, puppies may have lighter, or golden coats. Other than their coat color, their traits will vary as much as any other Goldador dog. It will depend which parent they take after the most. Generally, you will have a medium to large dog. Typically, a Goldador will grow between .They usually weigh between 55 and 80 pounds as adults. Females are often smaller than males. In terms of coat type, this mix will have a double layered coat that sheds all year round, and more heavily during shedding seasons. Their coat may be slightly longer if they take after their Golden Retriever parent, with some feathering around their legs and chest. However, a puppy must receive two recessive genes one from each parent to have a non-black coat color. So, it is much less likely that your puppies will have golden or chocolate coats if they have a black Lab parent. If your heart is set on a black Goldador puppy, let your breeder know. They may be able to give you first pick of the litter to ensure you get the shade you want. Both parents of this Goldador mix are known to be friendly, energetic, and loving. Especially toward their close families. Generally, when they are well socialized as puppies, they will get along very well with everyone they meet. This includes other pets and even young children. However, since they are quite large dogs, they can accidentally bump and hurt young kids during play. Socialization is Proven to Help Studies into dog behavior have shown that socialization from a young age helps to prevent behavioral issues in older dogs. This includes aggression and fearfulness. So, you should train and socialize your black Goldador mix well from a young age to get the best of their temperament. You should also meet the parent dogs to see what traits your puppy may inherit. If its parents are friendly and keen to meet you, your puppy will often be similar! Most families get on well with a black Lab Golden Retriever mix. They tend to love everyone they meet, especially when socialized and trained from a young age. These dogs need families that have plenty of time to dedicate, and who can take their dog with them everywhere. Plenty of Energy On top of this, a black Goldador is a very energetic dog, that comes from two hardworking, athletic parents. A black Lab Golden Retriever mix will usually be as healthy as its parents. Mixed breed puppies like this are vulnerable to the same health issues as their parent breeds. Common problems to look out for include: Cancer big issue for Golden Retrievers Hip dysplasia. The double coat has a soft undercoat below a rough top coat that is water resistant. Either way, their coat will be fairly high maintenance. Shedding and Grooming Your new friend is going to shed, sometimes a lot. Both parent breeds heavily shed their coats with the change of seasons twice a year. For the rest of the year, expect a moderate level of shedding. Increased brushing during transitional times can help catch the loose hairs and stop them from spreading everywhere. Golden Retriever Labrador mixes will need weekly brushing, likely more during shedding season. Their nails should be trimmed regularly as well. Are They Hypoallergenic? The Goldador dog will not be hypoallergenic. They are high shedders, spreading dander from skin and saliva liberally around your home! With designer breeds like the Golden Retriever Lab, you can only make an educated guess about their temperament based on the general demeanor of their parents as well as the temperament of the parent breeds as a whole. If they are left alone a lot, they may become very destructive to your home. They will chew out of boredom or anxiety. As many Lab lovers know, these dogs do not know a stranger. Generally, the Goldador will get on well with children and other pets. Socialization Socialization from an early age is important for any breed, including the Golden Retriever Lab. Even though it hails from overly friendly and sociable breeds, there are still no guarantees to the temperament of your dog. Since training and socialization are both best started early on, puppy training classes can be a great way to both train and socialize your puppy at the same time. Training Tips The Goldador has an easygoing and eager to please temperament that helps make them highly trainable. Owners should start training early, from the time their puppy comes home. The parent breeds have a long history as service dogs, bomb detection dogs, hunting dogs, and now therapy dogs. Obedience classes will help create a well-mannered dog but also strengthens the bond between the dog and owner. Since Goldadors grow to be large dogs, obedience is also important to prevent them from jumping up at your guests! Energy Levels Golden Retriever Labrador puppies will grow into high-energy adults with a love for playing and a passion for retrieving! A Labrador Golden Retriever Mix makes a great companion for jogging, hiking, or cycling. This is a breed that also loves to swim. Canine sports, like agility, obedience trials, and tracking, are also a great way to keep your dog physically active, mentally stimulated, and out of trouble. As a very social breed, they do best as indoor dogs, but with a large, fenced in yard to run around. In addition to self-exercise, they need walks or other forms of daily activity with their owners. Exercise is especially important for the health of your Goldador since both Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers have a tendency to develop elbow and hip dysplasia. Weight management is one way of combating these joint problems. Health and Care All pedigree dog breeds are inbred to some extent. The measure of this is called the coefficient of inbreeding COI. The higher the COI, the greater the risks of health issues arising specifically from inbreeding. In a crossbreed such as the Goldador, the COI is usually much lower than it is in a purebred dog, and this is a good thing. To begin to look at the health and care of a Goldador we first need to consider the inherited health risks from both parent breeds Labrador and Golden Retriever. Labrador Health Labrador Retrievers are prone to a few hereditary health conditions and joint problems, as well as some health issues common to most dogs. To help minimize the likelihood of hereditary health issues in your new Goldador pup, check that your breeder has followed the recommended testing for the Labrador Retriever breed: Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis HNKP. Tomato leaves stem or unripe fruit Alcohol, beer, wine or liquor Grapes or raisins Golden Retriever Crossed with Labrador Exercise Requirements The Lab Golden Retriever Mix has an active temperament so they might get destructive if they get bored. It is recommended to exercise them at least 2 hours daily. Getting them to do physical activities every day will help keep him happy and healthy. Here are some outdoor activities that you can try with your Golden Retriever Lab Mix: Hiking: It is a great way to turn your daily walk more challenging and exciting for your dog. Swimming: Utilize your private pool and do a swimming exercise with your dog companion. Swimming does not only serve as an exercise activity to yourself and to your companion dog, but it is also a great bonding experience. It also provides relief from the heat during the summer months. Make sure you supervise your dog all the time while doing this activity. Dock Diving: This is a fun sports activity to enjoy with your dog. All you have to do is throw a floating toy and encourage your dog to jump and swim out to retrieve it. If you and your Golden Retriever Lab Mix want to upgrade the challenge, you can try joining a Dock Diving Club and compete with other dogs. Play Fetch: This is a classic outdoor game that is great to do in summer. Challenge your dog by putting a twist to the activity, you can either use a Frisbee or a tennis racquet to make the object travel farther for your Golden Labrador to retrieve and return back to you. However, you should not be working them too much because when it comes to recovering objects, both parent breeds of Golden Retriever Lab Mix can be overly enthusiastic. However, even though they are intelligent dogs and has a friendly nature, you still need to put time and effort to train them better. Both parent breeds were bred to carry things. The best way to teach your Goldador not to bark is to socialize them frequently with strangers. Use Positive Reinforcement The Labrador crossed with Golden Retriever is a sensitive type of dog, so training them using positive reinforcement will be very helpful. Make sure to avoid negative punishment-based training since this hybrid dog may end up fearing you rather than respecting you as their leader. Make it a regular routine to reward your puppy whenever they do something right. Training your Goldador consistently in a positive method will give you pet companions that are obedient and good-natured. Do Mental Exercise The Golden Retriever mixed with Lab is an intelligent dog, and they need stimulating mental activities to avoid developing any aggressive behaviors, such as nuisance barking and chewing. Without proper mental exercise, Goldador puppies will grow into a passive, timid and uninspired dog. Labrador Golden Retriever Mix and Families Despite its large size, the Labrador mixed with Golden Retriever is a great family dog because of its easy-going personality. It is extremely friendly and affectionate. The Goldador is the type of dog that goes well in a loving and active family — one that considers him as a family member. The Golden Labradors cherish the company with children. They are naturally gentle, but they can play tirelessly as long as your kids can keep up. However, due to their sheer size, supervision is still needed around toddlers and infants. The Goldadors makes an excellent therapy and companion dog. Because of their affectionate nature, they generally do well when given lots of attention and affection. These hybrid dogs love to be with people, and hence it is tough for them to cope with solitude. So give love lots of love and affection to your Goldador Lab Retriever Mix and expect that it will shower you back with love. Life Span Did You Know? The Golden Labrador is a designer dog breed that originated in the United States. They are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever. The goal was to combine these two highly popular breeds to create a dog that exhibits the best traits from both of them. A mixed dog breed can take after one parent breed more than the other or any combination of traits from the parent breeds. This can result in some variation among individual puppies. But, overall, a Golden Labrador is friendly, intelligent, energetic, and affectionate. Although this mixed breed is not recognized by the American Kennel Club, they are recognized by other notable organizations like the American Canine Hybrid Club and more. This large designer breed is characterized by their energetic personality and friendly disposition. Both of the parent breeds in this cross are open, friendly, and affectionate, so you can expect the same in your Golden Labrador puppy. They are very playful and get along fabulously with children, other dogs, and other pets. They may be alert enough to be a good watchdog, but they do not make good guard dogs. They are instinctually more interested in making new friends and getting attention than they are with anything else. They can have a slight prey drive, but most of the time, they are just curious and interested in playing and making friends. The Golden Labrador is a moderately adaptable dog breed. Their large size and energy tend to make them a better fit for larger homes with room to run. They can adapt well to apartment living as long as they are given enough exercise and mental stimulation. But, small spaces can be a challenge because they are large dogs that are so playful and energetic. Golden Labradors do well in just about any climate. As with most dog breeds, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because they love their families, thrive on attention, and get bored easily, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. As a mixed breed, a Golden Labrador can inherit the potential health conditions of one or both of the parent breeds. Although the Golden Labrador is a relatively healthy dog breed, there are some potential health conditions to be aware of. These include eye problems like progressive retinal atrophy and joint issues common to large dogs like patellar luxation and hip dysplasia. Like their parent breeds, the Golden Labrador can be prone to weight gain, which does put them at risk of diabetes later in life. Reputable breeders will screen their stock to ensure genetic conditions are not being passed on to puppies. Regular vet visits, proper nutrition, and sufficient exercise can help keep your dog healthy and reduce preventable diseases. Both of the parent breeds in this cross are highly intelligent and highly trainable, so the Golden Labrador should be no different. Eager to please their owners, these dogs pick up on things quickly and respond best to positive training methods focused on praise and reward. This dog breed, like both of the parent breeds, is a great fit for owners of all experience levels, including first-time dog owners. Their high energy can sometimes be a challenge, so you may want to consider puppy training and obedience classes. This designer dog breed may be called a Golden Labrador, but they can show up in many colors. A cream, yellow, or golden coat may be the most common, but a Golden Labrador can also have a black, red, or brown coat. It tends to be a dense double coat that is short or medium in length. This dog breed will shed moderately year-round with heavier shedding sessions twice a year as the seasons change. During seasonal changes, you may want to increase to daily brushing. Not only will this make your dog more comfortable, but it will also decrease the amount of loose fur that ends up around your house. In addition to coat care, you will also need to handle nail, ear, and dental care for your Golden Labrador. Floppy ears tend to trap more dirt, moisture, and debris, which makes them more prone to developing ear infections than ears that stick straight up. Unfortunately, this is often overlooked, which is why gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. Beyond that, you can use vet-approved dental hygiene chews and treats and even a specially-formulated dental care diet to supplement your efforts. Getting them used to it early and keeping it a positive experience can make grooming a lot easier as your puppy grows into a big dog! Plus, it can become a bonding experience that your dog looks forward to. Golden Labradors are high-energy dogs. Daily walks, playtime, and some extra activity are generally enough for this dog to stay happy and healthy. But, they will probably tire out before you do! Their friendly nature makes the Golden Labrador a great fit for trips to the dog park. Try teaching your dog how to play frisbee. With their retriever background, it could become one of their favorite activities. You can also train your Golden Labrador for several dog sports like agility, dock diving, obedience, and more. A fully-grown Golden Labrador usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs between pounds. A Golden Labrador generally lives years. Although Golden Labrador is the most popular name for this designer dog breed, they are also sometimes referred to as a Goldador or a Goldador Retriever. Featured Golden Labrador Article.
I am familiar with common and uncommon health problems they may face so when my boyfriend and I decided we were ready to adopt our own english puppy finding a reputable breeder that prioritizes health was most important to us. Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. At BigBullDogs. The first example of this type of dog, called Sultan, went to live with a lady in Hawaii, where other breeders saw him as an inspiration and this is how Australian Labradoodle puppies started. Both the International Australian Labradoodles Association and the Australian Labradoodles Association of America are working hard to incorporate more intergenerational breeding so these dog breeders can register this type of dog as a purebred dog. Its gentle, obedient and intelligent personality combined with a hypoallergenic coat make it ideal for family members with allergies, but it also makes an excellent service or therapy dog. Long walks, hiking or jogging will definitely be a part of your future life as dog-parent to a Labradoodle. These dogs tend to do well with children in the home, but sometimes are better suited for older kids since they could knock smaller family members over with their size and exuberance. Are you looking for a dog park buddy? The Labradoodle could be the perfect match for you! They usually like to play with other dogs, so a good romp with some canine friends is ideal for them, with proper oversight and introductions. They would be a good choice if you have other pets in the home, given their general good nature. Still, cautious introductions of new pets are always a must! Labradoodles usually want to please their parents, so can be easily trained with positive methods. Upkeep Labradoodles have a lot of energy to burn! You should expect to dedicate at least minutes per day to giving your Labradoodle an outlet for their energy, whether in the form of a structured walk, playing in the yard with them, training, or a trip to the dog park to socialize. Their enthusiasm could easily turn to destructive behavior if not given this outlet. They would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so this energetic dog may not be the best option if you have a low-energy apartment life. Because they are a combination of a Labrador and a Poodle they can be easily trained. They also make great family dogs because of their gentleness with children. However, these dogs are not meant for everyone. They need someone who can be dedicated to them and can take them out on long walks and exciting adventures. Unfortunately this means some Labradoodles end up in shelters. Other times Labradoodles might grow larger than some people were expecting. By adopting a Labradoodle you are decreasing the demand on breeders and giving a dog a loving home.
